Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 355: Chapter 355: Calculating Old and New Resentments Together

That man bolted away so quickly that for a moment, no one could stop him. Bai Zehao reacted and was about to give chase, but was shouted back by Bai Ruozhu.

”Big brother, don’t chase after him, it’s not worth taking risks over such people.”

Wan Caiyue felt as if her heart had jumped into her throat. After hearing Bai Ruozhu speak, she gratefully looked at her. She had seen everything that had just happened, from the moment the bugs appeared. She had been nervous, scared and even once thought that the bugs had accidentally fallen into the pot. However, as Bai Ruozhu gradually revealed the truth to everyone, her heart gradually calmed down, and she began to admire Bai Ruozhu more and more.

Under such conditions, her sister-in-law was able to remain perfectly composed, quickly identify the problem, and then calmly expose the enemy’s flaw to everyone else. If it had been her, she would have been unable to do such a thing.

No wonder even her grandpa said that Ruozhu was like the female equivalent of Zhuge Liang, saying that she should learn from Ruozhu after entering the Bai Family. At this moment, she did not feel that her sister-in-law was younger than her. Instead, she felt that her sister-in-law was mature and stable, appearing more like her older sister.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t know what Wan Caiyue was thinking, otherwise, she would have laughed and said: Indeed, I am mentally older than you.

Taking into account her previous life, she had lived for twenty-six years, while Wan Caiyue was only just turned eighteen.

Seeing the troublemaker had escaped and the crowd had dispersed, although some people stayed to eat at the Bai Family’s stall as a sign of trust in them.

Seeing that there were now even more customers, Lin Ping’er’s smile deepened, and she no longer had the time to be angry about what just happened. She efficiently washed the dishes, and seeing this, Wan Caiyue quickly went over to help her. The two of them working together speeded up the process greatly.

Bai Ruozhu continued to make pancake wraps, occasionally chatting with the customers.

”Miss Bai, who do you think sent that man just now? You don’t think someone is jealous of your family’s successful business, do you?” An old woman, with a curious nature, couldn’t help but ask.

Bai Ruozhu smiled at her and said, ”Madam, I can’t be sure about that, but jealousy is quite likely. Didn’t we just see someone trying to compete with us for business?”

After hearing her words, the old woman automatically thought of the Wang Family’s pancake wrap stall at the other end of the street. She gave a long ’oh’ sound and said, ”If rumors start to spread that your food is unclean, then those competing with your business will definitely benefit.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled again, ”That’s possible. But I’m not worried. They can’t beat us in terms of business, and all these people here are regular customers. They’ll know whether it’s good or bad by comparison.”

The old woman nodded repeatedly, ”That’s reasonable. Indeed, your family’s flavor is better. Now that I think about it, their stall’s business has been really sluggish recently. Maybe they’re trying to find other ways.”

Bai Ruozhu chuckled. This woman was rather sharp. Without explicitly saying anything, she had already left much room for people to speculate.

When there were fewer customers, Lin Ping’er pulled Bai Ruozhu aside and asked, ”Could it have been done by the Wang Family?”

”Aside from them, I can’t think of anyone else right now. Moreover, it seems that the Wang Family would benefit from this.” Bai Ruozhu replied.

Bai Zehao said angrily, ”It must be them. We still haven’t settled the score with them over the matter of hiring the chef last time. They dare to come and stir up trouble again. Do they really think we’re pushovers? And the poison they gave to Chef Wang, wasn’t it just the same as when they added the croton powder to my osmanthus cake?”

”The Wang Family really isn’t a good one. Why did dad have to form a marriage alliance with such a family in the first place?” Bai Yihong shook his head as he spoke.

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes,” They were lured by the prospect of money. Didn’t you see that even after the divorce, they were able to take away a hundred taels of silver? They said the amount they had given to the old mansion in the past was far more than a hundred taels.”

”Ah, they were indeed blinded by greed.” Bai Yihong sighed.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows, ah, her dad was making progress. Normally at such times, he wouldn’t comment, just sigh along. But today he actually expressed his opinion, indicating that he was making progress.

Lin Ping’er couldn’t help but glance at him, seeming to be quite pleased.

”Ruozhu, I think we can’t just let this matter with the Wang Family go. I’ll go talk to the clan elder grandpa about it. It’s time to give the Wang Family a dose of their own medicine, or else they’ll really think we don’t have the support of our clan,” Bai Zehao said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded. Today’s matter could be let go, but what about the trick they played on her elder brother at his wedding? The Wang Family’s actions were more than just causing trouble for the Bai family, it was an attempt to publicly humiliate the Bai Family. Even if her family could tolerate it, where would the Bai Family’s face be?

Since they were going to settle the score, they might as well settle old and new grievances together.

”Big brother, you should tell grandpa the whole truth about today’s incident, and ask more clan members to come tomorrow. We should not go to the Wang Family’s stall, but straight to their house, to teach them a lesson,” Bai Ruozhu said after thinking for a while.

Upon hearing this, Lin Ping’er was displeased, ”They came to our stall to cause trouble, why don’t we just go to their stall to make trouble? Won’t we be letting them off the hook?”

Bai Ruozhu grinned helplessly, her mother really had a hot temper.

”Mother, the stalls have to pay a fee to the government office and are under its management. If we go to their stall and cause trouble, the authorities can arrest us for questioning. Have you forgotten the incident when the Wang family was beaten last time?” She shook her head and said,”What if the Wang family also causes trouble and ends up in court, and if Officer Li doesn’t want to punish us but is accused by them of favoring his allies, won’t that put Officer Li in a difficult position?”

Lin Ping’er laughed awkwardly, ”Ruozhu thinks more comprehensively, it’s just that I was too anxious. But if we cause a major disturbance at the Wang’s, won’t that trouble Officer Li?”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head,”Going to the Wang Family to cause trouble is a private matter, a civil matter. And we have caught their tail - they tried to poison us by secretly getting the chef to add something to our food. Based on this point alone, even if the matter is taken to court, they will still be the ones to get whipped.”

Everyone nodded at this and looked pleased. Now, time to see how arrogant the Wang Family could be.

Once the matter was settled, Bai Zehao turned to leave. But after only two steps, he stopped, turned back, and whispered to Wan Caiyue, ”Caiyue, I might need to go back to the mountain village. Do you have any message for your family?”

Wan Caiyue’s face turned red, ”No need, I’ll be returning home in three days.” Her voice was very small, as if reminding Bai Zehao, prompting Bai Zehao’s face to also turn red. That’s right, she would be returning in three days, so what message couldn’t wait till then?

”Then I’ll be going, help mom and dad with some work, and stay close to them when closing the stall, don’t get separated.” Bai Zehao gave a few more instructions before leaving, his face flushed.

Bai Ruozhu quietly signaled her mother and said, ”Big brother has learned to be considerate of his wife, he’s making quick progress.”

Lin Ping’er was very pleased after hearing this and said, ”Isn’t that the tradition of our family? Any girl who marries into our family would be very lucky.”

Bai Ruozhu chuckled. Family tradition, huh? So, would her second brother also be one to pamper his wife?
