Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian didn’t insist. Although Mr. Fu and Uncle Chen hadn’t met much, because of their relationship with Ye Jian, the two of them could chat well.

They would talk about politics, the country, and military intelligence. The two men who shared the same military uniform would chat the entire night when they met.

Uncle Chen’s ashes were scattered in the Yellow River. Under the stone tablet at the shooting range of the Southern Province sniper base, there was only an urn and a sniper rifle that Uncle Chen used for teaching.

The sniper base in the Southern Province was Uncle Chen’s home. Uncle Chen’s favorite sniper rifles were also there. Naturally, Ye Jian chose to return to the Southern Province to pay her respects to Uncle Chen.

Before flying to the Southern Province, she planned to go to the military to ask about the progress of the matter. Then, she would fly to the Southern Province and kneel in front of Uncle Chen’s grave to tell him everything she knew. She wouldn’t give up on finding the real culprit. As long as she found the real culprit, even if it wasn’t just one person but an organization, she would take revenge for Uncle Chen.

Commander Xia was quite surprised to receive Ye Jian’s call. When he knew that she would come over, Commander Xia paused for a few seconds. He roughly guessed the reason and sighed. ”Come, girl. I have time in the morning. I’ll bring you to the National Defense.”

The National Defense had always been in charge of investigating Uncle Chen’s assassination. Commander Xia didn’t know much about the case.

Ye Jian pursed her lips slightly. She knew that this matter made things difficult for Commander Xia. Before she could say anything, Commander Xia smiled as if he could see Ye Jian’s expression. ”Don’t feel embarrassed. I want to know how the progress is too. Since you’re here, we can go over and ask.”

”Thank you. Should my dad and I go to the military directly to look for you? Or should we go to the National Defense?”

The National Defense was a distance away from the military headquarters and not far from Beihai Park. It was relatively close to Dangui Garden, so Commander Xia asked Ye Jian to wait for him at the National Defense. Then, he chatted with Mr. Fu for a while before leaving for the National Defense.

Along the way, Commander Xia contacted Minister Xia, Xia Jinyuan’s uncle, Xia Anguo. Although they were brothers, they had to make an appointment before he went to prevent a situation where Minister Xia was out of the office from arising.

When Minister Xia knew that his niece-in-law was coming, he hung up and immediately asked the person in charge of Uncle Chen’s investigation to come to his office. When Commander Xia, Mr. Fu, and Ye Jian arrived, Minister Xia was already prepared.

”We highly suspect that Chen Dongfeng’s case involves two major organizations. Two old cases…” In the conference room, Minister Xia told Ye Jian all the useful information they had. He didn’t skim over the details and told her everything.

The details made Commander Xia’s eyebrows jump a few times. His expression became even more serious.

It was completely unlike the style of the National Defense. Even though he had official business with the National Defense in the past, his brother had never explained things in such detail. Minister Xia would covertly pick a few points he wanted to know and send him away.

This time, he was so detailed. It was abnormal!

Ye Jian and Mr. Fu had never interacted with the National Defense before, so they didn’t know about it. They thought that Minister Xia was reporting to them in detail because of his brother, Commander Xia, and because of Xia Jinyuan.

”Chen Dongfeng carried out countless high-level missions and had countless enemies. I can’t reveal the details of the missions he was on. That year, he retired secretly because he was being watched by these two organizations. They offered one million USD to buy his life. In the early 1990s and late 1980s, one million USD was a huge fortune.

”Back then, after Chen Dongfeng met with danger a few times, the military had no choice but to arrange for him to fake his death and retire for the sake of his safety. The next 20 years were peaceful.

”However, after investigating Li Chuhai, the two organizations that we investigated started to make a move. That’s why we highly suspect that Chen Dongfeng’s assassination is very likely related to these two organizations.
