Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 383: Chapter 383: In this world, are there really any immortals?

”Greetings, Senior!”

Yu Long’s heart pounded, and he was so overcome with emotion that he dropped to his knees before Ye Yun with a thud.

”Stand up!”

Ye Yun smiled faintly, looked at the unfathomable, mist-shrouded Nether Immortal Cave, and suddenly asked, ”How long has the Nether Immortal Cave existed, and is there anything special about its heritage?”

Yu Long stood up and replied respectfully, ”Senior, the Nether Immortal Cave has existed for about 90,000 years. It’s said to contain the corpse of an Immortal, which is why the cave is filled with an abnormal abundance of Spiritual Energy from top to bottom. From the first Patriarch onwards, the entire sect constructed its buildings on the rock walls surrounding the Nether Immortal Cave, a tradition that has continued to this day.”

”The corpse of an Immortal?”

Ye Yun smiled faintly and then gently shook his head. Where in this world could one find an Immortal? After the Eternal Realm comes the True God. The ’Immortal’s corpse’ in this Nether Immortal Cave was clearly a fabrication meant to mislead.

Ye Yun shifted his gaze, looking at the demon beasts beside him.

His gaze swept over the demon beasts possessing the Dragon God Bloodline, finally settling on the Xuan bird perched atop the carriage.

”Xuan bird, you come down with me,” Ye Yun said with a smile.

If a conflict arose, he would naturally need the Xuan bird as his enforcer. As for Ye Yun himself, he had no intention of intervening. The demon beasts in this carriage were so powerful that there was no need for him, their Patriarch, to act. Moreover, the cultivation base of those in the Nether Immortal Cave was too low. With his Half-step Divine Venerate Realm cultivation base, Ye Yun disdained bullying the disciples of the Nether Immortal Cave.

”Alright, Master!” the Xuan bird exclaimed joyfully, instantly transforming into a streak of black light and landing beside Ye Yun.

The Master was giving him a task. The thought of a potential reward from the Master upon completing the task filled the Xuan bird with excitement. If possible, the Xuan bird also hoped to receive a piece of God-level armor.

”Let’s go. We’ll go down and take a look.”

Ye Yun looked at Yu Long, smiled serenely, and started walking towards the Nether Immortal Cave.

Yu Long quickly followed, a sense of unease in his heart. He lowered his head and whispered, ”Senior, the people of the Nether Immortal Cave are known for their arrogance and lack of judgment. I fear they might inadvertently offend you.”

”It’s no matter. Didn’t you see I brought a helper?” Ye Yun chuckled softly, patting the shoulder of the black-robed young man beside him.

”Master, I’m merely here to assist you. I wouldn’t dare say I’m truly ’helping’; I’m not yet qualified for that,” the Xuan bird said, immensely flattered by Ye Yun’s pat, its face flushing red.

He was just one of the many demon beasts in the Dragon God Sect. The Master singling him out this time was clearly a show of favor. A Supreme Major Sect would only have a few cultivators at the Life and Death Realm. To him, a great demon beast at the first level of the Eternal Realm, they were of no concern.

Ye Yun took a step and gently floated down through the swirling mist.

The Xuan bird and Yu Long followed closely behind him.

Ye Yun glanced at Yu Long and asked with a half-smile, ”How did you get infected with this potent poison?”

”Senior, the Spiritual Energy in the depths of the Nether Immortal Cave is dense, and many Spirit Fruits grow on the surrounding rock walls. I was poisoned after eating one such Spirit Fruit,” Yu Long explained.

”What about the others?” Ye Yun asked with a smile.

”Reporting to Senior, no one else was poisoned. I don’t know why the Spirit Fruit I consumed contained some strange, incurable poison. For the past three years, my father tried countless methods, consulted numerous renowned doctors, and I’ve taken many medicinal pills, but none could cure this potent poison.” As Yu Long recalled these past events, he couldn’t help but sigh repeatedly.

He had been the top prodigy of the Nether Immortal Cave. At a very young age, he had already reached the Peak of the Tenth Level of Destiny Realm, only one step away from the Life and Death Realm. But unexpectedly, a seemingly harmless Spirit Fruit had nearly claimed his life. Recalling it now, Yu Long still felt a lingering fear; those past events were too painful to revisit.

After listening to Yu Long’s explanation, Ye Yun nodded.

The Spirit Fruit Yu Long had consumed had unintentionally absorbed the toxic aura of the Nether Blood Green Wooden Dragon. Fortunately, it was merely a wisp of the toxic aura; otherwise, it would have claimed Yu Long’s life instantly.

Ye Yun then looked towards the depths of the Nether Immortal Cave. The area teeming with Spirit Fruits was lush and verdant, the Spiritual Energy even more concentrated there.

But who would have thought that hidden deep within these rocky walls was a Dragon Egg of the Nether Blood Green Wooden Dragon? This Dragon Egg had likely been incubating for a very long time and was now close to hatching. Once the Nether Blood Green Wooden Dragon emerged, everyone in the Nether Immortal Cave would be killed by the poisonous gas it released; no one would be spared. Ye Yun planned to give this Little Dragon a bit more time to incubate, allowing it to break out of its shell on its own. In the depths of the Nether Immortal Cave, there were other things that intrigued him more, as if waiting for him.

”Who goes there? How dare you trespass into my Nether Immortal Cave?” A loud shout suddenly echoed from the depths of the mist.

The mist churned and billowed outwards. Instantly, a clear, mist-free zone appeared in the space. About 40 to 50 people appeared, immediately surrounding Ye Yun and his companions.

”Yu Long, is that you? Weren’t you expelled from the Sect? How dare you return?” The leading elder narrowed his eyes, his gaze fixed on Yu Long opposite him, an annoyed expression on his face.

”Hmm, something’s not right! This boy was poisoned for three years and was already at death’s door. How is he suddenly so full of life and vigor?” another elder beside him frowned, scrutinizing Yu Long with a look of bewildered suspicion.

As he spoke, everyone turned to look at Yu Long. Upon closer inspection, it was indeed true. The Yu Long of today looked no different than he did three years ago. He looked vibrant and energetic; where was the frail, terminally ill appearance from before?

This discovery instantly stunned everyone present.

They all knew about the poison afflicting Yu Long... it was considered virtually incurable. After three years of suffering, Yu Long should have been utterly drained, on the verge of death. How could he have recovered all of a sudden? Could it be that the strange, deadly poison in his body had been cured by someone?

”Martial Uncles...” Yu Long clasped his fists and said respectfully, ”My poison was cured thanks to the benevolence of a Senior who bestowed upon me a supreme Sacred Healing Medicine, completely purging the potent poison from my body. This Senior wishes to visit the Nether Immortal Cave, so I hope you will not obstruct his path.”

Although he was no longer a member of the Nether Immortal Cave, Yu Long still spoke very politely. After all, having cultivated and lived in the Nether Immortal Cave for so many years, he was very familiar with these elders before him. He couldn’t bring himself to completely sever ties with them, at least not at this moment.

”You audacious Yu Long! How dare you bring a member of the Demon Clan into the Nether Immortal Cave! It seems you’ve betrayed the Human Race and defected to the Demon Clan, haven’t you?” Hearing Yu Long’s explanation, the elder looked towards Ye Yun and the black-robed young man beside him. His expression suddenly changed, and he roared in fury.

He couldn’t discern the cultivation base of the white-robed young man. However, the black-robed young man beside him was unmistakably a powerful great demon. The Human Race and the Demon Clan had always been at odds, like fire and water. For Yu Long to bring such a powerful great demon into the Nether Immortal Cave was a blatant provocation!

Upon this realization, all the cultivators of the Nether Immortal Cave became instantly livid. One after another, they drew their swords, their tips all pointed at Yu Long.
