Chapter 351: Chapter 351: The Candidate for the Covert Dragon Coffin

Atop the highest peak of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird, a black carriage rested quietly. The white sea of clouds surrounding the mountain peak shifted into an array of indistinct and unpredictable forms, reflecting the myriad variations of life in the world.

Ye Yun silently admired the beautiful vista of clouds from the mountain peak. Three days had passed since Mu Qing entered the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird.

On the day she entered the Sect Leader’s Main Hall, the Xuan bird revealed its true form, subduing all the Elders in the hall with its formidable bloodline. Ultimately, without any further objections, the Elders unanimously elected Saintess Mu Qing as the Sect Master of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird. The previous Sect Master, Gongsun Changsheng, and the Supreme Elder were subsequently cast from the Elders’ minds.

After all, the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird now hosted the inscrutable Xuan Bird Ancestor. Although the Xuan Bird Ancestor had not revealed its cultivation base, they still speculated it was at least at the Life and Death Realm. Such a cultivation base stood supreme across the entire Heavenly Moon Dynasty. The most powerful figures in the other three major factions were merely at the Half-Step Life-Death Realm. They simply could not be compared to the Xuan Bird Ancestor.

After becoming Sect Master, Mu Qing didn’t host a grand succession ceremony. Instead, she simply convened all the disciples for a straightforward announcement of her succession. The Xuan bird did not show itself to all the disciples of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird. It was sufficient that Mu Qing had the unanimous support of the Elders. It had long since returned to the carriage.

At Ye Yun’s instruction, the Big Black Horse had come to the highest peak of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird, planning to stay for a few days. Ye Yun was waiting for the phantoms of those Coffin Carriers to fade away. There were still six days left.

That day, Mu Qing, as Sect Master of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird, received a Sword-flying Messenger from the Xuanyang Sect. It wasn’t just the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird; the Mo Xue Sect and Zhengyi Jianmen also simultaneously received Sword-flying Messengers from the Xuanyang Sect. The message requested the Sect Masters to travel to the Xuanyang Sect to jointly discuss candidates for entering the Covert Dragon Coffin.

”That old fellow from the Xuanyang Sect is truly impatient... It’s understandable, though. His lifespan only has three years left,” Ye Yun smiled faintly.

Mu Qing, the newly appointed Sect Master of the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird, stood beside him. She had been accompanying Ye Yun for the past two days. After receiving the Sword-flying Messenger from the Xuanyang Sect, Mu Qing immediately informed her Master.

”Master, do you think we from the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird need to go?” Mu Qing asked from his side.

”You must attend this gathering of the Four Great Sects,” Ye Yun said with a smile, ”and you must aim to take the top spot, defeating the others. If you do, the Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird will no longer need to contribute materials for building the Covert Dragon Coffin, only a person.”

Hearing this, Mu Qing’s expression turned somewhat bitter. She didn’t quite understand. The Covert Dragon Coffin required someone on the verge of death. It seemed their Sacred Sect of the Mysterious Bird had no one with the qualifications to enter the Covert Dragon Coffin.

Ye Yun glanced back at the carriage and asked with a smile, ”Who among you is willing to enter the Covert Dragon Coffin and go explore the Dragon Cave?”

”Haha, Master, leave this excellent opportunity to me!” the Azure Sea Heavenly Dragon was the first to volunteer. As a Divine Monarch Realm cultivator, he found staying on the small Cangnan Continent incredibly dull. Transformed into a cute little blue cat, he spent his days languidly dozing in the carriage.

”Your realm is a bit too high. There’s no chance for you to act on the Cangnan Continent,” Ye Yun bluntly rejected the Azure Sea Heavenly Dragon’s request.

”Master, then let me go,” the Bloody Overlord Demonic Dragon was the second to volunteer.

”The Eternal Realm is also too high; it would be too easy to scare them off,” Ye Yun shook his head.

The Bloody Overlord Demonic Dragon looked dejected and flopped down onto the carriage.

The Big Black Horse grinned. Good thing I didn’t speak up earlier, or the Master would have refused me too.It seems those at the Eternal Realm can’t participate in this operation.

The Xuan bird on the carriage roof also kept its beak shut. It too had almost volunteered just a moment ago.

On the carriage, only the Big Black Cat and Little Cat were left. The Big Black Cat blinked several times, countless thoughts racing through its mind.

Little Cat let out an ”Eh?” then suddenly said rather naively, ”Big Bro, your Heavenly Fate Realm seems quite suitable, doesn’t it?”

”Really? Little Cat, this... this... going into a coffin is no laughing matter!” the Big Black Cat stammered. If everyone wasn’t watching, it really would have wanted to smack Little Cat on the head.It truly didn’t want to enter the Covert Dragon Coffin. That’s a place where the dead stay! Even if one isn’t dead... they’d become one of the living dead!It was currently strong and robust, brimming with vigorous blood and qi; why would it ever want to get into a coffin and become one of the living dead?

”Little Black Cat, I think you’re quite suitable.” The Azure Sea Heavenly Dragon’s gaze fell upon the Big Black Cat, and he suddenly chuckled. Fourth Level of the Heavenly Fate Realm. Although its cultivation base isn’t high, there really aren’t many other choices.Below that are the Nirvana Realm cultivation bases of several senior brothers and sisters. Then there’s Little Cat at the Divine Bridge Realm. Those cultivation bases are all too low; they probably couldn’t even get into the Covert Dragon Coffin.

”Master, those at the Heavenly Fate Realm can enter, but I fear that a Nine-tailed Spirit Cat at the Fourth Level of the Heavenly Fate Realm might not be up to the standards of the Coffin Carriers,” Mu Qing carefully chose her words as she spoke from the side.

”Let it go then. As for its cultivation base, I’ll make it appear to be a great cultivator at the Half-Step Life-Death Realm,” Ye Yun chuckled dismissively, ultimately appointing the Big Black Cat.

The Big Black Cat’s face instantly contorted as if it had eaten a bitter melon, unsure of what to say. It was Little Cat beside it who reminded it.

”Big Bro, the Master has arranged such a great opportunity for you, and you’re not willing to accept it? I really wish I could go, but I can’t even if I wanted to!” Little Cat said with envy.

These words instantly ignited the Big Black Cat’s inner world like a flame; enlightenment dawned on it. This was a mission personally assigned by the Master! As long as it completed the mission assigned by the Master, how could the Master possibly shortchange it on rewards?

”Master, rest assured! I will definitely complete this mission!” the Big Black Cat abruptly stood up, vowing with conviction.

WHAP!

A black horsetail descended from above, swatting the Big Black Cat flat onto the carriage.

”Little cat, look at you, so promising. Realizing it now, isn’t it a bit late?” the Big Black Horse turned its head, its bright eyes staring at the Big Black Cat, which was almost pressed into a meat patty. It smacked its lips and chuckled.

”Mending the fold even after the sheep is lost is not too late,” Ye Yun chuckled, then stepped into the carriage. ”Let Little Black Cat go.”

”Let’s go. We’re taking a trip to the Xuanyang Sect,” Ye Yun’s voice drifted faintly from inside the carriage.

The Big Black Horse immediately wiped the smile from its face, its four hooves moved, and it pulled the carriage into the sea of clouds. Mu Qing also hurried onto the carriage and went inside. She boiled a kettle of water and brewed another cup of tea for Ye Yun.

The Big Black Cat wobbled a few times, its body returning from its pancake-like state to normal. Although it had been thrashed quite miserably, the Big Black Cat was already accustomed to Uncle Ma’s unique way of showing affection.

”Little Cat! Thank you for reminding me! Once I complete the Master’s task, if there are any rewards, I’ll be sure to think of you,” the Big Black Cat said, reaching out its paw and lightly patting Little Cat on the head.

The pat looked very light. But when it landed on Little Cat’s head, it was as if she had been struck by five thunderbolts. She saw stars, and fainted on the spot.
