The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1699: Chapter 1699: Are you afraid something might happen?

The lights flickered, and the clinking of glasses intertwined.

Alfred Weaver truly handled his wine well. Perhaps it had been a long time since he had relaxed like this, drinking without restraint.

The two of them chatted as they drank, gradually becoming slightly intoxicated. After all, the wine they were drinking was no ordinary wine, but rather immortal brew crafted from an immortal elixir!

Under the light, Alfred Weaver’s complexion was rosy, his lips moist, alluring as a peach blossom, and his eyes dreamy, as if he were a captivating dream.

Carson Flores’ heart couldn’t help but beat fiercely a few times.

Between him and Alfred Weaver, there had always been a vague relationship slightly beyond ordinary friendship. Now meeting again, with the wine entering his heart, emotions started to rise.

“Carson, do you regret it?”

Carson smiled and said, “Regret what?”

“Regret saving me.”

Alfred Weaver propped his chin with one hand, looking straight at Carson Flores: “If you hadn’t saved me, you wouldn’t have been targeted by Maggie Fitzgerald and fallen into danger time and time again.”

Carson laughed freely and said, “If I hadn’t saved you, I’d still be fighting the Demon Race in the Mortal Realm. How could I have ascended to become immortal?”

Alfred Weaver shook his head, his voice sweet and soft, “I mean the matter on Skyland Continent, where Maggie Fitzgerald tried to assassinate me; she didn’t even know of your existence initially.”

Carson shook his head, “We’re friends who have shared hardships. Saying this is meaningless. Besides, look at me now, haven’t I come to the Celestial Palace to cling to you as a thigh-hugger? Isn’t this a poor boy meeting a rich and beautiful lady, having a highlight moment in life?”

“If I didn’t know you, how could I be sitting here drinking with the Master of the Immortal Domain? Not to mention drinking, I probably couldn’t even get through the gates of the Celestial Palace…”

Alfred Weaver stared blankly at Carson, then suddenly sighed, “It’s a pity you’ve already married, otherwise, I would definitely marry you.”

Carson Flores’ heart pounded fiercely a few more times.

Even knowing this was just a hypothetical statement, which man could resist such temptation?

Don’t even consider her status as the daughter of the Domain Master; her beauty alone would be enough to make any man’s heart flutter.

Carson held his wine glass, taking a sip to calm his emotions, and gently smiled, “Yes, I’m married.”

Alfred Weaver’s eyes sparkled as he stared at Carson, “Will you continue to help me until Heavenly Alliance is defeated?”

Carson nodded, “Naturally, if I don’t defeat them, they’ll always keep me on their mind, and that’s not okay. Last time I nearly got killed, and I don’t want to go through that again.”

Alfred Weaver’s eyes opened wider, “Then won’t you have to spend a long time… staying in the Celestial Palace?”

Carson laughed, “Not necessarily staying in the Celestial Palace. Some things need someone to handle.”

Alfred Weaver raised his glass, “Thank you, truly. I’m really happy you came.”

“When I returned to the Celestial Palace, I waited for you. Yet, although you ascended, you wouldn’t come to the Celestial Palace to find me. I had to go seek you out. I was worried you’d distance yourself because of my status, but now I’m finally reassured.”

Carson and Alfred Weaver clinked their glasses, saying with a smile, “I’ll need you to take care of me from now on.”

The two exchanged smiles, their glances filled with mutual understanding.

You know my heart, and I know your intent.

Carson finished his wine and flipped his cup over with a smile, “Alright, let’s conclude here today. If I drink any more, I’ll embarrass myself, which would ruin my image.”

Alfred Weaver burst into laughter, “You, truly, when you think about it, your life is truly extraordinary. In such a short time, you’ve gone from having nothing to where you are now…”

Carson replied, “That’s because I had help from benefactors along the way. In the Barbaric Wilderness Realm, I was fortunate enough to join my sect. Although my master didn’t manage much, he treated me well, and my senior brothers and sisters treated me even better, especially my senior sister…”

“Your senior sister loves you.”

Alfred Weaver suddenly interrupted him and said with a smile, “I’m quite clear about that.”

Carson awkwardly touched his nose, “I’m already married.”

“Yes, you’re already married.”

Alfred Weaver’s tone was subtle, “That’s a good excuse for you to reject others, and a good reason for a woman to let go, but unfortunately, in this world, things aren’t so clearly defined…”

Carson didn’t know what to say for a moment. Yes, human emotions are like vines; rationality tells the vines not to grow like this, but the vines have their own ideas, sprawling wildly.

Not knowing what else to say, Carson remained silent for a few seconds, then stood up and smiled, “We’ve had quite a bit to drink today, let’s rest early. Tomorrow, we’ll go together to see Grandpa Patel.”

Alfred Weaver stood up, his white robe billowing, like a fairy, sacred, yet capturing one’s gaze.

With great effort, Carson turned his gaze, “I’ll sleep first. You should rest early too!”

Without waiting for Alfred Weaver to say anything more, Carson quickly turned and left.

Alfred Weaver remained silent, merely watching Carson’s retreating back, his gaze subtle.

Are you running away?

Afraid of saying something more?

Afraid you’ll do something impulsively?

Alfred Weaver pressed his lips together, his gaze becoming more and more misty, with a hint of loneliness within.

What is this feeling within myself?

Affection?

Or perhaps… love?
