The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1698: Chapter 1698 This Celestial Palace Seems Rather Shabby

”Previously, Maggie’s father was the Guard Commander, and after you returned?”

Alfred Weaver smiled coldly and said, ”What else? He ran away with a guilty conscience. She’s his own daughter, while I’m just the boss’s daughter. Can you even compare?”

Carson Flores nodded, ”Who’s the Guard Commander now?”

Alfred Weaver replied, ”Uncle Vance, you’ve met him.”

Carson Flores nodded, ”When your father was around, it didn’t matter what the Guard Commander’s strength was, but now that you’re in charge of the Sect, you need someone capable of protecting you. Otherwise, if the Heavenly Alliance attacks the Celestial Palace with full force, you won’t even be able to escape.”

Alfred Weaver acknowledged, ”Currently, there are five Guard Commanders in the Celestial Palace, all with Heavenly Immortal strength. Among them, Uncle Vance is the Chief Guard Commander. The Guard Camp has one hundred members, among whom thirty-five have True Immortal strength, and sixty-five have Golden Immortal strength.”

Carson Flores nodded, ”Not bad, but lacking top-level combat power.”

Alfred Weaver nodded, ”My father was strong enough himself, so he didn’t need many people around him. When he really needed people, he would issue the Immortal Palace Order to summon the Great Sects.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”Yeah, your father had that deterrence power. Whoever didn’t show up, he’d lead his men to flatten them, so no one dared not to come!”

Looking at Carson Flores, Alfred Weaver said, ”I’ll visit Grandpa Patel later, would you accompany me?”

”Grandpa Patel?”

Alfred Weaver explained, ”He’s the first Chief Guard Commander I mentioned. He’s very old. Even my father called him Uncle Patel, so I call him Grandpa Patel, and he really treats me like a granddaughter.”

Carson Flores readily agreed, ”Sure!”

He originally came here to help Alfred Weaver. Though his combat ability was far inferior, it wasn’t important.

What the Celestial Palace lacked now wasn’t just a few Heavenly Immortals; it needed a correct approach.

Carson Flores wasn’t particularly smart, but the situation in the Celestial Palace now was much like the weak emperors or young emperors of many dynasties, giving Carson Flores plenty of historical parallels to draw upon.

Whether it was ordinary people vying for power or Cultivators competing for power and cultivation resources, it was pretty much the same.

The core of the struggle hadn’t changed; only the method of fighting had.

Human nature remained constant, unchanged through the ages!

Alfred Weaver had also spent some time in the Mortal Realm and had knowledge of its history, so when Carson mentioned these things, Alfred quickly understood.

It wasn’t that she didn’t understand; it was just that she’d never played such a grand game before, and was a bit hesitant at heart, afraid of messing things up.

But once she cleared her mind, there was nothing to fear. Maggie had already sent people to assassinate her—could anything be worse than that?

Could anything be worse than being suppressed for ten thousand years?

Once Alfred Weaver made up her mind, she’d make decisions swiftly and decisively, without hesitation.

During their conversation, Carson learned about the Celestial Palace and found it incredibly simplistic, even to the point of being slapdash.

In the Celestial Palace, the only master was Alfred Weaver. Besides her, there was the Immortal Palace Guard Squad responsible for security, and a life manager overseeing all the servants and managing the lives of everyone in the Celestial Palace.

Aunt Lei was the life manager, and Vance Holt was the Chief Guard Commander. No wonder she came out last time with just the two of them and no one else.

And that’s it!

Yes, there’s nothing else—not even any strategists, as Carson mentioned!

According to Alfred Weaver, the Celestial Palace was always a place where martial power reigned supreme. When her father was around, his words were the unquestionable law, so why would he need any strategists?

The Chief Guard Commander was always present in the Celestial Palace, while the other four Guard Commanders were divided into two groups, taking turns on duty. The one hundred guards operated similarly, split into two groups taking shifts.

Having heard all this, Carson couldn’t help but smile wryly. The Celestial Palace was indeed quite slapdash.

It probably couldn’t even compare to a Great Sect.

A major force like the Top Ten Immortal Sects should have more than five Heavenly Immortals and dozens of Golden Immortals, right?

Who knows how powerful Nico Weaver was, relying on his strength alone to keep so many formidable opponents from daring to covet the Celestial Palace over the long years.

Perhaps he was too heartbroken over his lost daughter or had achieved a breakthrough and moved on to the Great Land Supreme, entering the High Immortal Realm?

Carson Flores thought for a moment, even though the Celestial Palace had few people, it was because Nico Weaver himself didn’t care for luxury and was obsessed with cultivation. Those external matters were of no concern to him, but it didn’t mean the Celestial Palace had to remain at such a scale.

As long as Nico Weaver willed it, with a single order, this place could be teeming with powerhouses!

In the evening, Alfred Weaver arranged a lavish banquet to welcome Carson Flores, as a gesture of gratitude for his past help.

”How about a drink?”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Just the two of us, let’s not drink.”

Alfred Weaver insisted, ”How can a banquet be without wine? Even though it’s a banquet for two people, it’s still a banquet. We should drink, I’ll drink with you!”

Carson Flores laughed, ”How’s your drinking capacity?”

Alfred Weaver smiled coyly, ”It’s decent, don’t worry, I’ll keep you company, and I won’t leave you hanging just when you’re getting into the spirit...”
