Chapter 1669: Chapter 1669: Plucking Feathers from Passing Geese?

“Young master, are we heading to the Celestial Palace now?”

“No!”

With his eyes on the map before him, Carson Flores smiled and said, “Let’s go on an adventure first.”

“An adventure?”

June Weiss was puzzled, “Where are we going to explore?”

Carson replied, “To the cave mansion of a Peak Heavenly Immortal. It’s said this Heavenly Immortal also perished there. Let’s take a look and see what we can find.”

A Peak Heavenly Immortal’s cave mansion?

June Weiss and Mona Briggs exchanged a glance, each seeing the astonishment in the other’s eyes.

How could Carson speak so casually about this!

For ordinary cultivators, such an immortal fate might not be encountered even once in a lifetime, yet Carson spoke as if it were just a place hosting a banquet, where we could pass by, casually give a gift, enjoy a feast, and then continue on our way.

Just that casual!

Carson didn’t notice their looks because, for him, a Peak Heavenly Immortal’s cave mansion was indeed very attractive, but not something to overly anticipate.

The fact that a Peak Heavenly Immortal fell here, barring special circumstances, implies this Peak Heavenly Immortal exhausted his life force and failed to breakthrough to the Great Land Supreme.

Carson’s master, Bank Austin, broke through to the Great Land Supreme using the Sky Sword’s comprehension of the Sword Path, and logically, he should be stronger than this Peak Heavenly Immortal, right?

Exploration was necessary, but there wasn’t much excitement.

The cave mansion was located in the central Heavenly Profound Continent, conveniently on the way to the Celestial Palace, so there’s no need to take a detour.

Carson chose the commercial Flying Boat again. Onboard, he could cultivate in his room, and upon arrival, someone would naturally inform him, eliminating worries about missing the stop. Isn’t this much more comfortable than piloting the Flying Boat himself throughout the journey?

Meanwhile.

On the city wall, Aron Bernard watched Evan Foster and the others depart with a face full of regret and resentment.

In the Divine Wood Palace, Carson and Samantha Tate kept to themselves, rarely appearing, leaving Aron no chance to act. Thus, he resorted to tampering with one of Evan Foster’s maidens to secretly track them.

He initially thought the two would separate after leaving the Divine Wood Palace, allowing him to follow Carson and stealthily kill him. However, they continued together, speeding up and running wildly after some distance, causing Aron to frequently lose track.

Finally tracking them to the city, Aron spotted Evan Foster and his group and kept an eye on them, but after some time, he realized Carson had already disappeared!

When did Carson separate from Evan and the others?

Weren’t they together?

Amidst a vast sea of people and an endless sky, where could he possibly search?

Damn, wasn’t this a wasted trip for him?

Aron slapped the city wall in frustration, his heart full of resentment.

Carson, consider yourself lucky!

The next time we meet, I will surely kill you!

…

Unaware of his near miss with trouble, Carson was peacefully in seclusion aboard the Shangzhou.

Two months later, Carson arrived at his destination.

It was a vast inland mystical lake, sprawling over a thousand miles with islands scattered throughout.

The Peak Heavenly Immortal named Clayton Gross had his cave mansion hidden within these expansive waters.

Yes, it wasn’t on the islands but beneath the lake.

Carson and his two companions had only flown a hundred miles into the waters when sword light soared into the Heavenly Dome, blocking their path.

“Halt your advance!”

Carson stopped the Flying Boat and cupped his hands, asking, “Just passing by, may I know what’s happening here?”

The three white-robed young men blocking the Flying Boat, led by one, sneered, “Passing by? Haha, do you think I believe that?”

Carson frowned and asked, “Why wouldn’t you believe it?”

The young man laughed heartily, “If you’re merely passing by, you can take a detour. This path is not open.”

Carson asked, “Why can’t we pass through here? Has something happened?”

The young man laughed, “Our Mountain Ridge Monarchy Sect has established a branch here, so naturally, we can’t let anyone come and go freely. Of course, if you are here searching for the cave mansion of the Immortal Gao, there is a fee to be paid.”

Immortal Gao?

Clayton Gross?

Carson showed a helpless expression, “I heard some mysterious rumors about an Immortal’s cave mansion here and came to take a look. So, there’s a fee?”

The young man chuckled, “Pay the fee, and the thousand-mile lake is at your disposal to explore. If not, please take a detour.”

Carson relaxed, realizing they were just seeking to charge a fee?

Plucking feathers from a flying goose?

Carson asked, “Friend, I’m just here to try my luck and see if I have any immortal fate. I know nothing about the situation inside. Could you tell me more and explain the fee structure?”

The young man casually replied, “Legend has it that a Peak Heavenly Immortal named Gao stole a powerful cultivation technique from the High Immortal Realm. He was pursued and fled all the way to our Thunder Immortal Realm, where he was severely injured and hid under this thousand-mile water. What transpired remains unknown, but it’s said he died here.”

“It’s rumored he left behind a map and a token before his death. With the map, one can locate the cave mansion, and with the token, one can enter it…”
