Immortal Sword Master

Chapter 467: Chapter 463: The Mastermind, the Black Envoy

As their fists and palms collided, a tremendous shockwave instantly swept out in all directions.

The ground trembled and cracked, and countless bamboo stalks were pulverized by the force of the shockwave.

”Let’s get back.”

The others had already retreated far into the distance, not daring to get too close. A single punch or palm strike from either man had the power to injure even an Earth Martial Realm expert.

Now that they were clashing head-on, the terrifying display of power made even Hua Feiyu’s heart tremble.

When everything settled, the beautiful bamboo forest had been razed to the ground. The earth was covered in massive fissures, a scene of utter devastation.

Meng Zihao’s expression became incredibly grave. From their exchange, he had personally experienced Ning Jiang’s strength. Moreover, he had a nagging feeling that this wasn’t even Ning Jiang’s full power.

’An expert like this can’t possibly be unknown in the Meteor Sea Region. He must have come from somewhere else!’ Meng Zihao thought.

”Meng Zihao, do you still want to fight? I told you, with Mr. Ning here, you won’t be able to harm Chu Qingqing,” Meng Tianyu said coldly.

Meng Zihao’s eyes narrowed, a cold glint surging within them, but he soon calmed down. He took a deep breath and said, ”With your strength, you’ll surely participate in the Meteor Festival tomorrow. We can settle things once and for all at the festival then.”

The Meteor Festival was about to begin. A fight to the death with Ning Jiang here would not be wise.

Besides, in his opinion, having a formidable rival like Ning Jiang at the Meteor Festival would only make defeating him more interesting. After all, he currently had virtually no opponents left in the Meteor Sea Region.

”I will be participating in the Meteor Festival.”

Ning Jiang said lightly. That Power of Stars was something he was determined to obtain. He would crush anyone who stood in his way.

”Feiyu, let’s go.”

Meng Zihao shot Ning Jiang one last cold glance, then turned and left with a deeply resentful Hua Feiyu.

”Mr. Ning’s strength is astonishing. Even Meng Zihao couldn’t do anything to him.”

Chu Hong exclaimed in shock, his awe and reverence for Ning Jiang growing even deeper.

In this world, the strong are always respected. What’s more, for a young expert like Ning Jiang, with his boundless potential and bright future, becoming a Heaven-Reaching Realm expert was a certainty. Even reaching the level of a Celestial Martial Realm King was not entirely out of the question.

”Chu Qingqing, so? I told you to come serve Mr. Ning. Do you still feel wronged?”

Meng Tianyu asked.

At his words, Chu Qingqing fell silent, at a loss for words.

”Alright, Meng Tianyu, I appreciate the thought, but let her go back,” Ning Jiang said lightly.

Chu Qingqing froze for a moment, then a bitter smile touched her lips. Ning Jiang’s underlying meaning was clear: he wasn’t interested in her; he looked down on her.

This, paradoxically, made her feel even worse. She was a genius of the Meteor Sea Region, and there was no shortage of suitors. But Ning Jiang was the first to be so cold and indifferent to her.

”Meng Tianyu, there’s something I need to discuss with you in private,” Ning Jiang said.

Startled, Meng Tianyu quickly arranged for his subordinates to lead Chu Qingqing and the others away.

After they had left, Meng Tianyu’s expression turned serious. ”What is it that Mr. Ning wishes to say?”

”Regarding the person who wants you dead in the Meteor Sea Region... I think I have a lead,” Ning Jiang said, his words startling.

”What?” Meng Tianyu was stunned. ”Who is it? If I find out, I will never let them get away with it!”

It was the first time in his life that Meng Tianyu had ever been hunted. If not for his good luck in running into Ning Jiang, he would be a corpse at the bottom of the sea by now.

”If I’m not mistaken, it should be that sworn brother of yours, Meng Zihao,” Ning Jiang said, his eyes narrowing.

Meng Tianyu looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. His body trembled violently, and even his voice shook. ”Mr. Ning, you can’t be serious?”

Ning Jiang shook his head and said lightly, ”I managed to preserve one of the assassin’s Primordial Spirits. Unfortunately, before we could question it, the Primordial Spirit self-immolated. Just then, I detected a faint aura within it—an aura identical to that of your sworn brother!”

”I believe it was your sworn brother who placed a restriction in the assassins’ Primordial Spirits. Of course, whether you believe me or not is up to you.”

”Of course I believe you! Mr. Ning, you saved my life. What reason would you have to deceive me? And if it is Meng Zihao, then everything makes sense. He was the only one who knew my whereabouts at the time!”

A sharp, cold light glinted in Meng Tianyu’s eyes. ”And if I die, then everything Father controls now will one day be his!”

Meng Zihao’s current position was actually quite awkward. After all, he was an adopted son, not related by blood.

But if Meng Tianyu were to die, everything would change. As the adopted son, he would truly become the Young Master of Meteor Island—second to one, and above all others.

”And more importantly... I bet he’s also after the spot I was given.”

Meng Tianyu slowly clenched his fists.

’A spot?’

Ning Jiang’s interest was piqued. He knew this must involve something incredibly important, but he wasn’t one for gossip and couldn’t be bothered to ask.

”What are you going to do now?” Ning Jiang asked casually.

”Father is currently in seclusion, so I can’t see him. But it’s fine. Now that I know it’s Meng Zihao who wants me dead, I can be on my guard. Besides, he wouldn’t dare make a move against me here on Meteor Island.”

...

「Inside a dim, great hall.」

”Damn it! Where did that Meng Tianyu find such an expert? It seems this is the man who killed the assassins I sent!” an angry voice roared.

At this moment, Meng Zihao’s face was grim. As he spoke, as if to vent his fury, he shattered a nearby chair into dust with a single palm strike.

”Meng Zihao, what is it? Did something go wrong?”

Just then, a voice echoed from a dark corner of the hall. A figure flickered in and out of view, seeming to be one with the shadows.

”Black Envoy, what are you doing here?”

Meng Zihao was startled; he hadn’t even noticed the other’s arrival.

”Heh heh heh... The Lord sent me to check on you and to ensure you can take first place in tomorrow’s Meteor Festival to coordinate with his plan. From the looks of it, has there been a problem?”

The voice of this man called the Black Envoy was ethereal and unfixed, sounding from the left one moment and the right the next, making it impossible to pinpoint his location.

”There have been some complications. Meng Tianyu found an expert from somewhere. He’s a powerful opponent. Even I don’t have absolute confidence against him.”

Meng Zihao said honestly, admitting how troublesome Ning Jiang was.

”No matter. The Lord has prepared something for you this time and had me deliver it.”

As the Black Envoy spoke, an object was tossed through the air, landing in Meng Zihao’s hand.

”This is...” Meng Zihao gasped, an ecstatic look instantly appearing in his eyes. ”Please, Black Envoy, thank the Lord for me! With this, victory is assured!”
