Immortal Sword Master

Chapter 454: Chapter 450: Hua Feiyu Saved the Chu Family?

After the Blood Skull Pirate Gang was annihilated by a mysterious expert, everyone on the ship was overcome with the ecstatic joy of survival.

The crowd chattered excitedly, discussing what had just happened.

”Who would have thought the infamously fierce Blood Skull Pirate Gang would be wiped out just like that?”

”What a shame we couldn’t even catch a glimpse of that mysterious expert. I would have thanked them in person if I could have.”

”Forget it. Masters like that have their pride. We were incredibly lucky they even deigned to save us. We can’t ask for more.”

The discussion continued endlessly.

”Qingqing.”

Suddenly, a voice drifted down from the sky, reaching everyone’s ears.

All eyes turned to see a graceful young man descend into their midst. Dressed in white and holding a folding fan, he looked dashing and exceptionally suave.

”It’s Young Master Hua Feiyu.”

The crowd gasped in surprise. This man clearly had an extraordinary background.

”Could it have been Young Master Hua Feiyu who saved us?”

”It’s very likely. Young Master Hua Feiyu certainly has the strength for it.”

Amidst their speculation, the crowd began to see the young man before them, Hua Feiyu, as their savior.

”If I may ask, Young Master Hua Feiyu, was it you who just killed the entire Blood Skull Pirate Gang?” a Chu Family guard couldn’t help but ask.

At these words, a flicker of light crossed Hua Feiyu’s eyes. He was no fool; a glance at the surrounding corpses told him the Chu Family had been attacked.

In truth, the commotion from the battle had drawn him over, which was why he was here. However, he knew perfectly well that he wasn’t the one who had intervened...

”Young Master Hua is a humble man, not someone who likes to boast or take credit. He probably hesitated to reveal himself, debating whether to let us know it was him.”

”Haha, that makes sense. I doubt Young Master Hua saved us just to receive our thanks.”

Seeing Hua Feiyu’s silence, the crowd took it as a tacit admission, becoming even more convinced that he was their savior.

This savior, perhaps, just preferred to keep a low profile?

To the side, Chu Qingqing felt that something was off but couldn’t quite put her finger on it. She said, ”Hua Feiyu, if you saved us, consider me in your debt.”

Hearing this, Hua Feiyu’s heart stirred. He did not correct the misunderstanding.

”Qingqing, there’s no need to be so formal. You know how I feel about you,” Hua Feiyu said, a fervent heat in his gaze.

Chu Qingqing averted her gaze and shook her head. ”My heart is set only on the Sword Dao. Romantic affairs are not what I seek.”

A flash of displeasure crossed Hua Feiyu’s eyes, but he didn’t press the issue. The fact that Chu Qingqing had once dared to leave the Meteor Sea Region and travel to the Six Eastern Provinces alone spoke volumes about her personality.

Pushing the matter would only annoy her.

”He’s lying.”

Just then, a delicate voice, filled with anger, rang out.

All eyes turned to see that the speaker was none other than Chu Xiu’Er.

She glared at Hua Feiyu, her little face filled with indignation. ”It obviously wasn’t you who saved us! Why didn’t you deny it?”

”Second Miss, if Young Master Hua didn’t save us, who else could it have been?”

”That’s right. Young Master Hua has already reached the Earth Martial Realm at such a young age. He’s one of the top three figures of the younger generation in our Meteor Sea Region. Why would he lie?”

The guards chimed in one after another.

”The one who saved us wasn’t him, it was Brother Ning.”

Chu Xiu’Er said with the utmost seriousness. Although she hadn’t seen Ning Jiang make a move with her own eyes, she had a powerful intuition that it had to be him.

”Him?”

The crowd was dumbfounded. Their gazes fell upon Ning Jiang, only to find him still leaning against the railing, fast asleep and completely oblivious to everything.

”Second Miss, you must be joking. The Cultivation fluctuations from this person are only at the Spirit Realm. It couldn’t possibly be him.”

”Exactly. When the Blood Skull Pirates showed up, he just stood there and did nothing. He was probably scared stiff.”

”Besides, his origins are a mystery. He was severely injured when we first found him. Who’s to say the appearance of the Blood Skull Pirate Gang isn’t connected to him?”

”Shut up!” Chu Xiu’Er’s face flushed red with anger. ”I won’t allow you to speak ill of Brother Ning!”

The guards immediately fell silent. No matter how they felt, Chu Xiu’Er was the pearl of the Chu Family, and her status was far above theirs.

But the disdain in their eyes was still plain to see.

Not a single one of them believed it could have been Ning Jiang.

Chu Qingqing also shook her head and said, ”Alright, Xiu’Er, stop talking nonsense.”

”Sister, I’m not talking nonsense! It was Brother Ning...”

”Enough!” Chu Qingqing suddenly barked coldly, her tone severe. ”Are you really going to talk back to your own sister for a stranger?”

In Chu Qingqing’s experience, Chu Xiu’Er had always been well-behaved and sweet. She always hung on her every word and never dared to talk back. Yet this time, she was arguing with her over Ning Jiang.

This caused her to become deeply dissatisfied with Ning Jiang, believing he was a bad influence on Xiu’Er.

”But...” Chu Xiu’Er started to say.

Chu Qingqing’s gaze grew even colder. ”If you insist on saying it was him, I’ll kick him off the ship as soon as he wakes up.”

Facing such a stern Chu Qingqing, Chu Xiu’Er pressed her lips together, finally not daring to argue any further. When her sister was this stern, she was more imposing than their own parents.

She said nothing, silently returning to Ning Jiang’s side and whispering, ”Brother Ning, none of them believe you, but I know... the one who saved us was you...”

”My apologies for that display, Hua Feiyu.”

Chu Qingqing said, turning to Hua Feiyu with an apologetic look.

”It’s nothing. She’s still young, so it’s normal for her to be a bit naive,” Hua Feiyu said with a wave of his hand. He glanced at Ning Jiang, and upon sensing his Spirit Realm aura, he naturally paid him no mind.

’It must have been some passing master who saved Qingqing and her people. They just happened to mistake me for their savior. Now that the misunderstanding has taken root, I might as well use this opportunity to make Qingqing owe me a favor...’ Hua Feiyu thought.

”Hua Feiyu, your appearance here... I assume it’s for the upcoming Meteor Festival?” Chu Qingqing said, changing the subject.

”Huh? The Meteor Festival is about to start?”

Some of the surrounding guards were startled.

”The Meteor Festival is held once every five years. All the greatest geniuses from across the Meteor Sea Region will gather in the Meteor Land to discuss the Dao, compete in martial arts, and determine this generation’s champion. They’ll also be vying for the opportunities hidden within the Meteor Land.”

”I wonder who will take the top spot this time and become the number one of the younger generation in the Meteor Sea Region.”

Many of the guards began to chatter excitedly. Even though the grand event was for young geniuses and had nothing to do with them, the chance to spectate was still a welcome prospect.

「The night passed without incident.」

Ning Jiang slept until noon the next day before slowly waking up.
