Immortal Sword Master

Chapter 461: Chapter 457: Capture Chu Qingqing

Back on the Chu Family’s ship, Chu Qingqing and Hua Feiyu had spoken of the Meteor Festival. It was a grand event held once every five years where all the great geniuses of the Meteor Sea Region would gather. They would discuss the Dao and compete in martial arts to determine the champion of their generation, as well as to vie for a great opportunity.

The place they had mentioned was Meteor Island.

Hearing Ning Jiang’s words, Meng Tianyu knew he was truly not from the Meteor Sea Region. After all, it was impossible for a local genius to be unaware of such a grand event.

”Sir, the Meteor Festival is indeed held on Meteor Island,” Meng Tianyu explained.

According to him, Meteor Island was the largest and most famous island in the Meteor Sea Region, not least because his father, a King of his generation, presided over it.

Meteor Island also had a grand origin.

Tens of thousands of years ago, a massive Meteor Fragment fell into this area, which is how it came to be known as the Meteor Sea Region.

”I heard that the Meteor Fragment was created when two supreme Venerables fought in the Beyond the Heavens and shattered a small star, but I don’t know if that’s true or not,” Meng Tianyu said in awe.

Ning Jiang remained silent. He knew that Venerables were indeed capable of such a feat.

Given the power of a Venerable, a battle within the Great Thousand Realms would cause immense and irreversible damage. That was why Venerables usually fought in the Beyond the Heavens.

The Beyond the Heavens was a vast cosmos, the only place a Venerable could fight without restraint.

Venerables could indeed shatter smaller stars.

”And what is this ’great opportunity’ you mentioned?” Ning Jiang asked.

Meng Tianyu replied, ”That Meteor Fragment constantly absorbs the Power of Stars from the heavens. Every five years, it accumulates a significant amount. This power, once absorbed, is potent enough to allow someone to break through to the next Realm.”

”Power of Stars!”

Ning Jiang’s gaze sharpened. ’In my past life, I cultivated the Myriad Stars Flying Immortal Technique,’ he thought. ’The very foundation of that Technique is the Power of Stars...’

”It seems I’ll have to attend this Meteor Festival after all,” Ning Jiang said.

”Sir, if you want the Power of Stars, I can speak with my father and have him give it to you directly. After all, the Meng Family is hosting the Meteor Festival.”

Meng Tianyu said hurriedly. Compared to having Ning Jiang lift his bloodline curse, giving him the Power of Stars was nothing at all.

”That won’t be necessary. It’s a long-standing tradition. If you were to suddenly break it, you would incite public outrage.”

Ning Jiang waved his hand dismissively.

”You’re right. With your strength, Sir, you can simply win the Power of Stars for yourself,” Meng Tianyu said with a flattering tone.

As the two conversed, a fleet of large ships shot across the sea’s surface like arrows.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Figures flew out from the ships. The strongest among them exuded an aura that had reached the Earth Martial Realm Peak, just one step away from the Heaven-Reaching Realm!

”We were late in coming to your rescue, Young Master. Please forgive us.”

The group arrived before Meng Tianyu and quickly cupped their fists in a salute.

”Hmph.” Meng Tianyu’s expression darkened at the sight of them. He snorted coldly, ”What use are any of you? Do you realize I was almost killed?!”

”Please calm your anger, Young Master.”

The leader, a large man named Qingyi, hurriedly explained, ”The moment we learned you were in danger, Young Master, we rushed here. However, a mysterious Heaven-Reaching Realm expert appeared and trapped us, which is why we were unable to rescue you in time.”

”A Heaven-Reaching Realm expert?”

Meng Tianyu’s eyes turned cold. ”It seems the people who want me dead are backed by a significant power!”

”Are these subordinates of yours pirates?” Ning Jiang asked nonchalantly.

Meng Tianyu detected the indifference in Ning Jiang’s voice and his heart tightened. He immediately explained, ”Sir, please don’t misunderstand. It’s true that they are pirates, but they aren’t like the ones who burn, pillage, and commit all sorts of atrocities...”

After hearing Meng Tianyu’s explanation, Ning Jiang gained a clearer understanding of the situation in the Meteor Sea Region.

According to him, the pirates of the Meteor Sea Region were divided into two main factions. One was supported by his father, the Meteor King.

The other was backed by a King from a neighboring sea region known as the Sea-Splitting King.

”The Sea-Splitting King and my father are mortal enemies. Even the bloodline curse in my body is his handiwork. He supports numerous pirate crews in the Meteor Sea Region just to cause chaos, letting them stir up trouble and do as they please.”

Meng Tianyu gritted his teeth as he spoke of the Sea-Splitting King, his face contorted with hatred.

’If it weren’t for the Sea-Splitting King, would my cultivation be stuck at the Innate Realm? Would I be mocked by countless people behind my back?’

”The Sea-Splitting King is a notch stronger than my father, so my father can’t do anything about him. He can only turn a blind eye. Otherwise, he would never tolerate these pirates wreaking havoc here. After all, this is his territory,” Meng Tianyu said.

”I see.”

Ning Jiang nodded. He hadn’t expected the situation in the Meteor Sea Region to revolve around the feud of two Kings.

And while the Sea-Splitting King was a notch stronger than the Meteor King, he clearly wasn’t overwhelmingly so. Otherwise, he would have simply invaded and killed the Meteor King long ago.

”Young Master, could the ones who attacked you this time be a faction supported by the Sea-Splitting King?” Qingyi asked.

”I suspected them too, but it’s unlikely. The Sea-Splitting King couldn’t care less if I live or die. Why would a titan like him bother with an Innate Realm ant like me? Besides, my bloodline curse gives me less than three years to live. Why would he bother sending assassins?”

Meng Tianyu shook his head. The world might see him as an ignorant, hedonistic scion, but he was the descendant of a King, and his mind was far more perceptive than that of an ordinary person.

”The most critical question is, how did anyone find out my location?”

A cold light glinted in Meng Tianyu’s eyes.

Qingyi started and quickly said, ”We would never dare betray you, Young Master.”

”Hmph. You all bear a brand left by my father. If you dared to betray me, he would have sensed it long ago. I know it wasn’t you.”

For now, Meng Tianyu had no other clues.

”Sir, why don’t you return to Meteor Island with us?”

Meng Tianyu extended the invitation again. Qingyi, standing beside him, was secretly shocked. ’Who in the world is this Ning Jiang,’ he wondered, ’to command such respect from Meng Tianyu?’

”There’s no need. I prefer peace and quiet.” Ning Jiang shook his head. ”Let’s meet when the Meteor Festival begins.” As he spoke, he took a few steps and departed into the distance.

”I still don’t know your name, Sir!”

”Ning Jiang.”

After he left, Meng Tianyu said, ”Old Bai, Mr. Ning saved my life. This is a tremendous debt. How do you think I should repay him?”

”Well...” Qingyi pondered for a moment before saying, ”How about we find some beautiful women to gift to Mr. Ning?”

”Beauties? Mr. Ning doesn’t seem like the lecherous type...” Meng Tianyu thought for a moment, then said, ”Forget it. Let’s just find someone first and see. Maybe he’ll like her. Do you have anyone to recommend?”

”I happen to know of one. On the nearby Cyan Spirit Island lives Chu Qingqing of the Chu Family. She’s a great beauty, and her talent is outstanding. Despite her young age, she has already comprehended Sword Intent.”

”Good. She’s the one. Go and capture her.”

With that final, decisive command, Meng Tianyu once again revealed his true colors as the Demon Lord of Mayhem.
