Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1016: Chapter 989: Which Possibility Do You Think Is Greater?

”What happened?” Qian questioned.

”An empty bus was found at the fire scene... Your sister-in-law, Yu Mingxi, was on that bus, and now the whole bus is burnt down to just the frame. It’s empty, and her whereabouts are unknown,” the person in charge said with difficulty.

”Ah...” Qian felt darkness before her eyes.

She really couldn’t believe it. How could Xiaoxi, whom she had just drunk with, suddenly—!

She quickly called Yu Minglang, hearing chaos on his end, it was clear he already knew about this.

”I have to bring her back,” Yu Minglang said solemnly. They had been together since their mother’s womb; he absolutely couldn’t accept that his twin sister was now in danger.

No matter alive or dead, he must bring her back!

”I’ll go with you. I promise not to participate in the rescue, not to take risks, not to cause trouble. I’ll stay safely on the sidelines. If she’s found and suffers psychological trauma, I’ll handle it.”

Qian knew how important Xiaoxi was to Minglang; the bond of twins is not something ordinary people can understand. The person important to him is also important to her.

”I won’t go into the fire scene, I swear, I’ll only provide support! You need me!”

Indeed, he needed her.

Yu Minglang finally decided and nodded, ”I’ll take you there, but you absolutely cannot enter the fire scene!”

Taking her was the greatest acknowledgment and trust he could give her; in such a critical situation, Yu Minglang chose to trust his wife.

Seeing Qian able to go as an unofficial member, Apiao and others were extremely envious, continuing to pester their superior.

”Let us go too! If you don’t trust us, we’ll stay out of the fire scene. We’ll act as backup just like Madam, okay?” Apiao took the opportunity to request.

The person in charge looked at them, pursing his lips.

”You’re not allowed in the fire scene, only permitted around the periphery!”

Yu Minglang met up with Qian at the airport, and they took a helicopter over, piloted by his second brother.

Not only that, after receiving the news, his eldest brother also deployed all his people to rush over; none of them believed the Yu Family’s little princess could perish like this.

Apiao and the others followed Qian’s lead, and Qian’s insistence and risk-taking changed Apiao’s impression of her quite a bit.

Qian was always a privileged figure in his mind, but which privileged person would willingly come in such danger?

As soon as they got off the plane, everyone started getting busy. There was already a forest brigade responsible for extinguishing the fire, and Yu Minglang brought his people and other teams to join the rescue. Because it was a sudden emergency assembly, most people hadn’t even had lunch, participating in disaster relief with growling stomachs.

Nearby units had all sent people over; such incidents, when seen on the news before, were just over a hundred words, praised in comments, and then finished.

But when Qian personally came to the scene, she realized the difficulty faced by the soldiers. Due to firefighting, their clothes were wet, and everyone had come before meals and hadn’t eaten, enduring hunger to participate in the rescue. Qian and her group had fortunately eaten lunch earlier, while others could only bear the hunger.

Qian arrived first, but Yu Minglang didn’t have time to arrange for her. He had to command the Yu Family’s people in the rescue while also tasked with finding Xiaoxi. Once he arrived, he was immediately busy; Qian saw the burnt bus frame and felt chilled to the core.

Judging by the time, Yu Mingxi had left Hai Zhao’s home early. She did not have the family send a car; instead, she chose to take a long-distance bus, and the timing she passed this area coincided with the pre-disaster period. No one knows what caused the bus to burn into a black frame.

Now, no one can be found. Nowadays, long-distance buses are not under a real-name system; they all attract passengers themselves, and nobody knows how many were on that bus.

Qian circled the burnt gray bus but couldn’t come to any conclusion, only anxious.

The field kitchen set up a temporary stove to steam buns, and Qian and Apiao temporarily joined the kitchen staff. The forest fire isn’t just about spraying water from hoses; they’ll be staying here for several days, keeping an eye that the fire doesn’t reignite. The current task is exceptionally heavy; they couldn’t even eat vegetables, relying on steamed buns to satisfy hunger.

Qian joined the busy scene. She couldn’t cook, but she could help with minor tasks; the temperature was very high, and although distanced from the fire scene, the heat was palpable. Qian’s face turned red and felt her sweat soaking through her back.

”You actually didn’t have to come.” Apiao handed Qian a bottle of water.

”Would you abandon your comrades?” Qian took the water and had a sip. ”For us, family members are irreplaceable comrades.”

No matter where they are, they must find her and bring her back.

Just as they were talking, the elder brother arrived with his people, bringing not only manpower but a large number of search-and-rescue dogs, all hired at great expense by the elder brother.

Qian saw Hai Zhao beside the elder brother, everyone furrowing their brows, expressions full of worry.

Yu Minglang arrived as well, his clothes completely drenched; Qian exchanged a look with him. The couple couldn’t afford to speak privately; Yu Minglang immediately started discussing a meeting with his elder brother.

”Has there been any news from the telecommunications bureau?” Yu Minglang asked.

”Xiaoxi made a call to her agent before she left. I contacted her agent, who said she was planning to hold a concert this time on her trip back.”

Yu Mingxi was a dreamer, always running along her path of dreams without stopping.

Upon receiving the news, the elder brother immediately started operations, and cooperated closely with his two younger brothers.

Mr. Yu piloted another helicopter, executing search missions in the sky, meant to aid Yu Minglang in searching for the missing bus members. Although the fire was now under control, the helicopter couldn’t get too close, so they began searching the surrounding areas.

No trace can be overlooked; Yu Mingxi must be found.

However, there is no feedback yet.

”Did you check the bus driver’s call records?” Yu Minglang asked.

”Checked. His last call was to 110, but it didn’t connect,” the elder brother’s face grew increasingly grave.

The driver’s last call was to 110, which is no good news for everyone.

The bus got here and something must have happened; the driver wanted to report, but afterward, for unknown reasons, everyone on the bus disappeared.

The whereabouts of everyone on this bus seem even more dire; no one dares to speculate on anything serious.

”There are two possibilities now: first, the driver arrived to find a fire and then reported it. Second, something sudden happened on the bus, and the driver reported it,” Yu Minglang analyzed calmly, showcasing his psychological resilience at this moment.

If not for his dry, chapped lips, Qian might have believed him truly calm; for Yu Minglang to be this anxious, shows the severity of the situation.

”Which possibility do you think is more likely?” The elder brother asked Yu Minglang.
