Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1007: Chapter 980: Got Tricked by Qian Again

”Forget it, I don’t want to. I’m quite content with how things are now,” Yu Mingxi still refused.

Qian didn’t push further. With Mr. Yu’s stubborn personality, she needed to give her some time to figure things out on her own.

”It’s fine if you don’t want treatment or to open up, but don’t you want to know if your feelings for Sun Xia are real or fake? I just gave Hai Zhao a similar test a few days ago, and you probably know who the person in his heart is, right? So then...”

Yu Mingxi pretended to be uninterested, lowering her head to peel pistachios, her ears perked up, waiting for Qian to continue.

But there was nothing more. Qian started swirling her wine glass as if there was something worthy of study in it.

”This wine is pretty good, isn’t it? Zheng Xu specially kept it for me; others who come here can’t even get a drink of it.”

”Stop beating around the bush, what happened next?” Yu Mingxi waited a long time to hear what she wanted, getting a bit anxious.

”And then? Zheng Xu said that the next time there’s good wine, he’d keep some for me again. Do you want to drink, too? I can let him know to keep some for you next time.”

”Stop playing dumb, tell me the result! If you don’t, I’ll tell the youngest that you danced striptease at Zheng Xu’s bar.”

”Pfft! The way you’re shameless just like your brother, you really are twins who spent ten months in the same belly!”

Qian laughed at her joke. ”Alright, considering how much you resemble my shameless husband, I’ll tell you. But if you want to know the result of his test, you’ll have to do a test with me first. If you don’t, I won’t tell you.”

Digging a hole and burying Mr. Yu, count one, two, three, four, five, do the test, then come the answers—Qian didn’t think she was forcing anyone; it was all voluntary!

”I don’t want to do your silly tests.”

”Oh, fine, then you’ll never know if Hai Zhao’s feelings are real. If they’re fake, he’ll certainly go on countless blind dates this week, get married by the end of the year, and have a kid by next year. Of course, you’re the carefree Mr. Yu, you surely wouldn’t care about that. But what if he’s serious, and after being hurt by someone, he might do something drastic as revenge on society—just like that one sitting in jail who also took revenge on society?”

Each word felt like a stab to Yu Mingxi’s heart, making her deeply regret getting involved with Qian, who had such a sharp tongue.

”I was just saying it casually, don’t take it to heart. It’s getting late, I should find someone to drive me back to Lishi. I have to work tomorrow.”

Qian made as if to stand up, picking up her small bag, but as she passed Yu Mingxi, she felt her bag strap being tugged.

Yu Mingxi gritted her teeth and squeezed out a few words.

”I’ll do it!”

”Let’s go, I’ll take you to Zheng Xu’s office. At this time, his office should be empty.” Qian, having achieved her goal, showed a sly smile.

”How did I end up involved with you?” Yu Mingxi muttered under her breath, admitting her defeat to Qian.

”If you’re upset, go beat up your brother—although you probably can’t beat him.”

At the very back of the bar was Zheng Xu’s office. It was more of a luxurious private room, not open to the public. Zheng Xu would occasionally bring people to hang out here, with a whole glass wall that allowed viewing outside but not the other way around.

”Look at this rascal Zheng Xu, who knows how many young girls and wives he’s messed with here.” Qian had a go at Zheng Xu’s chaotic personal life while being led inside by a subordinate.

”You know it’s chaotic, yet you still hang out with him closely, aren’t you afraid the youngest will get jealous?” Yu Mingxi glanced around the flashy room, curling her lip. Men!

”I’m not someone who can’t tell the difference between love and friendship; what’s there to be jealous about?”

biu~

A stab to the heart once more.

”What are you planning, hurry up.”

Yu Mingxi reluctantly readied herself, preparing to answer haphazardly to whatever Qian had in store. A psychological test using scales and conversations? She’d just answer randomly, no matter how magical Chen Xiaoqian’s medical skills were, they wouldn’t deduce anything concrete from her answers, right?

Qian wasn’t in a hurry to respond; she walked to the small fridge, opened it, and took out another bottle of wine.

”Look at this corrupt guy Zheng Xu, he even has a hidden bottle of Lafite here, let’s open it.”

”Did you bring me in here just for a drink?”

What’s this girl up to this time?

Yu Mingxi realized she was entirely under Qian’s control.

”You’re not in the right condition for the test; come, keep drinking!”

At this stage, there was no way out. Trapped by Qian, Yu Mingxi was stuck, forced to drink with her.

After finishing two bottles of red wine, Qian observed that Yu Mingxi’s face was only slightly flushed, her eyes still clear. Qian squinted—seems like it was time to unleash the big move.

She told Yu Mingxi she was going to the restroom, then went out to find the bartender.

”Two glasses of Scottish vodka, please.”

”...Sis, is this suitable for you guys? That’s 88.8% alcohol! Not many men can handle it!”

”Don’t worry, this drink has milk thistle and other liver-protecting herbs in it. At most, it’ll make her dizzy for half a day, not harm her.”

Qian was confident in the alcohol tolerance of the Yu Family, although she still didn’t know how much Xiaoqiang could drink by now, she reckoned this was enough to floor Yu Mingxi.

”Sis, if anything goes wrong with you here, Xu will kill me.”

This was a super VIP the boss had specifically instructed about.

”I’m aware.”

Yu Mingxi, in a slightly tipsy daze, watched the revelry outside the glass. She couldn’t understand the point of relations between men and women, what drove these people to engage in such boring games of emotions daily?

”Why have you ordered more alcohol? If you’re not testing, I’m leaving.” Seeing Qian return with two drinks, Yu Mingxi protested.

”Don’t worry, just try this drink; have you ever tasted it?” Qian handed her a glass, Yu Mingxi took a sip—ugh, it tasted terrible.

”I haven’t.”

Hmm, not having tried it makes things easier.

”Drink this and I’ll tell you the answer straight away.”

Yu Mingxi, suspecting nothing, downed the drink, and Qian didn’t take advantage, following suit.

Right after drinking, Yu Mingxi felt something was wrong, but it was too late to realize, she had finished it.

”Chen Xiaoqian, what was that booze you gave me, how strong is it?” Why did the lights on the ceiling start spinning?

”Hold on, I’m going to make a call.” Qian, more sober than Yu Mingxi, took out her phone and called Yu Minglang.

”Honey, I’m at Zheng Xu’s bar in Q City drinking with Xiaoxi, can you send someone to pick me up, and prepare some hangover tea? I don’t want to mess up tomorrow’s work. How much did I drink? Not much, just two bottles of red wine and two glasses of Scottish vodka. You know this vodka is only about 80-something degrees, just slightly more than the 72-degree Hengshui Laobaigan, and it’s ranked last among the world’s top ten spirits...”
