The hivemind is conquering for me?

”Corporeal? What do you-oh?” I stopped my question mid way as I looked down at my body. Unlike Duvile, who had partial identifying properties such as some facial detail and her chest cannons, my entire body was still fully itself. Junk and all.

Considering I had no idea, I just told the truth. ”I have no idea why I am fully corporeal. Sorry.”

”Hmmm~” Miss Duvile then rubbed her chin curiously and I suddenly had flashbacks to the blue lamps. In her current state she looked similar, but I was forced out of my daydream as she addressed me.

”No problem. This is just cause for further research. Stay behind after class. Now, I need to get the others out of their mindspace.” She said and immediately popped a mindspace, prompting me to worry for Janine.

”Wait! While I am here, wouldn’t it be easier, and less painful for me to pull everyone out with my telepathy?” Duvile turned towards me again and gave me another up down. ”You can do that? Without harming the others more importantly?”

I nodded my head. ”Yes, without issue, the others just need to give consent and I will pull them out.” Duvile thought for a moment before nodding her head. ”Very well, but I will supervise. I haven’t seen Telepathy up close this much, it might prove beneficial to my own work.”

I shrugged my shoulders, that was fine by me. Even if it wasn’t, she was the teacher, she had final say.

I then began making my way around to respective Mindspace’s, telling people what I was here to do. Some were less than pleased at having a Telepath enter their Mindspace, for those, Miss Duvile simply shattered the Mindspace and threw them into the Psionic plane, their avatars all turning into amalgamations of humanoid energy, making my current form stand out even more...

When I got round to Janine, I sighed in relief when she also appeared the same as everyone else. It would make going forward much easier. I kept my distance from her as well to make it less obvious who she was, which she seemed to understand as she joined the rest of the group floating around Duvile.

Duvile nodded her head and looked around. ”Good, I am glad you all managed to figure out that to move out here is not with this form, but your mind and will. To put any worries you might have to ease. First, I have set up my power already, but it is very taxing, hiding so many of you, so we won’t have long in here today, just enough to give you a glimpse of what you will be learning.

Second, those who had their Mindspace’s shattered. They should recover within the hour. My goal was only to shatter them and not damage them so you will be fine.

Third, I can feel all your excitement and other emotions. You all need to cut that out now. This place is volatile. Your emotions can lead to dire circumstances or worse, draw something towards us that my barrier can’t hide you from. You need to remain neutral, so everyone, I recommend you to stop gawking at the naked man. You might not have eyes right now, but it is beyond obvious.”

Some visages visibly flinched before looking away, clearly having been caught lacking subtlety. Duvile shook her head seeing this before getting into the last part of the lesson.

”Right then, in a moment, a technique should appear before you. Your goal is to read this note for the rest of the lesson. I don’t expect any of you to practice this today, your Minds are too unstable, your emotions too fluctuating. Simply read what appears before you and become comfortable in this state of existence.

As she finished saying this, a tablet of Psionic energy emerged before my eyes. My interest instantly spiked. ”Oh, this is interesting.” Unlike the basic meditation pattern that was given out during basics this morning, this technique was actually useful... Sort of.

While I had no problem with people meditating to get into their Mindspace, it was an important part of Psionics, this was... I spoke the word with disgust.

”Cultivation...”

I told the hive the first week they picked me up that my idea of gaining power did not revolve around sitting in a cave on my own for decades at a time doing nothing but sit there while I ’accumulate’ power.

Even if I didn’t have the Origin I possessed and was lucky in that regard, I still would not have used... ugh. ’Cultivation’ as a technique to get stronger. I would prefer to be weaker than I was then be bored passing away decades for a minute increase in power.

However, with all that being said, I still looked over the technique and nodded. It said on the front that practising this technique should only be done an hour each session or you could risk madness from the sheer influx of Psionic energies coursing through and around your body during the technique.

’ I can do an hour, that’s basically just training. But that being said, this technique is quite difficult from a cursory glance and I consider myself adept in Psionics, how are the others going to fair?’

Looking over to the rest of the group, I noticed most had already begun floating around Duvile from all sides clearly asking questions about every little thing. I smiled seeing it. The people here at the college, they might be new, they might be human, but their ethic towards improving themselves was admirable.

I floated away from everyone else back to my own Mindspace and sat atop the dome. I looked around. The cacophony of colours, the warping and bending of them in the distance, the seemingly distant and yet close proximity of all the other Mindspace’s around.

This was a part of psionics I have rarely seen. I still remember looking outside the membrane of the void swimmer and seeing the same lights pass by. It will always be beautiful to me. Still, I knew of the risks and could only enjoy them because Miss Duvile was doing whatever she was doing to keep up hidden.

”What do you think of this place, Janine?” I asked, curiously before looking directly above my head where a figure was slowly looming down towards me.

”For fuck sake! Even in a fleshless body and with nothing around to make noise you can still hear me coming?” She asked. I smiled as she floated down to my eye level, her torso still upside down from my perspective.

”No, You were silent as anything, I could feel you though. Your energy, like a wave in a calm lake. It’s obvious.”

”Drats!” Janine cursed, hoping to finally get the drop on Apollo. She then asked the lingering question most wanted answered. ”So, why are you naked? Why aren’t you like the rest of us? Or do you just like having your meat mace out at all times? As that would explain a lot.”

I used the current luxury I had over the others and rolled my eyes. ”No, I am not a nudist. I am just comfortable in my own body-” ”-Yeah, with a dick like that, I bet you are-” I ignored Janine’s comment and carried on.

”- But! no, I don’t actually know the reason why I am like this now. I hypothesise it has something to do with my Origin being what it is.”

Janine then looked at me in silence and despite her lack of facial features, I was under the assumption she was frowning. ”Have you ever told me what your Origin is? If you have, I have definitely forgotten, with the amount of Psionics you have. Is it your Gyrokinesis?”

I looked around and shook my head. ”Not here, I trust you enough that you deserve to know, but I can’t say here. We will talk about it later. Now go and study the technique you were just given, it is very difficult. I will also help you out with it later, don’t worry.”

”Fine~ But I am going to struggle, floating around like this is way too fun!” I smiled as I watched Janine for a short while float around. She eventually had the novelty wear off and copied what I was doing and sat upon her own Mindspace to go over her technique.

While we did so, I did take a moment to enjoy the way the school went in teaching their classes from what I have seen so far. They act more like a guiding hand and then have us do the actual teaching, this feels much better than just cramming a bunch of nonsense into our heads and making us remember it.

It also makes your own desire to learn the most important part. As those with the desire to learn will most likely do better than others. And for those that are still confused after learning for themselves, the teachers were there to guide you onto the right path instead of forcing you to listen to a laid out path. It was simply more laid back, and I preferred it this way.
