Chapter 1104: Chapter 1102: Taking the Initiative to Deploy Troops

”Such plentiful resources!”

Looking at the freshly acquired map, Dominic’s eyes lit up instantly.

It was completely different from the situation over in Yalidu City.

The Undead’s demand for resources actually isn’t that high.

Wood, stone, metal, and at most a bit of mercury are basically enough to satisfy most Undead needs.

Other rare and special materials are just icing on the cake.

The Underground City’s situation is pretty much the exact opposite.

Almost every unit type has different requirements.

Giant Dragons need sulfur and gold, Minotaurs want gems, Scorpion Lions need mercury, and the Hydra side either demands a huge amount of crystal or a huge amount of sulfur, and so on.

You could say that for the more High Tier units, without the corresponding rare materials you simply can’t recruit them.

Relying on the little bit of output from the Supply Warehouse alone probably can’t keep up with the consumption in the city at all.

So the field Resources have become key points the Demon City needs to fight over.

Earlier Dominic had still been wondering where he was going to get so many Resources from.

Now that he looked, wasn’t it just delivered right to his door?

”First clear out all the wild monsters, then go occupy these resource points.

Once the wild monster siege is over, we need to make good use of the Barracks.

Send out more expedition missions to ensure the safety of these resource points and the roads.”

The battle hadn’t even ended yet, and Dominic was already thinking about post-war reconstruction and development.

Of course, while Dominic was muttering to himself, he was also rapidly assigning all sorts of tasks.

He hadn’t forgotten why he’d sent those Harpies out to scout.

They weren’t sent to locate resource points.

They were dispatched to find in advance the wild monsters preparing to come lay siege.

Right now on the map, Dominic had already discovered three wild monster gathering grounds.

And in the reports brought back by the Harpies, there was also information on the numbers and Levels of these monsters’ forces.

Seeing the monster counts, Dominic nodded in satisfaction.

These wild monsters may look numerous, but the truly useful fighting power among them isn’t much.

Most are cannon fodder between Level 1 and Level 5, only a small portion are above Level 5. Across all three gathering grounds, the total number of troops above Level 5 should be around three thousand.

Based on current intel, mixed into these Deceitful Shadows are two Heroes, along with some Bosses and Warrior Level units.

Beyond that, there probably isn’t more.

For the Demon City, this kind of force is just about perfectly manageable.

If they don’t preemptively wipe out a batch of enemies, and if there weren’t an Undead Corps garrisoned in the city, then the next battle could very likely drag into a prolonged siege.

That’s definitely not the kind of scene Dominic wants to see.

So better to take out one enemy gathering ground first.

Dominic summoned the Dragon Group and started assigning them battle missions.

The gathering grounds with Heroes are definitely off limits.

These Giant Dragons are the Demon City’s precious assets from here on out; fighting ordinary Deceitful Shadows is fine, but if they run into a Hero, what if the other side has some nasty ability?

First annihilate the gathering ground without Hero commanders.

Hearing Dominic’s order and taking another look at the map, the Black Dragons took off at once.

Trailing behind the Black Dragons were those weak trashy Red Dragons Gu Xi had bought at the very beginning; after that came the city’s own trained Black Dragons, Red Dragons, and Green Dragons.

The miscellaneous Dragons flew in the very rear.

Among these misc Dragons there were actually quite a few types: Bronze Dragons, Rusted Dragons, and Blue Holy Dragons could all be spotted in the group.

When they took to the air, they didn’t try to抢 the lead position from the Black Dragons.

These misc Dragons all understood their role; their individual Combat Power was absolutely fine.

But their numbers were still a bit on the low side.

So they had no intention of争夺 command of the Giant Dragon Corps. As far as they were concerned, as long as there’s meat to eat and gold rewards, following behind is no problem.

When all the Giant Dragons had flown out, Gu Xi, who’d slept for a while, just happened to wake up.

To ensure the quality of his sleep—and make sure one nap would fully restore his Mana—

Gu Xi had found a quiet room in the city’s Tavern to sleep in.

The barkeep in the Tavern was a Thief with his face covered by a black veil.

When Gu Xi first came into the Tavern, he was a bit speechless at the situation inside.

He hadn’t expected the Demon City’s Tavern to actually be set up like this.

Back in Yaliduonia’s Tavern, at least they’d arranged for a White Bone Wine Lady or a Blood Courtesan to put on a show of appearances.

Here they didn’t even bother with that.

They just straight up put Thieves in here.

But this actually made Gu Xi feel even more confident about the security.

Under these Thieves’ eyelids, how could there possibly be any chance for assassination?

Before Shaya became Gu Xi’s Contracted Undead, she also had the duty and capability to protect the guests in her Tavern.

So Gu Xi was quite at ease; he just found a spot and went to sleep.

Although the Underground City has a rather mixed roster of units and doesn’t really have any strong magic-oriented unit types,

they are very serious about enhancing their Magic Tower.

The Magic Vortex that Yalidu City had back then is also present here in the Demon City.

Only, in Yalidu City it’s a Sacred Artifact, while here in the Demon City it’s a building; the effect is a bit weaker, but the double Mana recovery boost is guaranteed.

As soon as Gu Xi closed his eyes, he could feel a huge amount of Mana pouring into his body.

Even after his Mana rapidly rose, fully replenishing all that he’d consumed before, that sensation of Mana pouring in didn’t stop.

On the contrary, it made Gu Xi feel woozy, as if he were soaking in seawater.

Wrapped in that feeling, Gu Xi dimly drifted off to sleep.

In his sleep, Gu Xi seemed to see something.

He seemed to be positioned above the Demon City, seeing through something into a Maze hidden beneath the city.

In the Maze, there were Giant Dragons starved down to skin and bones, and Scorpion Lions gnawed down to bare skeletons.

Gu Xi suspected he was looking at the Demon City’s Mysterious Maze.

But just as Gu Xi was trying to get a clear look at everything here, a pair of eyes suddenly lit up.

Those eyes held a kind of unwillingness and resentment.

The thick, dense resentment was about to conjure forth an Evil Sword Immortal.

This situation shocked Gu Xi’s Heart—so the appearance of the Mysterious Maze actually has a cause behind it.

What’s this one’s story?

Human or something else, alive or dead?

Gu Xi was completely in the dark.

But Gu Xi also relied on the fact that he was currently in a dream and didn’t bother overthinking it. When the other side stared at him, Gu Xi directly glared right back.

At that moment, the Spirit Lamp Carrier just happened to appear beside Gu Xi and yanked him back.

Gu Xi jerked in shock and woke up from the dream.
