Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

After Yang Xinxin’s experiment, everyone was surprised to find that after the soldier closed his eyes, the Shadow Figures did indeed rush to his front quickly.

However, they did not, as before, attack the soldier and assimilate him.

Yang Xinxin’s eyes lit up instantly.

A faint, confident smile curved the corner of her mouth.

”Just as I thought, it worked!”

At this moment Zhang Yi roughly understood the principle behind it.

”When rules conflict, they still follow the Asylum’s rules, so they will attack anyone who looks at them and actively follow.”

”But constrained by Cupid’s Arrow’s ’will absolutely not harm’ principle, they only approach and will not launch an attack.”

”That’s why they remain like this, stalled and unable to move forward.”

Seeing progress had been made, everyone felt a surge of happiness.

”But our goal isn’t just to stop them attacking us, it’s to eliminate them and then leave the Asylum!” Zhou Ke’er spoke up.

Hearing that, Zhang Yi turned his gaze to Yang Xinxin.

”That makes sense. What should we do next?”

Yang Xinxin lowered her eyelids, propped her chin with her hand, and continued thinking.

”First, the problem of Shadow Figures attacking people is solved. If we bind them one-on-one, they won’t harm people.”

”But if we want to destroy them...”

While Yang Xinxin mulled this over, anxious voices rose from the soldiers behind her.

”Bad news, more of those things have appeared!”

Zhang Yi turned to look. Before he did, things were tolerable, but the sight made his scalp tingle.

At some point, Shadow Figures had begun appearing in all directions around them.

Ahead and behind, groups of tall, thin, zombie-like Shadow Figures had already blocked the path.

They even started clinging to the walls, pressed against them and motionless when watched, hanging there like geckos.

Zhang Yi complained irritably, ”Didn’t Lancelot say there weren’t many of these things? How did so many suddenly show up!”

Yang Xinxin raised her eyes and said calmly, ”There’s only one explanation: their side was attacked, and many were assimilated.”

She looked toward the surrounding Shadow Figures. ”I think most of these here are actually their people.”

”What a bunch of incompetent, trouble-making fools!”

Zhang Yi rubbed his head and cursed under his breath.

They had finally made progress, and instead it seemed Lancelot and company had set them back.

Without hesitation, Yang Xinxin relayed her findings to Lancelot.

Of course, she didn’t reveal her ability, only telling Lancelot that they could try using a rule to break another rule.

Whether Lancelot had any rare rule-based superhumans by his side was none of her concern.

Although many Shadow Figures had appeared here, luckily the space was cramped and their own people were numerous, so one-on-one surveillance could handle it.

”Xinxin, at most how many Desire Arrows can you fire right now?” Zhang Yi asked.

Yang Xinxin answered, ”Ten.”

Ten arrows were not enough to deal with all the Shadow Figures here, which at first glance numbered at least a dozen.

Moreover, more could keep appearing.

Irritation flickered in Zhang Yi’s chest, but he forced it down.

When trouble increases, one must stay calm, otherwise things only get worse.

”Should I test its ability myself?” the thought even arose in Zhang Yi’s mind for a moment.

But he abandoned the idea in an instant.

He wouldn’t gamble.

Rule-based abilities were the trickiest—once you stepped into a rule’s domain, even the strongest superhumans would be limited.

Even if he was strong enough not to die, being seriously injured here would be extremely dangerous.

For now, he could only pin all his hopes on Yang Xinxin.

She did not let Zhang Yi down.

After thinking for less than a minute, her eyes again flashed with cleverness.

”I’ve got it!”

She immediately ordered the soldiers, ”Gather all the Shadow Figures to one place!”

The Shadow Figures controlled by Cupid’s Arrow would stubbornly follow those soldiers, so wherever the soldiers went, they would follow.

Using this method together with Yang Xinxin’s ability, they quickly herded the twelve Shadow Figures present into one huge abandoned conference room.

Zhang Yi and the others did not ask many questions; they simply watched quietly to see what Yang Xinxin would do.

Yang Xinxin called for Lu Keran. ”Ke Ran, do you have a camera? Or spare phones will do.”

Zhang Yi stepped forward. ”I have a video recorder. What model do you need?”

His Dimensional Space contained little besides odds and ends.

When he had plundered Tianhai City wildly, he hadn’t spared supplies—he still kept a batch of expensive imported equipment.

”Any model will do.”

Zhang Yi produced one and handed it to Yang Xinxin, who called Lu Keran over to help.

She dragged a chair over, placed the camera on it, turned it on, and pointed it at the Shadow Figures.

Seeing the curious faces beside her, Yang Xinxin proactively explained.

”The game’s rule is ’observation.’ As long as the Shadow Figures are being watched, they won’t act.”

”But people get tired and blink; that moment is when the Shadows strike.”

”However, if I record them with a camera and feed the footage directly into someone’s brain via electrodes, then there will be no blinking. We can control their behavior continuously.”

When Yang Xinxin finished, Zhang Yi and the others applauded the cleverness of the idea.

”Brilliant! There’s a way like that!”

”Feeding the footage into the brain is genius. Haha, I was about to use sticks to prop my eyelids open and stare at them!”

With Lu Keran’s help, they successfully attached electrodes to one soldier, enabling real-time reception of the camera feed.

From then on, the Shadows would always be watched by that soldier.

After finishing, Lu Keran had everyone exit the room, and the soldier went out with them.

This time, the Shadow Figures remained inside the office and did not follow.

”It worked!”

Zhang Yi inhaled deeply and smiled.

Yang Xinxin smiled too. ”As expected, my idea has been confirmed.”

”Now that the problem of being chased by Shadow Figures is solved, we can calmly consider how to destroy them and leave the game.”

She immediately shared this method with Lancelot, who was still troubled by the Shadows.

Old You frowned and asked softly, ”Xinxin, why tell them? We could just let them die here. They’re competitors once we get out anyway.”

The others looked at her expectantly.

Yang Xinxin slightly lifted the corner of her mouth.

”Because I have almost figured out the rules here.”

”The Saitou rule may indeed be under some constraint and be real. Otherwise, Gao Changkong’s subordinate would really have the strength to kill us. He would have at least a superhuman ability index of over 20,000. That probability is nearly negligible.”

”The reason so many of us were trapped is that his ability can only ’immobilize’; it cannot truly kill us.”

”If that’s the case, it’s better to have the Knights of the Round Table help. Together we can think of a way to break the stalemate.”
