Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Contrary to what everyone expected, the scene of that soldier being attacked by the shadow figure did not appear.

Zhang Yi froze, saying in surprise, ”Didn’t you say that once that thing leaves your line of sight, it attacks people?”

Yang Xinxin calmly glanced at Zhang Yi.

”That can only mean one thing. Being watched doesn’t refer to a specific person. Rather, it’s about [being watched] itself. Right now, it’s exposed in our line of sight, so it stops acting.”

The dozens of people behind them all breathed a sigh of relief at that moment.

Chodak said, ”With so many of us here, we won’t get attacked by it, right?”

”But our goal isn’t to avoid being attacked. It’s to eliminate them and get out of here!”

Yang Xinxin said coldly to him.

Chodak’s words caught in his throat, and he scratched his head sheepishly.

”Then... what do we do?”

Yang Xinxin waved her hand at the group without hesitation. ”Let’s go.”

”Go?”

Chodak was a bit confused. ”Doesn’t that mean leaving him here alone?”

”Yes.”

Yang Xinxin’s tone remained icy.

Zhang Yi said, ”Listen to her.”

Yang Xinxin had said before that if they wanted to figure out the rules of this place, they had to experiment over and over.

Fortunately, Chodak had brought dozens of people, making them perfect test subjects.

Everyone retreated. To ensure safety, each person kept watching every direction around them, making sure nothing similar appeared again.

Soon, they vanished from that thing’s line of sight.

The soldier left behind was filled with terror. He might not fear death, but ”fear” itself was even more terrifying than dying.

At first, he was drenched in cold sweat, not daring to make a single move.

But after staring at the shadow figure for a long time, he realized it truly remained motionless like a statue.

Summoning his courage, he reached out and pushed it.

That thing was as rigid as if nailed to the spot, completely immovable.

Time ticked by second by second. The worst part was that Yang Xinxin had Chodak keep in contact with him, asking about everything happening on-site.

”It... it doesn’t move at all. What am I supposed to do?”

The soldier swallowed his saliva, feeling overwhelmed by helplessness and dread. He even wanted to run away immediately.

Chodak glanced at Yang Xinxin, about to say that the soldier couldn’t leave.

But Yang Xinxin spoke calmly, ”Let him do whatever he wants next.”

If they wanted to understand the way the shadow figures attacked and their rules, they had to analyze it based on real circumstances.

Chodak relayed Yang Xinxin’s words.

Now, the soldier was even more confused.

He had been left here alone, surrounded by the eerie, terrifying Asylum, with all his companions gone.

Right in front of him stood a massive black monster, looking down at him from above.

Gradually, he couldn’t take it anymore.

He didn’t dare close his eyes, but they were already burning and sore. Plus, the sweat streaming down his forehead made it almost impossible to control his body.

When he reached his limit, he let out a loud roar, turned around, and ran off into the distance.

The next moment, his voice vanished.

Yang Xinxin didn’t hesitate. She immediately sprinted back toward the direction they had come from.

Zhang Yi stayed by her side, carefully protecting her.

But when they arrived at the corridor they had just been in, the sight before them made Zhang Yi’s pupils sharply contract.

The soldier had disappeared.

Yet in the dim corridor, under the flickering, gloomy light, two towering shadow figures stood, coldly staring at them.

”This is...”

Seeing this, Zhang Yi’s mind instantly processed it.

”After attacking someone, it can assimilate its victim into one of its own kind?”

Yang Xinxin frowned. ”That means if we want to hold them off now, we’ll need two people. And if those two have problems, four monsters will appear.”

This realization sent a chill through everyone’s hearts.

How could they deal with monsters that couldn’t be killed and could replicate themselves?

Everything was hidden within the rules of this game.

By now, Fatty Xu was already trembling.

”Why don’t we all gather together and stare at them? That way, no one has to worry about blinking.”

Old You had already smacked him on the head.

”Are you stupid? We’ve all said we need to hurry up and get out of here. You want to stay here staring at them for twenty-four hours?”

”Besides, who knows if there are other monsters in this Asylum?”

As if to confirm Old You’s words.

Suddenly, a cry of alarm came from behind.

Several soldiers aimed their weapons at the dark corner at the end of the corridor.

In the shadows, two more shadow figures had appeared without anyone noticing.

”The rules said these things actively seek out living creatures and attack them. We’ve been here too long. It’s enough time for them to find us.”

Zhang Yi said.

”But we can’t kill them, and if we run, we might lose sight and get assimilated. What the hell are we supposed to do?”

Fatty Xu’s chubby face was pale as death. He carefully tried to squeeze toward the center of the crowd, seeking safety.

Just then, Zhou Ke’er, who had been deep in thought with her head down, suddenly spoke up:

”Maybe there’s a method we can try.”

Everyone perked up their ears to listen.

Zhou Ke’er said, ”We can try using their own weapon against them. Since eyesight draws their attention and they attack whoever sees them, why don’t we position them facing each other so they’re forced to stare at one another?”

Zhang Yi’s eyes lit up. ”That idea is definitely worth trying.”

Similar plots appeared in many stories.

For instance, when dealing with a witch whose gaze could turn people to stone, you used a mirror to make her petrify herself.

But just then, Yang Xinxin spoke up, ”The method is good, but there’s a prerequisite.”

”Huh? What prerequisite?”

Zhou Ke’er blinked. She had finally thought of this solution.

Yang Xinxin pointed at the two shadow figures ahead and said calmly, ”If you can think of this situation, others can too. So take a look-do those things even have eyes?”

Zhou Ke’er looked at the shadow figure.

It was nothing but a mass of pitch black. On top of its neck was a black sphere. It didn’t even have a head, let alone eyes.

Yang Xinxin said, ”The person who designed this game is very clever. He wouldn’t leave such an obvious loophole.”

...

On the other side, the Knights of the Round Table.

Lancelot and the others had already sacrificed more than twenty people trying to probe the shadow figures’ rules and abilities.

But the shadow figures couldn’t be dealt with, and the more people died, the more of them there were.

”Continuing like this won’t work. It seems that to deal with the supernatural, we have to rely on supernatural power.”

The speaker was a woman with short silver hair. She wore a silver combat suit, and a slender rapier hung at her waist.

She was none other than the [Shining Knight] of the Knights of the Round Table, Lamorak.
