Chapter 917: Chapter 730: Name?

Huai Zhisu People have been arrested!

In less than five minutes, this news was relayed by the Extreme Path members guarding in front of the hospital room to protect the ”Honored Peace-maker” to the four major bosses and quickly spread throughout the Alliance.

Everyone knows Huai Zhisu People, but people are curious about why they were arrested and want to discuss it with the current four major bosses in the comment section.

However, the current Grand President has no interest in discussing in the comment section and even shoved cement gag balls into the mouths of the most rampant rumor spreaders, sinking them into the bay.

Not only Huai Zhisu People—

Tobio had anticipated this long ago, and in just three minutes, one piece of news after another arrived before them: Huai Zhisu People from the Huaizhi Gang, Arida Pingqing from the Arida Group, Nakajima Bang from the Nakajima Association, and the Hundred-Eyed Ghost from the Chivalrous Hunting Group...

From the core of the Alliance, especially among those who attended the council meeting last night, as many as eleven people have been taken by the Kyoto Police Department.

Officially, it’s for assisting in investigations, as they have varying degrees of suspicion in over thirty different cases.

But in reality, is there any member of the Extreme Path who is clean?

Even the most innocent Huai Zhisu People got entangled in the Arisaka family’s murder case.

If they truly resolved to take action, the MPD has ten thousand ways to target the Tanbo Inner Circle, but the question is... what benefits does this bring?

Every boss has a flock of scapegoat underlings who can be grabbed at random.

Even an outsider like Huai Zhisu People, as long as necessary, need not even speak a word; Ueno would jump out and confess: It has nothing to do with the boss, I killed the people, the boss was kidnapped by me, come after me!

Not to mention the ensuing chaos and terrifying rise in crime rates...

For what?

Speaking of the lower-level errand boys of the Police Department, the higher-ups are all graduates of prestigious universities who’ve passed the grueling bar exam to secure an iron rice bowl, earning a hefty pension as they retire with honor as social elites.

Doesn’t working as a Yingzhou Civil Servant satisfy them? Doing some shady deals and earning untold gray income, isn’t it good?

Why bear this burden?

Especially with the Order of Nothingness about to be issued, who would be foolish enough to trigger this bomb now?

Furthermore, if the Hybrid Alliance is gone, would Green Day be happy?

It definitely isn’t the Police Department acting on its own accord.

”Shogunate or Deer’s Sing Hall, which one do you lean toward?” Tobio asked, smoking a pipe, as he lifted his eyelids to look at Chiba Ryouni on the sofa next to him.

”Both are possible,” Chiba Ryouni replied. ”After all, what happened last night was so big, this was kind of expected. That bastard Hisashiga caused so much trouble, it’s overwhelming.”

On the table, Chiba’s phone vibrated, a message popped up, making him frown: ”The Ochiai Family has started moving, but it’s said they have instructions from Deer’s Sing Hall.”

”That’s normal. We should expect visitors soon,” Tobio said. ”This time, it’s probably a two-pronged approach.”

”What do you plan to do?” Chiba Ryouni asked. ”Any explanations?”

”Isn’t it still the same excuse? Isn’t Hisashiga already dead? The dead can’t talk, no need to be wasteful. Besides, wasn’t this round of trouble all caused by that bastard?”

Tobio remarked coldly: ”This time, those above probably want to take the opportunity to admonish us old dogs, not to cause trouble before the Order of Nothingness is issued, heh.

We likely won’t have much trouble here, the efforts probably have to be made elsewhere...”

He said, ”Those caught won’t have it easy.”

Even if they aren’t really arrested and taken to court, it’s impossible for them to get off lightly.

As he spoke, hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor. Soon, a subordinate knocked on the door: ”Grand President, two individuals have arrived, requesting a meeting with you. As per your previous orders, they have been brought to the reception room.”

Inside the office, the two exchanged a glance, their eyebrows slowly rising.

”Together?” Tobio rose and asked.

Chiba nodded and followed him towards the reception room.

.

.

Meanwhile, an understated sedan stopped at the Kyoto Police Department entrance, and the long-waiting chief of Special Events Investigation Section quickly approached, only to see the person in the car directly push open the door and get out.

”Mr. Asai, long time no see.” The chief bowed in greeting, noticing the always stern Mr. Asai hurriedly waving his hand without even having time to reply, as he opened the backdoor of the car.

An unfamiliar figure emerged from inside, standing beneath the steps in front of the Police Department, looking up at the looming building.

”Looks quite impressive.”

Asai bowed his head and gestured to the chief with his eyes. The chief was momentarily stunned but immediately nodded respectfully.

”Welcome to both of you for coming to guide our work.”

”No need for extra words.”

The distinguished guest who just got out of the car withdrew their gaze and glanced at them: ”Time is limited, don’t waste it.”

The calm gaze bore a heavy sense of authority that made the chief’s forehead seep with a cold sweat. Instinctively, he replied, ”Yes, please follow me...”

Leading the two into the police department, the section chief finally had the chance to look at Asai, who represented Deer’s Sing Hall in liaising with the police department, after hurriedly entering the elevator.

The normally stern and imposing Asai stood tame behind the visitor, bowed his head, and responded respectfully and humbly to the occasional questioning.

Finally finding a moment, Asai fell a step behind and whispered to the section chief: ”Last night’s incident has quite an impact. Before the Order of Nothingness is issued, there can be no chaos in Kyoto. That prestigious figure is here for inspection; make sure not to let anything go wrong.”

The section chief nodded hastily.

”Have they brought the people?”

Wiping sweat from his forehead, the section chief appeared helpless: ”They’re all in the interrogation room. We’ve questioned them, but they’re tough to crack.”

Passing through tightly closed doors, one could faintly hear defiant shouting from inside.

”If you can, arrest me!”

”Evidence? Do you have any evidence?”

”Last night, I just went out drinking with my brothers, nothing happened!”

”Our company is a legitimate entity, Officer, don’t speak nonsense!”

The section chief’s expression grew grim, unsure of what to explain, while Asai maintained a calm demeanor, as if he had foreseen this.

This bunch of Extreme Path members, who have been in and out of the precinct countless times, all acted with impunity. Some were even silent, insisting on seeing their lawyer.

Those with apparent dirt held by MPD were unusually tight-lipped this time. Even leaders formerly on unofficial terms with the police department remained mute regarding the incidents at the Alliance meeting.

Ultimately, they only spouted platitudes, even after coercive measures were employed...

All either cursed in anger, remained silent, or begged pathetically, ”Please, sir, don’t do this, I have a family.” Behind a half-open door, there was nothing but laughter and merriment.

Utterly discordant.

A loud bang echoed. Someone slammed the table.

”A fortune teller predicted I’d achieve great things only to end up a desolate old man; I beg to differ!”

The calm, low voice continued, ”I believe that in this life of crime, life and death are choices to be made by oneself.”

”Back in the day, when I worked at the parking lot outside the Chef Demon competition with my brothers, I never imagined I’d get this far... Ah, you flatter me, but it’s merely the courage of a commoner. If given the choice, who would willingly become part of Extreme Path?”

Amidst the laughter, the young man cuffed to the table raised his paper cup in a toast to the police conducting his interrogation:

”Anyway, cheers, officers, wishing you smooth sailing in your MPD careers!”

A chorus of agreeable responses rang out, practically convivial.

”Ah, if all the Extreme Path members were as sensible as Mr. Huaizhi, our workload would be much lighter.”

In the interrogation room, the bearded veteran detective put down his pen and clicked his tongue in admiration: ”Want a beer? It’s almost lunchtime. How about trying some pork chop rice? Let me tell you, pork chop rice is a specialty of the police department, not to be missed.”

Saying this, he made a signal to his subordinate to step out and prepare, but the subordinate awkwardly remained where he stood. The detective frowned and motioned again.

Finally turning around, he saw the section chief with a stony face and two strangers behind him.

”I asked you to interrogate him properly, Sakaguchi, is this how you do it?” the section chief questioned coldly, ”Incredible, becoming siblings with societal scum!”

Sakaguchi’s face twitched, he bowed and hadn’t spoken, yet from behind him came a voice: ”Hey, sir, you can’t say things like that. I’m still just a suspect, how did I become societal scum?”

Moreover, our company, Huaizhi Corporation, has consistently paid taxes every year, with no record of wrongdoing, an exemplary business...”

At this point, the young man’s expression grew pained: ”Thanks to Mr. Sakaguchi enlightening me with both emotion and reason, I’ve gained a profound recognition of my errors, willing to fully cooperate with police inquiries. I know people have biases against folks like us, please don’t blame him; if there’s fault, blame me.”

Furious, the section chief was about to chastise when he noticed the other officers around him nodded in agreement, filled with sympathy for the discrimination and injustice Mr. Huaizhi encountered, as if spellbound.

What on earth is this?

The section chief was ready to erupt, showing this rascal who’s boss here, when Asai pressed his shoulder.

”Don’t lose composure; this guy’s not ordinary.”

Asai sneered coldly, ”Though he appears young, he’s shrewd and savvy, vanquished the Tiger King Group within an hour, single-handedly quelled the Hisashiga House rebellion... a favorite in front of the Five Big Bosses... wait, now it’s Four Big Bosses, right?”

Behind the desk, Huai Shi lifted his head, glanced around at those behind him, and suddenly snorted with laughter.

Asai’s expression chilled, ”What’re you laughing at?”

Huai Shi lowered his head, covered his mouth, and waved a hand: ”Sorry, a friend’s wife is about to give birth.”

In silence, Asai’s hand on the knife hilt under his suit, followed by a voice from behind.

”Alright, Asai, you all step out. Let me have a chat with him.”

Asai froze for a moment, then nodded, gestured for everyone to follow him out, and raised his hand to switch off the monitoring equipment inside, shutting the door respectfully.

In the quiet, Huai Shi tilted his head, scrutinizing the person behind the desk, eyebrows raising with curiosity: ”Next, am I to be asked my name?”

”...Tired of playing, Huai Shi?”

Li Jian Amber remained expressionless.
