The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Capítulo 1148: Chapter 1148: A Little Horn (Part 2)

“Princess, as long as the top scholar can survive, you won’t have to marry far away!”

“Heh, since when does the fate of this Princess need to be in the hands of a man I’ve never met.”

“Then does Her Royal Highness Princess want to see him?” the Little Palace Maid urged.

The young girl showed little interest, waving her hand to dismiss the Little Palace Maid, but then she heard the urgent voice of another Little Palace Maid outside: “Something bad has happened, the top scholar is about to be executed by His Majesty the Emperor!”

The young girl frowned.

The Little Palace Maid went to inquire, then hurriedly ran back in and whispered in the Princess’s ear.

It turned out that His Majesty the Emperor intended to match the Eldest Princess with the top scholar, but the top scholar refused it in front of everyone, which disgraced the Emperor, who was furious and asked for the reason, only to find that his heart belonged to another.

This so-called heart belonging didn’t have the three matchmakers and six courtesies, nor was there any betrothal; there was no need to say it publicly, but this man was stubborn and declared in the hall that he would marry no one else but her.

Originally, it is not unusual for a young man to have feelings for a girl, but since it’s not a settled matter, it doesn’t count; how could a village girl compare to a Princess, and if he were sensible, he should have accepted the imperial decree quietly; if he truly loved her, he could have taken her as a concubine later.

This top scholar saying this in the Grand Palace gives one the impression that the Princess is inferior to a village girl, how could the Emperor not be angry?

Upon hearing the Little Palace Maid’s report, the young girl didn’t get angry but instead laughed, “It’s quite interesting.”

“Princess, he is insulting you! How can you still laugh!”

“If he had heard the rumors about my so-called husband-destroying fate, his behavior could only be seen as the actions of a coward, but if he truly loves a woman deeply, then he’s a man of true emotions and loyalty.”

“He must be a coward!” the Little Palace Maid huffed angrily.

The young girl stood up, “Let’s go, this Princess will go see this top scholar who may be a coward, or perhaps a man of loyalty and deep emotions.”

…

Heavenly prison.

Trapped in the dungeon, the top scholar’s face showed no sadness or joy, only calm.

When he saw the young girl appear in the heavenly prison, the top scholar was momentarily stunned by her beauty, but quickly regained composure, “Commoner pays respects to Her Royal Highness Princess.”

He had already been stripped of his title in the hall, so referring to himself as a commoner was appropriate.

“Dispense with the formalities.” The young girl made a mock gesture of support.

“This Princess came here to ask you a few questions.”

“Please ask, Princess.”

“Have you ever heard the rumor of this Princess being a husband-destroyer?”

The top scholar paused, then shook his head.

The Little Palace Maid huffed angrily, “It’s widely spread outside, you must have heard!”

The top scholar shook his head, his face sincere, “With the imperial exams imminent, I ignored outside matters, I really haven’t heard of it.”

The Little Palace Maid fumed, “You must be lying!”

The top scholar was helpless, speaking frankly, “If I had heard, my reason for refusing the marriage in the Grand Palace would not have been my heart belonging to another; instead, I would have said that I’m too weak to bear such fortune.”

His words implied a hidden meaning of fearing being killed by the Princess, which the Emperor could easily understand; in truth, it wouldn’t have angered him so much.

“It appears that you indeed were unaware of this Princess’s supposed husband-destroying fate.”

“The commoner truly did not know.”

“What does the woman you like look like?”

The top scholar frowned, pressing his lips in silence.

The Little Palace Maid sternly said, “The Princess is asking you a question, are you mute?”

The top scholar respectfully replied, “The commoner dares not say.”

“What are you afraid of?”

“Forgive the commoner for being blunt, I’m afraid she will be blamed.”

“Afraid this Princess will blame her?”

“Afraid the royal family will feel humiliated and blame her.”

“This Princess is also of the royal family; if so, your words mean you’re afraid this Princess will blame her.”

“The commoner dares not.”

The young girl waved her hand, “Don’t you think this Princess can’t find out if you refuse to say it? Asking is just because this Princess is too lazy to find out, and too lazy to blame; it’s just to listen as gossip.”

The top scholar took a deep breath, “Then please let the Princess hear this gossip.”

“Speak.” The young girl had someone bring a Taishi Chair, sitting in the heavenly prison to listen to the matters of love and feelings of the other party.

This poor family scholar’s father died early, and he was raised by his widowed mother. Fortunately, the family had a few acres of land rented out, so life was barely manageable, and they could afford his education.
