The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1134: Chapter 1134: A Vast Lake

Nie Qing nodded, ”That’s right.”

Little Taotie’s face scrunched up, ”Maybe he fell into the lake... and drowned?”

Nie Qing shook his head, ”If he drowned, the corpse would float up.”

Little Taotie casually pulled out a Pipe Candy, getting ready to put it in her mouth.

Nie Qing: ”Are you... getting ready to channel Sherlock Holmes?”

Little Taotie grinned, her dimples deep, her brows and eyes curved, though the look of holding a pipe was a bit strange.

Nie Qing couldn’t help but laugh out loud, ”Little Sherlock, did you spot any clues?”

He was full of expectations for Little Taotie, already knowing that she was working under Shen Cang, and it’s not just anyone who can get into the Special Department, even if they’d mastered some Mysticism, like he had applied to, once upon a time, but wasn’t successful.

Little Taotie carefully looked at the photos of the lake, feeling that the lake was somewhat peculiar.

Little Taotie suggested, ”Shall we go to the site and take a look?”

Nie Qing checked the time, ”It’s too late now, we’ll set off tomorrow morning.”

Little Taotie took the documents home, looked at them for a long time, and eventually fell asleep. It wasn’t until Hua Jinyan knocked on the door that she awoke.

Seeing her red eyes and slightly swollen face, Hua Jinyan asked concernedly, ”Didn’t sleep well?”

Little Taotie stretched lazily, ”It’s okay, I can catch up on sleep in the car.”

Nie Qing’s car was parked next to the villa. Little Taotie yawned as she got into the car, handing the documents to Nie Qing, ”Brother Nie, I saw in the archives of the Special Department a place that looks very much like this lake, but it’s not a lake, it’s a valley.”

”A valley?” Nie Qing mused.

Valleys are often mountain basins, and if there’s continuous heavy rain, maybe... it might turn into a lake.

”Where is this valley?” Nie Qing asked.

Little Taotie shook her head, ”That file is incomplete, or at least the files I can access are incomplete. Perhaps you can call and ask Head Grandpa.”

Nie Qing felt a bit uneasy and shook his head, ”Let’s wait and see; we’ll go to the lake first.”

Little Taotie nodded her head, yawned, and closed her eyes to catch up on sleep.

As she slept, her little head tilted to the right, almost hitting the car window when Hua Jinyan quickly reached out to press her head onto his shoulder.

Nie Qing saw this scene through the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but chuckle.

Tsk! Childhood sweethearts, pure and innocent?

Truly enviable!

Because Little Taotie fell asleep, Nie Qing slowed down the car, keeping the speed steady.

After driving for nearly two hours, they arrived at the lake.

”This is the place.” He took out a Compass, which started to spin.

Hua Jinyan gently woke Little Taotie. Little Taotie opened her eyes, feeling much more refreshed, stretched, and got out of the car.

The young girl gazed at the tranquil lake ahead, trying to find the source of the water.

Suddenly, a disheveled Ghost floated up from the water, revealing a ferocious face, and its gloomy gaze fixed on them.

”Is it a Water Ghost?” Nie Qing frowned but then shook his head, ”Doesn’t seem like it.”

Little Taotie saw the heavy resentment on the Ghost’s forehead, ”It has strong resentment.”

Hua Jinyan nodded, ”It’s a vengeful spirit.”

”A Water Ghost would drag people underwater, but it wouldn’t have such intense resentment. It must not have drowned here, perhaps was murdered and thrown into the lake, or pushed into the water to drown.”

”Is that so? Should we go and ask her then?”

Little Taotie walked toward the lake.

Nie Qing tried to stop her, but it was too late; the young girl had already approached the lake, and the Ghost had lunged at Little Taotie.
