The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 1103: Chapter 1103: Emotional Deception

The old lady felt heartbroken, thinking she needs to prepare more good food at home in the future.

Under the old lady’s inquiry, the two little girls shared their family situations with her.

The character Xiao Lingzhi played, her mother is seriously ill and has been hospitalized for a long time. Because her father worries that the nurses might not take good care of his wife, he works as a male nurse, mainly taking care of his wife. This job doesn’t pay well, and with the heavy expenses from his wife’s illness, their family savings are nearly depleted, leaving them quite poor now.

The character Little Taotie played had an even worse situation. Her mother has passed away, and her father is deaf and mute, unable to find work other than as a janitor.

Previously, they picked up the Lollipop from the ground because it had been so long since either child had one.

Early in the morning, the two children went to collect bottles. After a hard effort, they exchanged them for money and bought a Lollipop, but could only afford one. So they took turns licking it, passing it back and forth, until it fell on the ground.

As the old lady listened, she almost cried.

She never imagined that even in these times, children would still have to share a candy like when she was a child, taking turns licking it with her siblings.

Indeed, in any era, there are always children untouched by the light.

The old lady took out a hundred-dollar bill and handed it over, ”Go buy some candies and eat more.”

But the two little girls hid their hands behind their backs, shaking their heads vigorously and said in unison, ”Dad said we can’t take other people’s money casually!”

”So well-behaved!” The old lady felt even more heartbroken for them.

”This is for running an errand for grandma. Help me buy a bottle of soy sauce, and use the extra money to buy candies.”

”Running fee?” Xiao Lingzhi hesitated, slightly tempted.

Little Taotie pulled her back and said in her childish voice, ”No! It’s just another way for us to take money!”

The old lady chuckled, reaching out to stroke Little Taotie’s head, ”Clever child!”

In the end, the two kids went home without taking any money.

As the house became silent, the old lady felt increasingly lonely. Having once heard the cheerful noise of children, its absence was now even harder to bear.

Early the next morning, the doorbell rang.

The old lady was puzzled. It had been a long time since visitors had come. Who could it be?

Upon opening the door, she heard two crisp voices, ”Grandma!”

”Oh!” The old lady beamed with joy, hurriedly inviting the two little girls inside.

Little Taotie took out a bottle of soy sauce from her bag, giggling, ”Grandma, I have money now, so I bought you soy sauce!”

Xiao Lingzhi also took out a bottle of soy sauce, laughing, ”I have money too, so I bought some!”

”Oh my! Did you go picking bottles again?” The old lady felt extreme sympathy, holding their little hands and peering at them.

”My dad took on a side job, so we have money now.” Xiao Lingzhi laughed.

Little Taotie excitedly said, ”My dad got a raise, and got extra pay for working in the heat!”

Upon detailed inquiry, the old lady learned that the male nurse working at the hospital was offered a side job by an insurance company to ask postpartum women if they needed insurance for their babies.

Due to the heat, more janitors suffered from heatstroke, which led to a shortage of manpower, so the company raised their pay and provided heatstroke preventive cold drinks.

The two parents earned some money and, feeling they had neglected their daughters, gave the children pocket money.

Though it wasn’t much, each child received 10 and 20 dollars respectively in pocket money.

Who would have thought that with the mere excuse of buying soy sauce yesterday, the children would remember and buy her soy sauce as soon as they had money.

Such thoughtful children made the old lady feel even more tender-hearted towards them.

The previous night, the old lady had gone to the supermarket and bought lots of snacks, intending to find them in the community the next day. Now that they were here, it was just right to give it to them.

She didn’t decline their kind gesture of giving soy sauce, and the two kids happily ate the snacks she prepared for them.

Emotions grow through interactions back and forth like this.

In this way, they frequently visited, and the kids no longer picked bottles. Most of their time was spent playing at her house, which now had lots of kids’ toys and snacks, creating a warmer and lively atmosphere, no longer lonely and quiet.

Days passed, and one day, the character Xiao Lingzhi played took out an insurance policy, sighing, ”If my dad can’t sell the insurance, he might lose the side job.”
