Medical and Martial God

As the dark spear shot towards Ye Liuyun at an astonishing speed under the cover of night, Ye Xiu didn’t make a move.

Yet, Ye Liuyun’s face showed no trace of fear. With a resounding CLANG, he drew his sword and shattered the dark spear with unbelievable ease.

This left Hachi utterly shocked. ”How is this possible?” he demanded. ”When I killed you before, you were a mere Second Realm War God. My casual strike just now had enough power to instantly kill a Third Realm War God, yet you shattered it so easily. How... how did you do that?”

Kuroki Suzu and the few others who had personally witnessed Hachi kill Ye Liuyun also wore expressions of complete disbelief. However, Kuroki Suzu was now more convinced than ever that Ye Liuyun was a ghost. There was no other way to explain how his strength could have increased so drastically in just a few hours.

”After you killed me, the King of Hell decided I was too weak,” Ye Liuyun bluffed grandly. ”He enhanced my power and sent me back to the world of the living to get my revenge on you.”

It’s true... Kuroki Suzu’s pretty face went pale with fear, her delicate body trembling. The speed of her silent chanting quickened. Spirits of heaven and earth...

Meanwhile, Hachi and the other members of the Tiansha Association were half-convinced. Ye Liuyun’s return was simply too eerie, leaving them with little choice but to consider the possibility. He was clearly dead, yet he had reappeared before them. He was clearly just a Second Realm War God, yet now he could effortlessly destroy an attack capable of killing a Third Realm War God.

In truth, Hachi knew about the Life Totem and had even suspected Ye Liuyun was a Totem Inheritor. But he couldn’t explain the sudden surge in Ye Liuyun’s power, so he could only attribute it to supernatural forces.

Actually, the reason for Ye Liuyun’s sudden increase in strength was all because of Ye Xiu.

Before being killed by Hachi, Ye Liuyun’s strength as a Martial Artist was at the Second Realm War God, and his Life Totem had only awakened to the First Stage. His overall power was merely at the peak of the Second Realm War God rank. But on the way to find Hachi, Ye Xiu had infused a stream of Spiritual Energy into Ye Liuyun’s body, causing his Life Totem to awaken to the Second Stage. Then, Ye Xiu gave him a drop of Golden Blood, helping the Life Totem awaken to the Third Stage. After that, Ye Xiu transferred Qiao Beiming’s Earth System Totem, which had awakened to the Fourth Stage, to Ye Liuyun. He even gave him his one and only Heaven-Mending Pill.

This was how, through an unnatural and rapid process of enhancement, a mere Second Realm War God was forcibly elevated into a master possessing the power of a Fifth Realm War God.

”Even if you are a ghost, I am not afraid! I killed you when you were alive, and I can kill you now that you’re a ghost!” Roiling black qi ignited around Hachi’s body as he charged at Ye Liuyun like a demon.

”Then try it!” Ye Liuyun met the charge with a ferocious expression, and the two clashed.

Hachi was a Sixth Realm War God, while Ye Liuyun was only a pseudo-Fifth Realm—and a newly promoted one at that, with all his power coming from his Totem. He was definitely no match for Hachi.

Chloe then noticed Ye Xiu’s fingers constantly flicking something into the air. With each flick, Hachi’s movements in his fierce battle with Ye Liuyun would become unnatural for a split second.

As the fight wore on, Hachi grew frantic. I’m clearly dodging his attacks with ease, so why is it that every time I see a chance to land a finishing blow, a vital point on my body seizes up with a sharp pain, as if I’ve been stabbed?

”Teacher, you’re bleeding!” the bald elder shouted.

At this point, Hachi’s subordinates and the Tiansha Association members led by Kuroki Suzu all felt their scalps tingle. They weren’t blind; they could see that Hachi’s state was incredibly strange. He was obviously stronger than Ye Liuyun, so how was he getting wounded all over as the fight progressed?

”What?” Hachi stole a glance at the painful spots on his body during a lull in the fighting, and the sight nearly scared the soul out of him. He saw that all the areas that had been wracked with pain were now bleeding.

”You... you really are a ghost?” Hachi was finally terrified. It was impossible not to believe it now; the situation was just too bizarre.

”The King of Hell wants to see you, and he sent me to pick you up,” Ye Liuyun said. He, of course, knew what was happening, but he kept up the pretense, continuing his relentless assault.

Hearing this, Hachi grew even more terrified. His will to fight completely shattered, he threw a palm strike with all his might, intending to flee. The blow did indeed force Ye Liuyun to dodge its brunt, but just as Hachi turned to run, a searing pain shot through his ankles, and his body thudded to the ground.

The tendons in both his ankles had been severed by a sharp blade.

”A ghost...!” Kuroki Suzu could no longer contain her terror. She screamed and ran for her life. Seeing this, the Tiansha Association members under her command quickly followed suit. Hachi’s men, including the bald elder, hesitated for a moment before they too turned and fled.

It wasn’t that they were disloyal or cowardly; it was simply that when faced with a vengeful spirit, they had no other option but to run.

”Young Master, should we not pursue them?” Chloe asked.

”I need them to stand against the three great Judicator Families,” Ye Xiu replied. ”The three great Judicator Families want to start a world war to unify the globe, which means they are no longer just my enemy. They are an enemy of the entire world.”

At a time like this, Ye Xiu was reluctant to slaughter Martial Artists wantonly. He needed the warriors of every nation to unite and confront the three great Judicator Families and the Eternal Kingdom.

”He has skin as tough as copper and bones as strong as iron. You can’t kill him!” Ye Xiu warned as he saw Ye Liuyun raise his sword to finish Hachi. He walked over and asked the man on the ground, ”Why do you hate the Xuanse people so much?”

Lying on the ground, Hachi shakily pushed himself up. His hawkish eyes stared like a venomous snake at Ye Xiu. ”I understand now. Ye Liuyun isn’t a ghost. You were the one ambushing me while I fought him.”

Ye Xiu ignored the accusation and said coldly, ”Answer my question.”

”I won’t tell you,” Hachi sneered with a perverse grin. ”Even if I die, I’ll let you be tormented by the mystery for the rest of your lives.”

”Tch. As if I’m dying to know,” Ye Xiu scoffed. He threw a punch that blasted Hachi’s head apart. Looking up at the night sky, he thought, Lin Canglan, I have avenged you!

Hachi was left speechless. He had originally planned to use the reason for his hatred of the Xuanse people as a bargaining chip with Ye Xiu, but he never imagined Ye Xiu would just kill him outright.

”Young Master, you could have crippled his martial prowess and let me hypnotize him,” Chloe said as she walked over.

”He’s a Sixth Realm and has reached Enlightenment,” Ye Xiu explained. ”Even if I crippled his martial prowess and destroyed his Dantian, his realm of cultivation would remain. With your current strength, you can’t hypnotize him. But I can have Kuroki Suzu ask Hachi’s subordinates.”

As he spoke, he took out his phone and sent Kuroki Suzu a text message.

「」

By now, Kuroki Suzu and the others had run a great distance and regrouped.

”Ye Liuyun didn’t follow us, right?” the bald elder asked fearfully.

Someone nearby answered, ”No!”

The bald man sighed in relief. ”So ghosts really do exist. That was too terrifying, too bizarre.”

”Exactly, exactly!”

”A ghost’s methods are mysterious and unfathomable. I didn’t even see how Ye Liuyun managed to injure our teacher.”

”I’m afraid the teacher’s chances were slim.”

Just as the Tiansha Association members were discussing the ”ghost,” Kuroki Suzu received the text from Ye Xiu. She immediately turned and asked, ”Senior Mitsui, why did the President hate the Xuanse people so much?”
