Medical and Martial God

”Who are you?”

Yan Long was startled by Ye Xiu’s sudden appearance. Even with his strength as a Sixth Realm War God, he hadn’t detected any trace of Ye Xiu’s movements. If Ye Xiu had launched a surprise attack, he would have been done for by now.

”Huang Quan,” Ye Xiu said indifferently.

”What? You... you’re Huang Quan?”

Yan Long took three steps back as a tremendous fighting spirit ignited within him. He laughed and said, ”I’ve just taken charge of the Xuanse Official Family’s Martial Artists, and I was wondering what I’d use to establish my authority and intimidate the world. Your timing is perfect. After I slay the world-renowned Huang Quan, no Martial Artist on the planet will ever dare to underestimate the Martial Artists of Xuanse again.”

”Are you done talking?” Ye Xiu asked.

Yan Long nodded. ”I’m done...”

SMACK!

Ye Xiu raised his hand and slapped him. Instantly, Yan Long was sent flying sideways like a shell, covering a hundred meters in the blink of an eye and still soaring through the air.

”You cur! How dare you act tough in front of me? I’ll fricking crush you!”

Ye Xiu flashed forward in pursuit. Before Yan Long even hit the ground, he kicked him, sending him flying back the way he came. Before he had flown another hundred meters, Ye Xiu teleported again to intercept him and delivered another kick.

Everyone watched, dumbfounded, as Huang Quan juggled Yan Long with his feet like a soccer ball. This included the Martial Artists from the Official Family, led by the Eight Great National Protector War Gods; the Second Realm War Gods from the thirteen vassal clans; and all of Yan Long’s disciples.

They were all utterly stupefied.

Yan Long had previously demonstrated his strength, which had stunned Qing Luan and the others. Coupled with his claim that his power completely overwhelmed Huang Quan’s, they had grown to fear him. That was why, when Ye Xiu arrived, Sang Qiuyu and the others pretended not to know him, and Sang Qiuyu had even anxiously urged Ye Xiu to flee. When Ye Xiu did escape just moments ago, it only served to further convince Qing Luan and the others that Yan Long hadn’t been bluffing.

But now... this display of Yan Long’s strength was just painful to watch! In Huang Quan’s hands, he was like a plaything, completely incapable of fighting back.

”I always thought he was a king, but he turned out to be a piece of junk,” lamented Nangong Yue, who had always considered herself Ye Xiu’s girlfriend.

This sentiment was shared by Qing Luan and the others. Yan Long’s disciples, however, were so shocked their jaws nearly hit the floor. Qing Luan and the others might not have known Yan Long’s exact strength, but his disciples certainly did. He was a genuine Sixth Realm War God, even stronger than the Pseudo Seventh Realm War Gods of the Restorer Alliance. Yet, with such formidable power, he was rendered utterly helpless in Huang Quan’s hands.

My god... Huang Quan’s reputation truly wasn’t just for show. He’s too strong!

”AAAAAH...”

The most shocked of all was Yan Long himself. He had believed that with his strength as a Sixth Realm War God, he was invincible, so long as the top experts of the three Arbiter Families and his few powerful friends remained in seclusion. Just yesterday, he had boasted in front of Qing Luan and many others that Huang Quan couldn’t withstand a single blow from him.

The result? Someone certainly couldn’t withstand a single blow, but it was he who couldn’t withstand one from Huang Quan.

”Aaaargh! This is infuriating! It’s killing me...” Yan Long screamed with rage as Ye Xiu kicked him back and forth. He wanted to fight back but found that Huang Quan never gave him an opening. He felt like he was being kicked to pieces.

Finally, Ye Xiu stopped, gripping Yan Long’s neck in his left hand. ”Still dare to act all high and mighty?” he asked.

”Huang Quan, you... you dare humiliate me in public! I’ll fight you to the death!” His dignity completely trampled, Yan Long prepared to risk his life in a final, desperate attack.

SMACK!

Ye Xiu’s slap swelled Yan Long’s left cheek. ”Still dare to act all high and mighty?” he asked coldly.

”You, you, you...”

SMACK!

”Still dare to act all high and mighty?”

”You...”

SMACK!

”Still dare to act all high and mighty?”

Yan Long didn’t dare to speak anymore. He realized that as soon as he opened his mouth, Huang Quan would hit him. He felt his left cheek go numb from the slaps, losing all sensation.

SMACK!

”Still dare to act all high and mighty?” Ye Xiu asked again. ”If you don’t answer, I’ll keep slapping you until you’re dead.”

Yan Long shivered. ”I don’t dare anymore!”

”Hmph!”

Ye Xiu casually tossed Yan Long to the ground. ”A worthless piece of trash who reached the Sixth Realm by absorbing Poisonous Spiritual Energy dares to put on airs in front of me?” he said coldly. ”Your entire body is now corroded by poison, and even your very foundation in the martial path has been tainted. In less than half a year, your realm will fall back to the Fifth. In less than a year, you will surely die.”

”This...” Yan Long suddenly looked up at Ye Xiu, his eyes and face filled with shock. Huang Quan had seen through him at a glance, even knowing the secret that he advanced his cultivation by absorbing Poisonous Spiritual Energy.

Forgetting his anger, Yan Long humbly asked, ”Um... with my current condition, is there any hope for me?”

”There is,” Huang Quan nodded. ”Go find Ye Xiu, the Medicine King of Xuanse. He can save you.”

With that, he departed.

Ye Xiu, the Medicine King of Xuanse?

Yan Long mulled over the name as if he had found his savior. He quickly scrambled to his feet, ran to Qing Luan’s side, and asked, ”Who is Ye Xiu, the Medicine King of Xuanse? Where is he? Quick, help your master find him.”

Qing Luan and the others couldn’t contain their amusement. It turned out Ye Xiu had put on the Huang Quan Suit and returned not just to beat up Yan Long, but to rub salt in his wounds.

Qing Luan immediately said, ”Ye Xiu is the Red Flame Army instructor. He’s the very person you wanted to kill just now.”

”What?” Yan Long looked as though he had been struck by lightning. ”Why didn’t you say so earlier?” he roared.

”I wanted to, but you interrupted me and wouldn’t let me speak,” Qing Luan feigned distress, though she was secretly delighted.

Yan Long was mortified. Just a moment ago, I was planning to kill the man, and now I have to go beg for his help?

He gave an awkward chuckle. ”Qing Luan, uh, could you do your master a favor? Please go apologize to Ye Xiu on my behalf and ask him to come treat my illness, alright?”

Qing Luan put on a troubled expression. ”Master, you don’t understand Ye Xiu. He’s as stubborn as a mule—he won’t move when led but backs up when prodded. You wanted to kill him, and now you want to invite him to treat you? With his temperament, he wouldn’t come even if you held a knife to his throat.”

Sang Qiuyu and the other Official Family Martial Artists present nearly burst out laughing. Qing Luan was truly an expert at digging a pit for her own master.

”This...” Yan Long grew anxious. Huang Quan had said that in half a year at most, his realm would fall, and in a year at most, he would be dead. My mission isn’t complete yet! I can’t die!

”Then... then what should I do to appease Ye Xiu?” Yan Long asked, all traces of his former pompous, masterly air gone.

”Well...” Qing Luan pretended to ponder for a moment before saying, ”I’ll go find Ye Xiu and see what his conditions are. Then I’ll come back and report to you, Master.”

Yan Long’s face immediately lit up. ”Go on, quickly!”

Qing Luan nodded and immediately ran after Ye Xiu. Not far from Zhaolu Farm, she saw a car stopped by the roadside. Ye Xiu, having already changed out of the Huang Quan Suit, was squatting by the road, smoking a cigarette.

”You knew I would come looking for you?” Qing Luan asked.

”I set the trap, so of course, I know who will fall into it,” Ye Xiu smiled. ”Did Yan Long send you to plead with me?”

”Mhm!” Qing Luan nodded. ”Master sent me to find out what it would take to appease you.”

”There’s no rush on that,” Ye Xiu said. ”First, tell me what’s going on with Yan Long. Why would the Official Family suddenly put a brute like him in charge of their Martial Artists?”
