Chapter 65: 65 - Money?!

”Did the people we saved have any special identities?” Lohan asked directly.

Aeliana hesitated for a moment and replied somewhat regretfully. ”I’m not authorized to tell you that information yet, but as I said, rewards like this come with many perks and are usually only given in exchange for great service to Thalendor.”

For those who understand, half a word is enough.

’So those children definitely had special identities in Thalendor... and from the way the adults were surprised at Aeliana’s mention, and how the children spoke of her, calling her Lia, it’s possible that her identity isn’t simple either. That’s good, at least our start in Thalendor won’t be bad.’

Satisfied with the explanation Aeliana could give, Lohan used [Chemical Sense Lv 5] to try to detect something bad like a trap in this card, but everything he felt and saw proved what she said.

Mythologically, most of what Lohan had heard about elves was about how fair, honorable, and honest they were, but this information he had heard about elves was based only on fictional characters he had heard about in the other world, and among those representations of elves there were also representations that were not so fair and honest, such as the Blood Elves.

Sure, their betrayal of the alliance in WoW wasn’t entirely their fault, but their arrogance and sense of superiority caused them to do bad things in history, showing that even long-lived and wise creatures made mistakes, and Lohan didn’t want to be a mistake that the elves of this world made.

’Is it wrong to use stories from other worlds, which at this point I don’t even know if they are fictional or real, to judge someone who looks like a real person in front of me? Definitely, but at the same time, this is the only prior information I have in a situation like this, and it’s better to be safe than sorry after shit happens.’

Fortunately, Aeliana had always shown great sincerity, never displaying arrogance or anything expected of someone who called themselves a ’High Elf,’ and after seeing Lisa also examine the card he was holding in front of her and find nothing wrong with it, he felt more relieved.

Seeing their hesitation, Aeliana reached out her hand and golden leaves gathered there, quickly forming a wooden card very similar to the one she was offering them, only small differences in the coat of arms were noticeable, besides that her card had only two green gems at the top, instead of the three gems on their cards.

Deciding to give a vote of confidence to someone who had never done anything wrong to him, and who was theoretically giving him a reward for saving someone important to her society, Lohan poured a drop of his biomass onto the card, and a feeling of relief came over him.

He felt nothing wrong happening to him, only the emergence of the possibility of a magical way to store the card inside himself.

Thinking about doing this, the card glowed with golden leaves and crumbled in his ”hand,” the leaves being absorbed by the gelatinous body and disappearing as if they had never existed.

Imagining it returning to his hand, the same golden leaves formed again from within him and the wooden card solidified once more.

Lisa had also done the same thing, and the card in front of her disappeared.

”Carrying this card this way is much more convenient,” Lohan commented, curious if he would gain anything if he tried to digest this card, but considering its current usefulness, it would be better to wait for a time when this card was no longer useful.

Considering how difficult it seemed to get one, according to Aeliana, it was better not to risk it now.

”Yes, haha, these cards were developed and improved by Thalendor’s magical and alchemical researchers centuries ago, and this final product is something that has only been distributed in the last 50 years,” Aeliana said proudly.

’It’s ironic how she treats 50 years as if they were 5...’ Lohan found the situation funny, but didn’t comment on it.

Although he didn’t have much experience in relationships, limiting himself only to things he saw on TV or the internet in the other world, he at least knew that talking about a girl’s age was an indelicate subject.

So he changed the subject.

”So now with this we can freely enter Thalendor?” He asked excitedly.

Aeliana nodded excitedly. ”Yes! I’d even like to take you there today if you’re free, but considering the time...” She said, looking up at the sky. ”I think most of the stores are closed now, so maybe tomorrow would be better for a walk, how about it?”

This made Lohan and Lisa’s eyes light up.

Exploring the city alone with such small bodies could be dangerous, even with the ID cards that they still didn’t know how effective they were, but with a guide like Aeliana, it would be a completely different story.

”That would be amazing,” he said in an excited voice, as if he were smiling while speaking mentally, even though he had no mouth.

”But before that, I have a question. Is there anything in the forest of Mythlorien that is valuable in Thalendor that we can get? After all, it would be better to visit the city with money in our pockets.”

Lisa’s eyes sparkled even more at his question, which touched precisely on the most important point for them.

Upon hearing the question, Aeliana brought her small white hand to her chin and thought for a few seconds. ”Hmm... I don’t know much about these things, but I heard my teacher complaining that she was angry with the Alchemy Shops for not restocking Shadow Serpent Digestive Acid. Maybe that’s something that would sell well?”

”Great! Maybe if I get enough of it, I can pay off the debt at the end of the month?” He thought excitedly.

It had been over a week since the loan was made, and he had just over two weeks to get at least $912 to pay the monthly interest the bank charged on the loan.

”And how much do you think this can be sold for?” he asked expectantly.

Aeliana kept her small hand on her chin and thought for a few seconds, until she shook her head and replied, a little embarrassed.

”I don’t know.”
