Slime Evolution

Chapter 54: 54 - Great Harvest!

[New Digested Material - Artificial Magic Core Harmonizer Lv 1]

[Evolution available.]

[Magic Core Lv 4 → Lv 5]

[Total Mana: 19.9 → 21.89]

As soon as this notification appeared, the first thing Lohan felt was the Mana inside him becoming even more intense, flowing uncontrollably through his Mana Paths and brutally expanding them.

Despite the slight pain he felt, the dopamine rush from the feeling of power growing as he evolved was much more intense than that.

Stopping the conversation immediately, Lohan opened the evolution tab and there was the new skill.

[Artificial Magic Core Harmonizer Lv 1] - 20 Bio

[An artificial organ that synchronizes control over the magic core’s Mana with the organism’s motor needs. This synchronization reduces the delay between thought and execution of magic, increasing the efficiency and control of Mana usage at each level.]

Reading that explanation, if he had a mouth, he would be drooling right now.

For someone with great magical potential like him, this skill was like giving wings to a tiger!

Without hesitation, Lohan spent 20 Biomass to purchase this evolution and began to feel the change.

The moment the Biomass was consumed, Lohan’s core, which had previously pulsed like a rough engine, flooding the Mana channels scattered throughout the jelly in a chaotic manner, underwent a sudden compression.

First came silence, from a ”noise” that he had not even realized existed in his body before.

The constant internal pressure that Mana exerted against the cell walls of his jelly disappeared, replaced by a feeling of lightness and control.

It was as if the messy interior of his bluish mass had suddenly been filled with thousands of invisible filaments of high conductivity.

Then came clarity.

Lohan felt the new ”organ” mesh around the [Magic Core Lv 5] like a perfect gear, filtering every pulse of energy that had previously leaked out in a crude form, greatly accelerating the process of transporting Mana through his body.

It was an incredible feeling of connection, as if he had previously controlled Mana with a 250 ms ping, and now upgraded his internet to one that let him play at 150 ms. The time discrepancy still existed, but the control that this high speed brought was incredible.

Lohan extended a tentacle, and even before completing the physical movement, the Mana was already there, concentrated and stable at the tip of the limb, ready to conjure an [Ice Spike].

He was fascinated by that feeling.

Looking at his status screen, seeing that the biomass he had stored for emergencies already exceeded 100, he couldn’t resist and bought a few more upgrades.

[Magic Core Lv 5 → Lv 7]

[Total Mana: 21.89 → 26.47]

[Artificial Magic Core Harmonizer Lv 1 → Lv 2]

Upon purchasing these evolutions, Lohan felt the Magic Core inside him pulsing strongly, exuding Mana through his small gelatinous body, but being quickly suppressed and controlled by the Artificial Harmonizer, making the leaking Mana much calmer and more comfortable for his body.

To upgrade the Magic Core by 2 levels, Lohan spent 66 Biomass, and to evolve the Harmonizer, he spent another 27.8 Bio, totaling an expenditure of over 93 Biomass!

This was an astronomical amount for Lohan a week ago, but for the current Lohan, after calculating the Biomass gain per hour after rising to Level 03, he was already digesting 49 Bio/h!

NunuNote: For data nerds like me, here is the current calculation of Lohan’s Biomass Digestion Speed: [Base Digestion: 10.48 bio/h + (210% Mass Expansion Lv 7: 22 bio/h) + (50% Passive Digestion Lv 5: 5.24) = 37.72 /h + (30% Clone Lv 3 : 11.31) = 49.03 Bio/h]

Since his density and body size were greater now, even if he digested biomass for a few hours, he would still be able to maintain this value without waste, but with how cheap some of his skills still were, an idea came to mind.

’After recovering my reserve stock of biomass, I’m going to treat myself to buying a few dozen evolutions hahaha!

He was so excited that he didn’t notice the strange look Lisa gave him when she saw the little creature writhing with happiness while digesting a human head.

Seeing such happiness in the midst of such a grotesque scene, she couldn’t resist her curiosity and asked. ”Did you get your new Skill?”

Lohan formed a small hand next to his body and gave her a big thumbs up. ”Yes, and it was a great Skill, now I’ll be able to cast spells faster and possibly spend even less Mana.”

Lisa looked at him in surprise.

As a race with a high magical and spiritual affinity, she knew how important a skill like that was!

So much so that she had to look away so as not to stare at the radiant slime with envy.

”Great, do you still need to keep digesting that head?” she asked impatiently. They had been here for over 30 minutes, and that was only the first body he had digested. At this rate, they would need to stay for two hours for Lohan to eat all of these people’s heads.

Noticing her impatience, Lohan felt a little guilty.

She could be killing monsters on her own and getting stronger, but because of him, she felt quiet and just waited, chatting to kill the boredom.

Since Lohan entered Elysium, this had been his basic routine, so he was used to it and didn’t realize how boring and unproductive it was for other Players, but on the other hand, he also didn’t want to give up the skills he could receive by digesting these other humans.

With such a good harvest from the Mage alone, what else could he possibly receive from the others?

Instead of trying to trick Lisa into leaving him alone, Lohan was just honest with her.

”I believe staying here is more useful for my growth than going to kill other monsters, do you think you can handle those bears alone?” he asked.

Hearing his question, the fox instantly frowned and stared at him in frustration. ”Couldn’t you have said that earlier?”

Angry, she didn’t even answer his question and ran off, leaving the little Slime to digest the bodies of the four humans alone.

Looking at her back as she walked away angrily, Lohan felt guilty. After all, he really could have said that earlier and not ”stolen” those 30 minutes of grinding from her.

’Damn... things were simpler when I just rolled around aimlessly, but if it weren’t for her, I’d still be at Level 01 and might not even have this opportunity to digest these humans. What to do?’

When it came to dealing with evolution efficiency or acquiring new knowledge, Lohan was very confident, but when it came to close interpersonal relationships, he had very little experience.

’In the other world, I had no friends because of my physical disability. In this world, I have no friends because of my social and financial disabilities... and when I do make a ”friend,” I find that I don’t know how to deal with them either.’

While digesting the heads of the other three humans, Lohan’s mind kept thinking about what he could do to make it up to Lisa.
