Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Amidst the chaos that had forced the Blue Sea Empire to shrink its territory to the limit, the battle between the eight peak figures from both sides came to a sudden stop. The two weaker Land Creation Realm cultivators fighting on the side of the Blue Sea Empire turning to look up towards the old ancestor in full control of the Blue Sea Empire’s defensive formations.

”Is something wrong?” Among the two, the first to speak up was the Land Creation Realm cultivator that had been recruited by the old ancestor, as he clearly sensed something wrong as the demonic cultivators that had been attacking them without any restraints so far had suddenly stopped and now just observed them from a distance. The reason the battle came to a stop was because the demonic cultivators had suddenly decided to retreat, something that was rather bewildering considering their aggressive behavior over the past few months when they hadn’t shown any sign of stopping their attack for even a second.

And given he hadn’t been able to sense anything, it was only obvious for him to turn towards the much stronger ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire for answers.

”This… I don’t know, it might be the Star Shattering Sect, but from what I recall, there should still be a few days left until the time limit set by them is up…” Shaking his head somewhat helplessly as he responded, the old ancestor could only disappoint this old friend he had recruited for help against the demonic cultivators.

Even if he was stronger and the area covered by his divine sense after taking control of his empire’s defensive formations stretched far beyond what someone in the Land Creation Realm would normally be able to handle, he still couldn’t figure out what the demonic cultivators were up to nor why they had suddenly stopped their relentless attack.

The only reason he could think about was that the Star Shattering Sect had decided to make a move ahead of time, but as his divine sense observed the edges of the Star Shattering Sect’s territory, he didn’t sense anything off. Meaning that… The reason for the pause from these demonic cultivators likely didn’t have anything to do with the Star Shattering Sect.

Unless… They decided to stop their aggressive attack before the time limit set by the Star Shattering Sect was up to not offend the Star Shattering Sect.

But doing something like that was a bit confusing to the old ancestor, as although the Star Shattering Sect was not a force someone like him wanted to fight against if it could be avoided, there was no reason for a power like the Frozen Wastelands to show that much fear and respect towards the Star Shattering Sect.

In other words, the reason for their sudden retreat and pause was because of something different, something that he couldn’t see even with his strength bolstered by the countless defensive formations of his empire… And that fact alone was more than enough to terrify him, as he understood very well that he would soon enough have to face whatever it was that the demonic cultivators were planning to use against him.

For now, the only thing he could do was signal for the other two to retreat and prepare for a potential deadly attack while he himself got ready for whatever the demonic cultivators were planning.

After all, though five demonic cultivators had already appeared, he understood full well that the largest threat in the Frozen Wasteland was far from just these five. Instead, it was the Blood Sea Demon King, also known as the Frozen Wastelands Demon King, the ruler of the Frozen Wastelands and at the same time also someone who was also close to the Peak of Land Creation Realm in terms of strength.

So far, though he had been locked in a deadly battle with the five demonic cultivators, most of his focus had always been on the Frozen Wastelands in the distance. Keeping an eye out for the Blood Sea Demon King, as only he could realistically stand a chance at forcibly breaking through the defensive formations that guarded the core of the Blue Sea Empire.

Ruuumble~!

However, as the Ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire’s attention was focused on the borders of the Frozen Wastelands, a sudden tremble suddenly emerged from the capital city of the Blue Sea Empire-

”Wha-!?”

BOOOM-!

And before he had the chance to turn around and stop whatever was happening, a loud explosion suddenly occurred at the very heart of the capital city, as a terrifying sea of blood suddenly emerged above the capital city before cascading down into the capital. Forcibly submerging anyone unfortunate enough to be caught in the descending sea of blood.

”BLOOD SEA DEMON KING!? HOW!?”

Realizing what was happening the second, the terrifying sea of blood manifested above the capital city behind him, the Ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire couldn’t stop himself from yelling out in utter disbelief as the sea of blood cascaded down from above and submerged the entire city and all its inhabitants. Only sparing a few areas of critical importance that were protected by powerful defensive formations strong enough to hold back the sea of blood.

Still, the time it took for the ancestor to react was already far too slow, as close to ninety percent of the people inside the capital of the Blue Sea Empire had already perished by the time he rushed back. The Blood Sea Demon King standing amidst the sea of blood with a somewhat taunting look on his face as he seemingly invited the ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire to attack him-

RUUUMBLE-!

Something that wasn’t too difficult to accomplish, as the old ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire was already overcome with rage after seeing his capital drenched in blood. Wasting no time as he gathered his full strength alongside the countless still active defensive formations to attack the Blood Sea Demon King hovering above the central square of the capital that had already been reduced to a bloody mess.

BOOOM-!

But as the terrifying attack that easily reached the limits of the Land Creation Realm landed on the Blood Sea Demon King, it became clear that something was wrong, as the Blood Sea Demon King, who should have been more than capable of fighting back crumbled with little to no resistance. Not even putting up a single barrier to block the incoming attack.

”Not good! This isn’t the Blood Sea Demon King, but one of his blood puppets!” Cursing to himself as he realized what was happening, the old ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire watched in shock as the Blood Sea Demon King who had been staring tauntingly at him only a split second earlier crumbled to reveal a pale looking handsome young man staring up at him filled with horror before he was crushed into a bloody pulp.

But, by now, it was already too late, as during the short time he had taken to rush back to the capital city to deal with the Blood Sea Demon King who had suddenly appeared and started a slaughter, the real Blood Sea Demon King had already rushed over from the Frozen Wasteland and appeared at the edge of the defensive formations guarding the core of the Blue Sea Empire’s territory.

The two Land Creation Realm cultivators still there didn’t stand a chance, as they were easily pushed aside, as the Blood Sea Demon King launched a devasting blow that directly shattered several defensive formations that now lacked the personal supervision of the old ancestor.

After all, though there were countless defensive formations in place throughout the core territory of the Blue Sea Empire, it was impossible to control all of them at once… And to rush back to defend the capital city, the old ancestor had momentarily let go of some of the outer defensive formations to fully control the more deadly formations that guarded the capital city. Leaving those other defensive formations in a passive defensive state that would normally be more than strong enough to hold back those five demonic cultivators.

But…

With the Blood Sea Demon King around, they posed little to no resistance, as they broke apart with a single attack.

Even worse, as the old ancestor found himself rushing back to hold back the Blood Sea Demon King, he realized that the blood sea that had swept through the capital seconds earlier had somehow managed to infect several defensive formations and was constantly corroding those formations from the inside.

Normally, this kind of internal corrosion wasn’t too difficult to deal with, but with the added pressure of having to fight off the Blood Sea Demon King, someone who was far stronger than himself, it was impossible to dedicate even a fraction of his attention to solving the internal corrosion problem.

Worse yet, with the other two Land Creation Realm cultivators on his side busy trying to hold off the remaining five demonic cultivators on their own with the help of some of the still intact defensive formations, there was simply no way for them to take care of this problem either, as the old ancestor could only watch the blood red spiritual qi left by the blood sea tearing apart the defensive formations from the inside.
