Realized Game: I Hoarded 10 Billion Defense Towers

In that last wave, he had destroyed a total of over sixty Monster Nests. At this moment, all the nests that needed to be taken care of had been cleared out. He just had to wait for the final ten-minute countdown to end, and this first full-scale monster tide since the implementation of Version 4.1 would be over.

In truth, because Shen Fei possessed the Teleportation Gate Tower, the so-called 8,000-kilometer safe zone wasn’t even necessary. He didn’t actually have to go to the trouble of teleporting all over the country to help everyone. He could have easily used the five cities with Teleportation Arrays as hubs, placing Teleportation Gates from his tower directly at every settlement. Then, he could have teleported all the players and civilians from the settlements to these hub cities.

But he didn’t do that.

This was because where there are people, there is hope. If everyone was moved to the Neutral Cities, there would be no one left to defend the land. Large swathes of territory would be lost, and that was unacceptable.

Where there are people, there is hope! With land, there is a foundation!

Shen Fei would rather endure the hardship of teleporting all over the country to help everyone than abandon their inherent territory.

Humanity is the master of this planet! Trapping all of humanity inside Neutral Cities is not an option!

All sorts of vast special zones directly forbade human passage. Even the once resource-rich and boundless oceans had all become special zones, forbidden to humans.

This is unacceptable! The masters of this planet must be human! We must preserve humanity’s settlements and leave behind the embers of a counterattack. In the end, we will smash all those so-called ”forbidden zones”!

Besides, some people were deeply attached to their homelands and wouldn’t necessarily want to leave their settlements; forcibly relocating them could cause even greater chaos. Therefore, due to a combination of these reasons, Shen Fei did not use the Teleportation Gate Tower directly. Instead, he chose to teleport nationwide.

Looking at it now, the result was a good one. He had destroyed the vast majority of the Monster Nests in the settlements. These people would no longer have to worry about the monster tides that erupted every three days.

WHOOSH.

WHOOSH.

WHOOSH.

He paid no mind to the excited posts on the Forum from players whose worries had vanished now that the Monster Nests were destroyed. Shen Fei stood on the city walls of [Ye City], quietly waiting for the countdown to end. After the countdown finished and he confirmed that everything concerning the monster tide was over with no further complications, he had to get busy with another matter.

My only regret is not leveling up to 140... A bad review!

Looking at his level, Shen Fei felt a little frustrated. He had originally planned to reach level 140 after wiping out every Monster Nest that gave a billion experience points. He hadn’t expected to get stuck at level 139.

This was because the experience required to get from level 130 to 140 increased with each level. Furthermore, following Qing City’s lead, Neutral Cities like the Divine Capital and Songhai had chosen not to destroy the nearby Monster Nests. Consequently, since he destroyed fewer Monster Nests than the total number of available bosses, Shen Fei had earned less experience. The combination of these two factors left him short of level 140.

Shen Fei guessed that there would probably be a major change upon reaching level 150 or 200. But level 140 was also a minor ten-level milestone, and he was just shy of reaching it. This set off Shen Fei’s compulsive tendencies, leaving him feeling miserable.

WHOOSH.

WHOOSH.

WHOOSH.

Amidst Shen Fei’s frustration, time passed quickly. Finally, with no further incidents, the countdown for when the Monster Nests could be attacked slowly ticked down to zero under everyone’s watchful eyes.

WHOOSH.

The instant the countdown hit zero, the open Monster Nests suddenly lit up. Then, the nests, which had been open like blooming chrysanthemums, suddenly contracted, shrinking into millstone-sized circles hanging in the air. Above them, an ”Invincible” status appeared.

With that, the nationwide monster tide triggered by Version 4.1 was finally over.

”Hm?”

Just as he was about to wrap things up and move on to the next task, Shen Fei was caught by surprise. His personal panel had suddenly opened again.

DING!

[The first monster tide since the full implementation of Version 4.1 has ended!]

[Detected that you have eliminated over 30% of the global monster share. Special reward: 30 billion EXP!]

DING!

[Level reached: 140!]

[Defense Tower capacity limit unlocked: +8]

[Achievement Unlocked—Monster Nest Slayer!]

[Monster Nest Slayer Lv. 1: You can enter nests directly, striking enemies unseen. When entering a space identified as a nest, Attack Power is increased by 10%...]

To Shen Fei’s astonishment, his personal panel, and his alone, had opened, with lines of text scrolling across it. His level actually reached 140, and he had even gotten an achievement!

”Holy crap!” he exclaimed, stunned by the sudden level-up and achievement. ”Did the system grow a conscience, or what’s going on?”

Usually, with all the version-breaking events and unique circumstances, every rule update had seemed to target him specifically. He never expected that this time, it would actually be kind enough to give him a reward. He didn’t know if his luck had finally turned, or if things had simply become fairer with the full implementation of Versions 4.1 and 4.2.

A good thing! A very good thing!

Regardless, the level 139 display that had been triggering his obsessive tendencies had finally turned to 140. That alone was good news.

WHOOSH.

Seeing that no other anomalies occurred, Shen Fei nodded to the Songhai players. He then took Sun Yu with him, boarded the Teleportation Array, and returned to Qing City. From there, he quickly went back to his own home.

With that, the monster tide was over. All the Monster Nests in the various settlements of the Great Xia had been cleared out.
