Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2338: Chapter 2333: Checklist (20)

Special, but reasonable.

Abandoned hotel, a stolen car with its engine still running, Fu Qian listened to the last item on the old man’s wish list, feeling quite reflective at that moment.

It’s special because, as a Middle Tier transcendent who controls extraordinary powers, he is genuinely stepping into death calmly, rather than wishing for a few more centuries.

Yet it’s also reasonable, as it is a wish list, after all, and having death as the final wish fits the theme perfectly.

Even the manner of death allows for empathy.

Quietly fading away in sleep could be considered a decent ending for most lives.

”So, what do you need me to do?”

Praising inwardly, Fu Qian did not forget his role as an employee and proactively asked the old man’s arrangement for this final wish.

”You can stay in the car... Sorry, I can’t tell you more because I don’t trust you.”

Cardon’s response was identical to when he first came here.

Perhaps due to the nearing end, the old man even expressed sincere apologies and explained a bit more.

Of course, a dying person’s words become less euphemistic, directly admitting his suspicion of Fu Qian.

”This is indeed an unplanned scene, but like I said when drinking coffee, your performance makes me feel it’s okay.

”Also, please believe that as long as you sit here, you’ll be of help to me.”

...

Oh?

The old man’s sincerity was touching, increasingly resembling a mentor’s wise counsel before death.

He even praised Fu Qian’s performance highly.

”I understand, it’s an honor to help, and besides, I do have a prize, right?”

Fu Qian humbly gestured, displaying the Cross Star Pendant.

It was not sarcasm; just thinking casually, it’s clear how mysterious his image appeared to the old man.

Just the contrast of looking like an ordinary person on the outside but actually having transcendent powers is enough to overturn perceptions.

Not to mention the various actions with unclear intentions all along.

The key here is that even if you want intentions clear, it’s useless.

Telling the old man directly, ”I’m here to help, treat me like a genie?”

Doing so, it’s unimaginable how much the experienced old man’s guard would increase.

He has a complete checklist, a whole set of plans for his death.

The plan is so complete that, even a regular person hired for a large sum, transforming into a transcendent of unknown origin, is still accommodated.

Such a plan, surely the old man would not allow any failure of control.

So the most likely outcome is him exerting effort, using lies and misdirection to build a firewall against potential risks.

From start to finish, the communication has always been in an extremely subtle state.

Seems relaxed, lying flat, but actually achieving this clear-minded conversation is quite rare in Fu Qian’s judgment—

”In your original plan, what would happen if I gave up midway? You know that possibility is high; a regular person’s endurance is limited.”

Cardon’s gaze fell on the Cross Star Pendant, while Fu Qian casually inquired.

”It’s okay, you would still follow me here, even enter inside with me...”

Without hesitation, the old man pointed to the room that once belonged to his father, his calmness was accompanied by cold confidence.

...

Very reasonable, indeed a perfect plan.

Fu Qian nodded secretly at that moment.

As mentioned earlier, the old man made a comprehensive, forgiving plan for this last journey of life.

As for the implication in the previous answer, it may sound overly dominant; whether you’re willing or not, you must follow through.

But don’t forget, even if money loses its magic power, this person is still a psychic transcendent.

For someone without strong willpower, direct coercion is at his fingertips.

”But you still won’t tell me my purpose?”

Without concealing the admiration, Fu Qian confirmed once more.

”No, knowing it would just reduce the probability of you helping.”

Sure enough, Cardon immediately shook his head.

”I understand, but I can share a little discovery with you.”

Without any hint of calculation, Fu Qian swiftly changed the topic, gesturing for Cardon to look up, while adjusting the angle of the pendant in his hand.

”Did you notice that with this shape elongated, it fits quite well for the missing needle?”

Indeed, the cheap decorative clock atop the hotel.

At this moment, Fu Qian confirmed that its dial, the pendant in his hand, and Cardon’s gaze were aligned.

...

”Earlier, we talked about the commercial potential here; logically, it shouldn’t have been too bad, yet it directly went bankrupt... I feel like I’ve found a possible reason now.”

Cardon didn’t speak, nor did he retract his gaze.

Fu Qian didn’t mind, continuing without pause.

”I thought the thing has both advantages and disadvantages, can bring wealth or disrupt momentum, especially once its operation falters... Now it seems, the missing needle, could it be a deliberate act by villains?”

Although, as the topic strayed further, the mask of a worldly swindler became evident.

”It should be their doing; they were originally a group.”

Yet, in the next moment, an unexpected reaction appeared.

Gaze finally returned to Fu Qian’s face, with a meaningful expression, Cardon surprisingly agreed with Fu Qian’s conjecture.

”Moreover... my father sensed that greatness here.”

Not just that, he even revealed a more shocking piece of information.

”I must say, you have repeatedly made surprising observations, compared to letting you speculate, sharing more is better...

”The reason my father brought me here was because a familiar patient needed his help. Indeed, upon arriving, he was busy and had no time for me... And I believe you can already guess that the goal of his long-distance visit is also a member of that special group.”

Indeed, as mentioned before, to avoid interference with the plan, the old man only shares information based on your level of exploration.

It certainly is shocking information, at this point the series of events back then seem entirely connected.

Additionally, when Cardon mentioned his father, his expression was quite subtle, even pointing to his mouth.

”I was surprised when I discovered this, but what’s more surprising is his method of treatment... My father and other ’Unjust’ people, together, ate their sister.”
