Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2336: Chapter 2331: Checklist (18)

”Huh?”

The voice came from Raymond, but Fu Qian felt Cardon’s reaction at that moment was also appropriate.

It was obvious that his suggestion had a significant impact on both listeners.

It’s not surprising, as anyone with a normal mind would easily realize that the suggestion had no relevance to the predicament Raymond was facing.

Like many people, Raymond was very dissatisfied with his life.

At the same time, he was representative of those who felt powerless to change that dissatisfaction.

At such a time, a life coach indeed becomes necessary, but the content of the guidance—

”What, can’t even afford that?”

Faced with Raymond’s hesitation, the life coach’s voice suddenly turned cold.

Expert Fu’s motivational seminars were open for free, but was he really not planning to show any appreciation?

”No! It’s not that... I just don’t understand—what if they still don’t come even if the coffee goes bad?”

Just as his nerves had relaxed a bit, they instantly tensed up again with the questioning from behind.

Raymond hurriedly expressed that he could afford it, then softly posed his inner confusion.

Actually, his attitude was already very tactful.

What Fu Qian asked him to do seemed simple, but upon closer thought, numerous practical issues became apparent.

Besides noticing food spoilage, which store owners are apt to recognize, how about confirming the names, asking each one?

And even if the names matched, how to confirm it was those two people?

And how to ensure they would accept?

Of course, the final and most crucial question—how would this improve Raymond’s miserable life?

Naturally, he dared not bring up this question.

”Then replace it with a new one.”

The mentor was indeed a mentor; Fu Qian obviously anticipated Raymond’s questions and let out a low chuckle from his throat.

”Even if it’s brand new and expires again, they still might not come, and even if they do come, they might not want to talk to you, and even if they do talk, they might not want to drink your coffee—”

Before Raymond could express having learned something, Fu Qian had already continued, revealing layers of pessimism and helplessness.

”Most importantly, even if they do drink it, they won’t leave you with any martial arts manual, a peerless sword, or a fruit that grants ability which would completely change your life... In fact, it won’t even change the bleak business of your store.”

He went further to directly point out the doubt that Raymond dared not articulate and gave a truly despairing answer.

”The reason you need to do this is simple; I’m telling you that you should do it.”

The relentless sharpness struck coldly once more as Fu Qian uttered a plain but cruel sentence.

...

Helping someone discover the meaning of life and motivating them to become a new self sounds indeed very beautiful, and perhaps it is what a life coach should do.

Unfortunately, based on Fu Qian’s years of experience, in most cases, it is just an artificially dramatized beauty.

Having motivation requires also having the means to drive forward.

For many people, simply knowing the right thing doesn’t help.

A long-struggling soul has lost the strength to take the right path.

For true professionals, in such situations, the key thing to provide becomes motivation instead.

For example, Brother Raymond.

He was already incapable of self-analysis, let alone driving action by telling himself what’s right.

So, Fu Qian chose to directly provide an external motivation, even borrowing the personas of two old friends’ names.

In short, for Brother Raymond, starting today, he had something he had to do whenever he opened his eyes, and he could persist without internal consumption.

This would most likely not make his life any more exciting, since Bernard and Rosetta weren’t lucky enough to frequently slip into the real world.

Even if they did come to the real world, the chance to coincidentally walk into this store was extremely slim.

Without surprises, Raymond will spend his life in meaningless waiting.

But perhaps this meaningless action can allow him to sit here more calmly every day.

Of course, this hope is just a small reward for the help he provided in the task.

”I think he understood.”

At a certain moment, it was unexpectedly Cardon, who had been silent for a long time, who suddenly spoke, his demeanor shifting from confusion to calm.

And while observing Raymond, who seemed to have crashed, Cardon even stood up, expressing that Fu Qian’s teaching was very successful.

”Should we leave? This coffee is indeed terrible.”

Immediately changing the subject, Cardon expressed his unwillingness to stay longer.

”But still, it must be paid for.”

Nodding, Fu Qian seemed very satisfied with Cardon’s transformation, though he still emphasized a bit extra.

And he wasn’t just talking; his hand reached into his clothes the next moment.

When he withdrew it again, he was gripping a gun holster with intricate patterns, which he casually tossed in front of Raymond.

Click...

Moreover, the thumb of the other hand was slowly lowering the hammer of a handgun back into place.

The next moment, this piece of art-grade weapon was also dropped beside Raymond.

”Let’s go.”

After finishing all this, Fu Qian casually called out to Cardon, already striding ahead.

And until he stepped outside the door, no bullet fired from behind.

...

”An excellent performance.”

Even though the reward Fu Qian provided was some overly precious, Cardon, who was apparently the suspect owner of the weapon, didn’t seem to mind.

Upon sitting back in the car, the old man even highly praised Fu Qian’s earlier display.

As someone knowledgeable and on the verge of death, he obviously could empathize quite a bit.

”You flatter me; I must thank you for your cooperation.”

Fu Qian was also very humble, even turning back the appreciation.

Each matter is handled separately, and this was by no means courtesy.

If not for the old man’s performance of taking a bullet without falling, the chance of Brother Raymond shooting them from behind would have been a bit higher.

After all, people have the instinct to eliminate fear, like shooting a thug who turns their back.

But now, in this thug duo, one has already been nailed as someone who can take a bullet and not die.

This scenario undoubtedly brings significant despair.

In theory, such a bullying from a higher dimension could be pursued for justice with the Night Watchman.

But even if the latter provided service with utmost excellence, putting a Transcendent on trial for such inexplicable intimidation would be unlikely.

And don’t forget that the shooter wasn’t even confirmed to be a Transcendent... and there might be Bernard and Rosetta who could come for coffee.

In conclusion, as long as there is a slight practical understanding of the world, Brother Raymond should not want to touch the gun handle before the two completely left.

”So, what’s the next project?”

Currently, not only did Fu Qian offer verbal gratitude, but he also placed his hand on the steering wheel, actively implying that he would continue to maintain his position.

The completion of the fifth item on the list, evidenced by Cardon’s senior seating himself in the back seat before, fully demonstrated this point.
