Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2013: Chapter 2008: Success Story

All things strive and flourish with vitality.

Even in winter, the warm afternoon sun at the Academy still soothes the soul.

The view is limited to a small scope, but it doesn’t stop Fu Qian from marveling at the beauty of life.

With just a few steps forward, he can clearly recognize that he is approaching the Benevolence Institute, and it’s the same familiar one he knows.

Fake things can’t become real, the Doomsday will eventually be defeated.

That’s right, once he puts on the mask again, the Gospel, the weeping, the darkness, the fire claw...

Everything, like the wrath of Mother of the Gospel, has left no trace.

The false history has neatly and abruptly returned to fiction.

It seems that Mother of the Gospel finds ”Jade Soul Master” easier to locate than finding him, prompting her to make a swift choice.

Though he doesn’t know if a price must be paid, as a beneficiary of the circumstances, Fu Qian nonetheless feels his hardships validated.

”Professor Fu——”

So when he sauntered leisurely to the front of the Benevolence Institute in a tea break manner, it clearly baffled the staff there.

No choice about it, his uniquely styled armor is one thing, but the fact that this eminent scholar is holding a disposable cup in his right hand is iconic enough to make one instinctively look for a cake in the other hand.

”Sir, are you... intending to enter?”

And after a futile attempt, the two Gatekeepers finally remembered to confirm the intention.

”May I enter?”

The miracle that was obscuring perception finally shattered, Fu Qian smiled as he surveyed the two somewhat familiar Night Watchmen, acknowledging that even this conversation seemed somewhat familiar.

”Sir is free to come and go as you please.”

As Night Watchmen, fearing an academician is unthinkable, but the two promptly replied, their tone formal and meticulous.

Oh? It’s almost as if I’m revered and esteemed wherever I go.

It’s easy to imagine this as a special instruction from Yuan Fang and his counterparts, facing this experience similar to that of the Swordsmanship Department, Professor Fu felt gratified for a moment in his old age.

”No, I’m just wandering around.”

Though immediately afterward, he indicated he was merely on a stroll, even raising the cup in his hand.

”All right...”

The two Night Watchmen no longer knew what to say, merely nodding stiffly.

...

It’s not about being low-key; mainly, the projects on the Benevolence Institute side are almost complete, so there’s really no need to disturb further.

On the other hand, he does indeed need to take a brief rest.

The Heart Demon index increased drastically, and it’s not just talk.

The Breaking Walu Technique from earlier, indeed using an alternative approach, made the opponent voluntarily dismantle the meticulously laid trap, possibly even bearing some cost as a result.

But the costs he paid for it are now manifesting— the world is rejecting him.

For instance, although everything seems normal, the sunlight at two or three o’clock in the afternoon shines on him without bringing any warmth.

Even this temporary document in front of him, his sync rate is decreasing, like a dream that could wake at any moment.

If this situation develops to the extreme, it would mean being completely ejected from this isolated area.

And once materialism fails, what’s left to greet the Academy seems like a thorough idealism, following in the original Akons’ footsteps, becoming part of Jade Soul Master’s ”pure self”.

As for these people within it... Judging from the two Night Watchmen’s reactions earlier, even when he’s continually being thrown into the temporary document, everything at the Academy continues its normal operation.

Yet until now, there hasn’t been any major commotion, indicating that the idealization hasn’t been much detected.

For an Academy once heavily wounded, a player like this is indeed overpowered.

If he loses, a group of people would probably have no power to resist.

Of course, even if slightly at a disadvantage, that step is still a bit distant.

He just needs a short rest to stabilize and ready himself to continue being a nailing point or even to counterattack.

While walking, he can clearly see the lab’s dazzling glass roof.

But Fu Qian did not continue forward; instead, he sat on a bench by the side of the road, stretching lazily, staring dazedly at the leaves of a snow tree not far away.

With the empty disposable paper cup in his hand, he exudes a definitive ”sudden self” style.

”Is there anyone here?”

Alas, how could they let him rest a little?

The greenest snow tree leaf in his sight was plucked away by a hand in the next moment.

And the person lacking common decency not only didn’t flee the scene but even carried the leaf as they walked up.

...

”No one.”

The bench is sufficient for someone to lie down and sleep on, so how could Fu Qian be uncivil enough to take it all up; he immediately suggested they sit at will.

A face he’s never seen before, and he can’t even sense any Supernatural Tier.

The appearance is astonishingly exquisite, the robe is immaculately clean.

And the one sitting beside, the image is quite distinctive.

About the same height as himself, the age and even the gender couldn’t be discerned, yet they projected the beauty of both genders simultaneously.

”Professor Fu Qian?”

In high appraisal whilst fiddling with the leaf in their hand, they suddenly asked emotionlessly.

”Yes, how should I address you?”

In a chance encounter, Fu Qian exemplified scholarly amiability, and naturally nodded.

”Melia.”

”Alright, Jade Soul.”

...

”If you don’t like this name, addressing me as Master might be a bit better.”

The exchange jumped rather noticeably, and upon Fu Qian comparing jade to a plum, the person gave it a slight contemplation before proposing a new suggestion.

So it really is you.

”Alright, Master Melia.”

With the confirmation, Fu Qian is in good spirits and naturally follows along.

”As you wish, do you know why I appear here?”

”Melia” gave up the struggle over titles, changing the question instead.

”If you know, how could I not know?”

Telling the other they are wrong, asserting himself as an independent third party instead of their Heart Demon, seems obviously pointless to a stubborn sort like them.

Therefore, Fu Qian smoothly adopted the dual role, smiling as he retorted.

What else could it be?

The moment they sat down beside, the gentle breeze vanished in an instant.

Even if the leaves of the trees on the opposite side of the road continued to sway in the wind.

Take advantage when you are sick, to through this close contact, Melia clearly accelerated the repulsion of this place against him.

”Do you know why I can appear here?”

Having nothing to say about Fu Qian’s response, Melia continued asking.

”I know.”

And Fu Qian kept nodding.

The logic is equally uncomplicated; as one declines, the other rises, where materialism is rejected, idealism reigns.

On one hand, he’s being repelled, on the other, Jade Soul Master has already managed to bring people in directly out of thin air.

As for why it’s Melia?

Clearly, even though they failed with Akons, they succeeded in digesting the legacy of that Superior Being.
