Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2001: Chapter 1996: Mycelium

”Is it Emperor Luo Bu... the heavens and earth here already have their master.”

Is the essence of the Sword Pavilion actually mushrooms?

This eerie scene seemed to have stirred the Heaven’s Commencement Institute’s Temporary Leader into memories of the past, softly murmuring the name of an old acquaintance.

But residing at a high position in the Second Phase of the Transcendent, he certainly wouldn’t be easily shaken.

The next moment, Fu Qian had already turned around and picked up the short sword that left him with only one hand.

Still full of ancient elegance, the former edge long subdued, replaced by a rugged resilience — crack!

A crisp sound, with a flick of Fu Qian’s finger, the upper half of the short sword had already flown away.

”Even the variety is somewhat different.”

Imitating the previous action, bringing the remaining half of the broken sword to his nose for a sniff, Fu Qian quickly marveled again, his gaze sweeping over the remaining weapons.

”Forget it, might as well directly visit the old friend... who says Heaven’s Commencement has no way forward.”

However, he didn’t really break the remaining collection one by one, casually tossing the broken sword aside, Fu Qian didn’t spare another glance, triggering the Blood Conquest.

Everything was normal, traversing dimensions posed no problem.

But similarly, that connection hadn’t weakened either.

No surprise, it can’t possibly be more effective than warehouse shielding.

”Professor Fu, are you going to take a look inside today?”

Besides, when Fu Qian went outside to release Blood Conquest, he was quickly noticed by the Gatekeeper.

The Gatekeeper’s reaction remained as respectful as ever, as if it was the first time today seeing Fu Lao out for a stroll.

”No, thank you, there’s still some matter at the Academy.”

With a gentle smile, Fu Qian didn’t lose the courtesy of Heaven’s Commencement, thanking them before drifting away.

...

People are alive, their minds are alive, even the Supernatural Tier is fine — it’s just a bit too heavy on the senses.

In brief exchanges, conclusions were made without needing to take his head off for a sniff.

After having gone through the first two experiences, Fu Qian had gradually gotten the hang of it, easily distinguishing different fungus scents around him.

And the final conclusion was without exception.

Every plant and tree, every brick and stone, none failed to bring to mind the tangled mycelium within.

The politely greeting Gatekeeper seemed to have spores falling from their head like confetti.

No surprise, it was mentioned earlier that the ”Jade Soul Master” had numerous methods; at Akons, the power of so many Superiors even resurfaced because of him.

Now, he not only banished himself beyond the True Academy but casually pulled along several Superiors to observe, a very normal operation indeed.

It’s called a Heart Demon, never said it couldn’t be eliminated by physical means.

Bringing out a group of Superiors to beat himself to death or drive him fleeing, it’s clearly a viable win.

Overall, far superior to Yasui’s Summoning Skill, the whole process seemed like there was never an opportunity for him as an opponent to even touch him, forever darting between one temporary file and another.

And the injuries suffered in these unrealistic places remained on the body without any discount.

Of course, there’s a small issue: do the malicious Superiors also tail you in the temporary files?

Once again brushing past a few passersby, the long-awaited Heaven’s Commencement Institute loomed ahead.

And observing the winter sunshine, the architecture considered the most modern of the four departments, yet the least artistic, Fu Qian could even clearly recognize the window where Professor Luo Bu once worked by lamplight.

It’s hard to say whether this unique power really relates directly to his Fungus Sword or is merely some form of coincidence.

From this angle, there was no particularly horrifying scene visible either.

The weather was indeed quite good, still unrelated to the impending snow, at one point Fu Qian reached out, as if to touch the brilliance of the sunlight — rip!

With a casual tug, the clear sky was directly torn apart like a giant oil painting being ripped.

...

No problem, the Fungus Emperor has still followed.

Just like during Akons, accompanied by cries throughout the journey.

Facing a scene liable to drive someone with weaker willpower mad, Fu Qian wasted not a second before arriving at a conclusion.

Clearly, it’s not simple erosion or parasitism; that’s merely the surface facade, the nature of the world itself changing with the arrival of the force behind the mushrooms.

For instance, the sky behind the tear wasn’t empty.

Through the small gap, Fu Qian seemed to see countless threads of mycelium woven together in an incredible manner.

The sky isn’t empty, and all things indeed have a spirit.

Beneath a dull exterior, everything is unified, almost as if the idea called destiny flickers among the mycelium.

This is the true nature of the world, and at the core tangled in the mycelium, it seemed to be his original destination.

”It’s been days, and indeed the old friend’s Divine Skill has reached perfection.”

Yet Professor Fu was carefree, nodding in satisfaction at that moment, and even without attending to the tear, continued towards Professor Luo Bu’s laboratory.

However, at that instant, the square tiles underfoot staggered as if startled, interlocking like dominoes.

The resulting misalignment conveyed in an eerie manner to his feet above, under immensely peculiar force, Fu Qian seemed to hear the creaking of his shinbone.

And just as the step landed, a nearby streetlamp emitted a teeth-grinding metallic tear, twisting into a long-limbed hound, lunging unhesitatingly.

Such is the spirit of all things.

Casually launching an Air Bullet, Fu Qian continued on his way unhalted.

Yet astonishingly, the attack which even a Demigod must handle carefully, did nothing to hinder the hound’s actions, and in an instant, it was upon him.

At the same time, a collision appeared on Fu Qian’s body, powerful and forceful.

Is this the force of destiny just felt? Redirecting attacks onto others?

Truly fascinating — but it’s why Air Bullet was used earlier.

Finding it intriguing, before the hound’s claws and fangs reached his skin, Fu Qian initiated Blood Conquest.

Whoosh —

However, just as he passed the attacker, a gigantic sword appeared in the blood realm as if cutting through dimensions — colliding head-on with a mass of surging tentacles.

A Superior Being of the Sword Dao has been waiting for you.

Though since returning this time the Sword Pavilion was particularly peaceful, real professionals are never blindly optimistic.

Amidst these reflections, more tentacles erupted endlessly from Fu Qian.
