Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1817: Chapter 1792: Vulgarly Fearful (25)

”Are you going to wait here?”

It’s comforting to know that the intruder can actually communicate.

But after finishing the communication, this dangerous individual doesn’t leave, instead sitting there as if planning to wait for the prey.

Salma, who had been nervously watching Fu Qian, looked a bit stunned at that moment, even losing control of her volume.

Fortunately, the wooden house didn’t have great sound insulation, so Fu Qian had heard the sound of water flowing in the bathroom earlier, deducing that Salma’s mom probably hadn’t noticed the commotion here.

”Is there a problem?”

Fu Qian nodded immediately in response to her surprise, naturally asking back.

Of course, there is...

It seemed Salma wanted to say that, but ultimately lacked the courage.

”But if my mom finds out, I won’t be able to explain...”

”Isn’t your mom about to go out on a date?”

Unfortunately, the reason she gave was too weak to convince Fu Qian.

Then...

”Suit yourself, if you’re telling the truth, it’s not a bad thing after all...”

Salma’s brows were furrowed, but no matter what, her emotions were calmer than before. After a flicker of her gaze, she finally sighed resignedly.

”So what exactly is the conflict between you two? From my perspective, Wen seems pretty serious about you.”

As things progressed smoothly, Fu Qian felt more at ease and casually asked, almost conversationally.

”He’s too irritable, it’s exhausting to be with him. If you’re his friend, you should know that.”

The conversation surprisingly turned to the topic of emotions. Salma looked at Fu Qian as if he were a freak, but she seemed much calmer.

”Is that so? I think he’s easy to talk to.”

Recalling the old house trip, Fu Qian did not agree.

...

”Do you want some water? My mom takes her time showering.”

Though she spoke of a falling-out, Fu Qian’s supportive attitude on the matter made Salma unsure of what to say. After some hesitation, she suddenly asked.

”Don’t worry, I’m not going to call the police, I’m just a bit thirsty.”

Seeing Fu Qian looking over expressionlessly, Salma instinctively tried to prove her innocence.

It’s not unusual; in such a tense situation with ups and downs, people naturally want to drink something.

”Alright, thank you. And it’s fine if you report it to the police.”

The situation became somewhat bizarre as Fu Qian observed Salma combing her hair with her hands and ultimately accepted the suggestion.

Though the added note made Salma catch her breath.

”...It’ll be quick.”

Salma hesitated to explain further, finally opening the door and walking out quietly.

With just a glance when the door opened, Fu Qian almost confirmed the layout of the house, even noticing clothes left in the living room.

In color and style, they clearly didn’t belong to Salma.

Salma’s friend’s mother had quite a free-spirited style.

Of course, the more important meaning of this discovery was that it almost confirmed that only the mother and daughter lived in this house, which is why they were so unguarded.

...

”Here you go.”

Salma’s returning footsteps were even lighter, and she wore a unique complex expression when poking her head in through the door, as if she hadn’t seen the ideal scenario, like the uninvited guest already being gone.

But facing reality, she still casually sighed and handed over a glass of water, while also taking a sip from another glass she held.

”Thanks, didn’t spit in it when you had the chance, did you?”

Casually taking the glass, Fu Qian thanked her while examining the transparent glass cup.

”...How could I!”

At that moment, Salma almost choked on her water, patting her chest as her cheeks flushed red, which only made her look more youthful.

”Just kidding... the purification system is pretty good.”

Observing her reaction closely, the next moment Fu Qian took a big sip and even gave a positive remark.

”My mom’s boyfriend helped with it... and it’s not the one she’s meeting tonight.”

Salma’s expression was a bit complex, and her answer somewhat confirmed previous guesses about the family situation.

”Mr. Wolf, still thirsty? Want my glass?”

The next moment, as Fu Qian uncharacteristically didn’t comment, Salma, meeting his gaze, suddenly offered her own cup.

Even though the water in the other glass hadn’t been finished.

...

”Sure.”

Faced with Salma’s enthusiastic hospitality, Fu Qian’s gaze lingered on her face, and after a few seconds, he really took it.

The next moment, putting the glass aside, he drank it all in one go.

”Thank you for not minding.”

Watching Fu Qian’s actions, Salma’s residual fear vanished, her tone even changing a bit.

”You were right, Wen wasn’t that irritable, especially recently.”

Receiving the empty glass from Fu Qian, Salma toyed with it and even smiled as she sat on the bed opposite.

”It’s just unfortunate, on one certain day, I realized the True Self, and so have more and more people, right, Mr. Wolf?”

Crossing her legs and attempting to balance the cup on top, Salma’s slight annoyance surfaced when it slipped off.

”By the way, you know, I never doubted you were his friend because Wen mentioned the name to me, but he clearly didn’t have a positive evaluation of you...

Still, after listening, I was quite curious about your bizarre behavior as described. I didn’t expect to see it today, and I must say you’re very special... So, how does the spit taste?”

...

Unfortunately, normally healthy saliva has no taste, and it’s clear you weren’t attentive in biology class.

Also, I’m sorry, but I can’t confirm if your saliva is healthy.

Facing the suddenly transformed Salma, Fu Qian continued to stare intently, while mentally noting.

Although currently lacking Extraordinary Power, a little table trick was still manageable, especially when wearing thick clothes in cold weather.

No matter which glass of water, not a drop actually went down my throat.

As for why there’s such caution towards a gentle high school girl, it partly results from professional habit. Her reasoning was still somewhat flimsy.

On the other hand, the earlier ”waiting for the prey” was just a casual remark.

The purpose of staying here was to apply pressure on Salma, thus increasing the probability of her showing an unusual side.

The fact is, she really does have that side.

Drugging me with spit? On the surface, whoever consumes her saliva should immediately develop a special infatuation.

Presumably, this is why she’s been so popular lately... just as Eva’s notes mentioned.
