Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1248: Chapter 1246 Staring Contest

So that’s how it is.

Looking out the window, there really was a black carriage, standing quietly in the courtyard.

Including the two horses in front, only an occasional snorting sound could be heard.

If the belief in chaotic skies still holds, the scene described by Amila can only be described as a Nightmare.

These twelve gentlemen should be able to verify without much effort which is real and which is false.

The one with a splitting headache, yearning for a peaceful sleep, also perfectly matches up.

…

Of course, yearning is useless-after another traverse, Amila and her companion led Fu Qian into an open ward, pausing for a few seconds in front of an empty bed.

“Was there supposed to be someone here?”

Seeing the freshly stained blood on the bed, it wasn’t hard for Fu Qian to guess why the two reacted this way.

“Most of the time, yes, and that person was the one who brought us here.”

Amila slowly nodded.

“He was the most severe case among everyone. In the first week, he even forced himself to stay awake until he finally had no choice but to change tactics.”

“Understandable, so what’s the situation now? Has he changed wards?”

Fu Qian was very pleased with this direct approach.

“Why couldn’t it be that his condition worsened and he died?”

Reginald suddenly interjected.

“The answer isn’t a personal opinion, we are all still here.”

Although the other party couldn’t see his expression, Fu Qian still showed contempt.

“As the sharer of the Dream, if the source disappears, it shouldn’t have no impact on our actions, right?”

“Speaking of which, aren’t you being too slack in your duties? As experienced professionals, you should know this well, yet here we are playing a question and answer game, wasting time?”

Having completed his answer, Fu Qian expressed his unfinished sentiments with a stern tone.

“Haven’t you thought about the potential harm caused by the evil infiltration during this wasted time? Who will be responsible for the innocents who get hurt?”

His words were so powerfully decisive that the slacking duo was profoundly shaken, and even Amila couldn’t help but glance at Reginald.

This unexpected sharpness is one thing, but what is going on with this work attitude?

He was clearly requested to cooperate with the action, not only showing no fear or hesitation, but he ended up being more active than us—he might really not feel fear.

Amila sighed internally upon realizing something.

This actually precisely indicates that he wasn’t lying; the only thing that could help him maintain this attitude is treating everything as an entertaining Nightmare.

For a moment, it’s hard to say whether this is good or bad.

“He might’ve gone to receive special treatment due to severe symptoms, we better go check quickly.”

The next moment, Amila took the initiative to speak, ignoring the difficult questions asked earlier, and proposed a guess and plan of action.

This treatment isn’t special enough?

Still, her phrasing left Fu Qian internally complaining.

Of course, in the end, he didn’t mind the overly blunt progression.

“What are we waiting for? Every minute we delay, innocent people are under increasing threat of harm.”

With that solemn statement, Fu Qian directly signaled Amila to lead the way.

“The pool is on the lowest floor, follow me this way.”

Despite feeling the bizarreness of the scene, Amila quickly adjusted her mood and took the lead as Reginald made no comment.

Following the beautifully carved wooden staircase downwards, the three quickly crossed the horizon and reached the darker lower levels.

Besides the noticeably muddled air, the most prominent feature here was a sudden drop in temperature, with even thin white fog drifting in the corridors.

Amila didn’t stop, continuing toward the direction where the fog was thicker and eventually stopped in front of a green iron door.

The iron door was quite thick but was ajar.

A deeply infectious groan of pain clearly emanated from the crack.

Amila, bold and direct, didn’t stop her steps and pushed the door open.

In the slightly grating noise, the scene behind the door appeared before them.

She clearly hadn’t lied; there indeed was a pool downstairs, albeit slightly smaller in size, just larger than a double bed, with cold wind and ice fog swirling above.

In the midst of the mist, a head with long hair was notably visible, identifying the sharer of the Nightmare.

The main character found, but the only problem was that there were clearly more than this person in the room.

Three men and two women, holding various instruments, who were initially watching next to the pool, undoubtedly attracted by the noise of the door, all turned their heads in unison.

…

This attention seemed completely expected by Amila, who not only did not hide but even reached out to take off and flip her mask.

The next moment the mask was actually worn backwards on her face, its spiral design staring back at her own eyes.

“Go rest. I’ll handle things here.”

After displaying this eerie form, Amila softly said to the five people.

This statement seemed to carry a bizarre Magic Power, as the vigilance and confusion of the five people instantly dissipated. They silently put down their items and lined up to walk out from the iron door, leaving the room much more empty.

Wearing the mask backwards seemed to have completely reversed its effect too.

Fu Qian observed the whole process and once again marveled at the professionalism of the Celestial Sphere Sect.

Unlike the original effect of diminishing her presence, Amila now seemed like a spotlight converging, her every word and action wielding significant control over the Nightmare characters, directly making them give up on the patient.

Fortunately, as an active member of the new consultation team, Fu Qian, aside from his admiration, naturally stepped forward to attend to this lover of leather pants and his upcoming treatment.

Compared to outside, this person’s condition indeed appeared much more distressing.

Submerged in an ice-cold pool, he was stark naked.

Despite his tightly closed eyes, the painful groans and his twisting body fully indicated his awareness, which fully received the current affliction.

Regrettably, the not-so-strong body was fixed in the pool on a rack with iron chains wrapped around, exposing only his head, which hardly allowed for any major movements.

This enforced backstroke pose, the reason being—right where his ears met the water surface, lay a flat-bodied creature about ten or so centimeters long, from its color and distinct segments, it seemed to be an overly engorged leech.

Looking further down, numerous of its kind, at least dozens, alarmingly crawled all over his naked body.

Given their sluggish movements, any random movement from him could easily shake them off.

“This place has collected a special type of Bloodsucking Parasite, specially for cases with excessively severe symptoms.”

By this time, Amila had also come closer, even taking off her mask, and sighed softly.
