Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1233: Chapter 1231: Old School Psychological Counseling

It’s spot on, look at the orderliness of their society; they even have victim counseling services.

The gap in urban and rural construction is still too vast!

Upon learning the new police member’s intention, Fu Qian immediately felt a surge of admiration in his heart.

Of course, he wouldn’t simply regard the other party as just a psychological counselor.

Compared to others, this person before him had a distinctly different presence.

The most obvious difference was the classic, tailored black coat, and atop this individual’s shoulders was an additional, special shawl.

It was not only exquisitely delicate but also entirely adorned with gold thread, appearing sacred and noble, beyond ordinary.

Moreover, including the veteran police officer, everyone present obviously held her in high esteem, even to the point of subtly maintaining a distance.

“Very well.”

Fu Qian mirrored this sense of detachment, nodding slightly in response to the gentle, piercing gaze of dark eyes.

“Good, you can call me Amila.”

The psychological counselor seemed satisfied with his reaction.

This response wasn’t just about facial expressions and tone; although it was just a few seconds of scrutiny, Fu Qian clearly knew that any abnormality in any part of his body was within the other’s observation.

It was a kind of sensing akin to the Transcendent realm.

Too bad she was facing a true professional, an expert in Flesh Power, and Fu Qian believed he could flawlessly imitate even the pallor of not having eaten for several days.

“Let’s go first.”

Nodding slightly to the veteran police officer, Amila led Fu Qian to one side, where a double-axled carriage had already been waiting.

…

The scenery, the attire, the mode of travel, save for the somewhat odd firearms, didn’t seem too out of place compared to the World Within the Painting he had experienced.

Of course, the atmosphere was much better; not only was there no pollution discoloration festering in the streets, it even seemed like a joyous weekend.

This was the vibe of the Ideal Realm, full of blessings. The question is, could such a place really exist?

In the slightly bumpy carriage, Fu Qian sat opposite to the calmly seated Amila, refraining from asking that violent question.

Although he was quite certain the one-minute limit of the Dream wouldn’t greatly affect his questioning.

However, on one hand, he didn’t want to disturb anything rashly without understanding her background and intentions first.

On the other hand, he believed Amila would give him a chance to ask questions later.

“Don’t overthink it; you need to calm yourself down.”

Clearly noticing his gaze, Amila smiled unconcernedly and reassured him with a unique intonation.

Her voice was tranquil and composed, more so like a Nun than a psychologist, as indeed she seemed to be.

The next moment the carriage stopped smoothly, and without another word, Amila stood up and opened the door.

And beyond her shoulder, one could clearly see a majestic building outside with golden hues.

The arched portico and the clean lines at the top, at first glance, seemed somewhat similar to the art gallery they had just left.

Of course, it wasn’t another art gallery, but it definitely wasn’t a police station either.

In any era, such sights are only associated with faith.

“Let’s go.”

Amila, who had stepped out first, turned and looked back at Fu Qian; the golden building behind her and her shining shawl gave her the appearance of a Saint leading the lambs of the world.

…

I knew she would provide an opportunity cooperatively.

“Why have we come here?”

In this context, Fu Qian asked smoothly, of course, he didn’t commit the discourtesy of questioning on the carriage, but waited until he got off and walked alongside Amila.

The devil that wastes time always exists in the details.

“Naturally, this place is most conducive to calming you down.”

The latter indeed did not stop, but while walking gave a reason.

“Besides, someone is very interested in your story from another world and wishes to have a good conversation with you.”

Is there another expert?

Fu Qian looked around thoughtfully.

The two of them had already walked into the interior of this grand building of faith, where designs similar to those on Amila’s shoulders could be seen everywhere, and there were quite a number of people as well.

Of course, these were not the focus.

Upon entering, Fu Qian immediately noticed a peculiar sight—the stars could be clearly seen in the sky through the stained glass windows next to him.

It was clearly daytime, the Sun’s position and intensity remained the same, but the twinkling stars were in no way obscured.

This utterly unreasonable scene made one unable to help but think of the one-minute limitation of a dream.

If that kind of power in the style of a rule was truly in the hands of the religious organization before him, then the forthcoming conversation was certainly worth looking forward to.

“Alright.”

The next moment, Fu Qian readily took a deep breath, preparing himself to meet the expert.

…

“Please take a seat inside, and wait for a moment.”

Amila clearly knew her way around very well, quickly leading Fu Qian in front of a door and signaling for him to enter first.

Behind the opened wooden door, a narrow space could be seen, without any windows and dim lighting, but at least the air was not too stuffy.

A confessional room? Isn’t this method of psychological counseling a bit too old-fashioned?

The excessively classic design successfully provoked Fu Qian’s inner commentary.

However, he didn’t mind it and promptly stepped forward to sit on the only chair available.

Unsurprisingly, there was a grille the size of a human head on the wall opposite his seat.

And through the light coming from there, one could tell that it was much brighter on the other side, obviously there were windows.

“Okay Anke, let’s begin.”

Amila’s voice came through without making Fu Qian wait for too long.

Even through the grille in the wall, he could see her sitting sideways and still, in a standard listening posture.

Compared to her appearance outside, her face now sported an equally luxurious gold wire mask, covering everything above her nose, full of a mysterious aura.

“First, I must explain to you, as I mentioned earlier, besides myself, there is another listener who is very interested in your experiences.”

“But you don’t need to worry, we will keep all the content you share strictly confidential.”

No need to worry, but no right to refuse, huh?

“…Thank you.”

Fu Qian was always precise in identifying what mattered, and after hesitating for exactly one and a half seconds, he gave a response that reflected complex emotions.

As for the other listener mentioned by Amila, he was, of course, quite aware of them.

In the direction Amila was facing, a figure stood silently, facing directly towards him.

Even though that should be a blind spot visually, the partition in front of him didn’t seem to pose any obstruction.

Of course, she probably didn’t know that the same was true for him.

“Very good, from what we’ve learned, you’ve had some very unique experiences recently.”

Reassuringly, Amila clearly trusted the judgment of the officers and did not waste time verifying personal details, getting straight to the point.

“Can you tell us where you went during the five days you disappeared?”
