Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1241: Chapter 1239: Lead Flame

What a killing machine!

Watching the metallic flame wrap around, it seemed as though the shape of the long sword itself was constantly leaping, and Fu Qian couldn’t help but admire.

This move was even more obvious; it was similar to Amila’s, the legendary “Star Law”.

Indeed, each member of The Sect has their own strengths, and it seems that her insights are entirely prepped for assassination.

As for killing or hunting, enchantments on blade oil are not uncommon, but in Fu Qian’s view, this peculiarly striking flame must be more than just burning.

At this moment, though silent, the continuous actions of the Cult Hunter undoubtedly exerted immense pressure.

As a direct consequence, the robed woman beside her turned deathly pale, no longer bothering to discuss logical fallacies with Fu Qian, fixating instead on the Cult Hunter’s Death God strides.

“Who are you? What do you want? Did you cause all this?”

Yet, she consistently opened with a barrage of rapid-fire questions.

Unfortunately, not everyone is as approachable as Fu Qian.

In response to the lady, came a long, narrow blade strike that spanned over five meters, aimed right at her forehead, complete with an odd sense of flowing movement.

The Hunter’s actions are so decisive that he didn’t even bother to notify Fu Qian nearby, completely indifferent to the possibility of causing collateral damage.

Luckily, as a practitioner of the arts, Fu Qian had been very particular about maintaining a distance from the robed woman.

And that specific standard of distance meant ensuring that in most cases, he wouldn’t be splattered with blood.

…

As it turned out, the Hunter was both cold-hearted and dependable.

The slash that seemed able to tear through everything was perfectly measured, simply grazing past and dazzling to the eye.

“Have you gone mad?”

The woman in the robe screamed, and when she reappeared, she was several meters away.

“My name is Harriet. You’re a Hunter from The Sect? To think you’d go so far as to strike at innocent civilians?”

Big sister, aren’t you a little too engrossed in your role?

Seeing her persist with a barrage of questions, Fu Qian sighed internally.

No matter how you look at it, her evasion from that blade just now is far from what you’d expect an innocent civilian to pull off.

Of course, it might just be a lack of habituation.

Perhaps she indeed was an innocent civilian who has recently undergone a change?

Mocking aside, Fu Qian still practiced the self-cultivation of a spectator, politely remaining silent.

But the robed woman Harriet had no more time for words, as the Cult Hunter’s relentless blade provided no respite, in a do-or-die attitude.

If it weren’t for a method of evasion that completely defied common sense, even physics, she would have likely already fallen to the sword.

Even so, the relentless pursuit pushed her dodging to its limit.

With a fearless lunge from the Hunter, Harriet’s arm was finally solidly struck.

Bang!

The heavy sound of an explosion echoed, and Harriet’s figure was catapulted like being hit by a shell, smashing through several windows of shops lining the street.

Could it really be like wielding a mass of molten lead?

This hammer-like scene piqued Fu Qian’s interest.

As an onlooker, he naturally could see more details, the sense of motion of the long sword changed along with the moment it struck the body.

Like finding an outlet for an explosion, it burst forth with an immensely heavy impact.

But contrary to this, the chopping chase in front remained extremely nimble and ruthless, completely unaffected by the terrifying mass.

The dictates brought about by this starry sky truly surpass common sense in many ways, defying all logic.

And as the strike succeeded, the Cult Hunter’s march toward death did not pause for an instant; he plunged directly into the messy shadows.

The moment the unique sound of gunfire rang out again, bright electrical arcs flickered, with the shooter maintaining his habit of clearing the way with his gun.

And that same flash of light also illuminated his figure being flung backward.

The Hunter’s body had not even hit the ground when he suffered the same fate as his prey, something sweeping him aside, crashing him through an archway behind, bricks and stones flying.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye, but this Hunter seemed unaffected and quickly burst forth, charging this way.

…

I said there was no need to follow and watch.

Witnessing this scene, Fu Qian felt quite satisfied.

The Hunter was chasing this way for a simple reason; as he was flung backward, a blood-stained figure had already leaped out from the shattered display window, heading in this direction first.

However, compared to the Hunter, Harriet looked much more miserable.

The blade that had struck her arm carried an incredible force, shattering the sleeve and the flesh of her entire right arm, leaving her stark white bones gruesomely visible.

Yet what would be a fatal wound for an ordinary person hardly slowed her down; she still charged swiftly towards Fu Qian, almost as if she were flying.

Indeed, it seemed like she was flying.

The sudden increase in speed fluttered the hem of her large cloak.

Under the starlight, it was clear to see that her bare legs were not only still, but they weren’t even touching the ground.

Accompanied by a somewhat strange angle of her body, it was as if someone was holding her from behind, darting and flitting about, dodging attacks.

Even now, she seemed to be casting herself into his embrace.

…

Fu Qian did not move, because he was quite aware of what Harriet intended to do.

What happened just now was actually quite simple; the Cult Hunter lured him over, then locked on his target and launched a sudden assault, only he didn’t subdue his target in one hit, instead getting trapped by the counterattack.

During this time gap, his prey played the part of an innocent bystander rudely awoken, slipping out from the adjacent building.

Just as Fu Qian had immediately seen through Harriet’s disguise, he knew right away what the purpose of this act was.

Clearly, this special hunting dimension isn’t so easy to break through, otherwise, she would have long since fled the scene.

Caught off-guard in a perilous situation, with a formidable enemy in hot pursuit, there weren’t many tactics available; taking a hostage was surely a strategy worth considering.

Especially since, albeit somewhat incomprehensible, there truly was an innocent bystander who had wandered into this hunting ground.

Her only purpose in speaking to him at such close quarters just now was to assess the danger and the degree of his innocence.

And as a gentleman partaking in benevolence, he played his part with naïve purity.

Therefore, the ultimate result was, even if the two of them fought viciously, as long as one of them didn’t die on the spot, it was highly likely they would return.

“Stay back, or he’s dead for sure!”

Amidst contemplation, a chilling blade had already pressed against the neck.

Harriet, with her uninjured hand, made a somewhat improper hostage-taking gesture, coldly staring at the pursuing Hunter.

Apart from the posture no longer being disguised, even her voice had become enchanting, with a suppressed panting as if emanating from her throat.
