Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1249: Chapter 1247: Consultation Results

“How should we deal with it?”

In the room, only an incoherent patient remained, so there indeed seemed no need to continue wearing masks.

Upon seeing this, Fu Qian also took off his mask and observed carefully.

“In severe cases of Blood Fever, the temperature difference across the patient’s body surface isn’t that distinct, so it first needs to be brought here to cool down.”

Amila just glanced at his actions without any objection and continued sharing this eerie medical technique.

“Considering the number of Blood Beads that need to be cleared, relying on manpower to find them has already become extremely challenging, so they came up with this method.”

“These Bloodsucking Parasites aren’t particularly afraid of low temperatures; they can still move even in ice water, and their thermotactic behavior persists. Thus, once the patient is immersed in the pool, the drop in body temperature makes the Blood Beads even more attractive to them.”

“That’s quite a good idea.”

Fu Qian listened carefully and did not skimp on the praise.

It indeed seems there are more solutions than difficulties.

The probability of Amila pretending to know was very small, because, at this moment, Fu Qian had already noticed a leech’s body convulsing, and then swiftly swelling up.

Puff!

Accompanied by a faint burst sound, the leech’s round abdomen finally couldn’t bear the burden and burst open a gap.

There wasn’t an excessively thick blood color appearing because, at the same time, its body turned charred.

“Let’s get him out of there first.”

Lord Reginald, who was also by his side, directly issued the order, his mask indeed already removed.

And before his voice fell, the sound of chains came.

The patient, along with the metal frame beneath him, gradually rose from the water.

…

“This thing can be lifted.”

Fu Qian released the hand crank and signaled to the two people looking over.

“Just now, seeing that he wasn’t doing too well, I looked around.”

His remarks were impeccable; the patient wasn’t exactly robust to begin with, draped with so many bloodletting tools, one misstep could quickly turn him bone dry.

The team of five medical workers present earlier wasn’t there for nothing; the treatment itself is based on an extremely fragile balance.

Then the new consulting team, simply chatted for a while.

“Get the worms down.”

The laborer, showing so much initiative, left Lord Reginald momentarily unsure how to remark, expressionlessly giving the next instruction.

Most of the leeches had already sucked blood, their bodies significantly swollen; neither their appearance nor touch was pleasant.

Fu Qian commented while throwing one plump leech back into the pool.

For him, such an impact truly amounted to nothing; in fact, when he first heard of this therapy years ago, he even imagined how it would feel.

His operation at this moment could be described as flawless, not only was he efficient in handling both sides, but he also avoided tearing the wounds as much as possible.

In just a few minutes, the patient was hanging half-naked in mid-air, his skin frighteningly pale, with hardly any blood seeping from the wounds.

However, Fu Qian was not worried about the patient freezing to death, because a few seconds later, the patient’s body surface started getting scorching hot in more than one place.

Clearly, due to the lack of professional medical guidance, the “Blood Fever” was not thoroughly removed.

The good thing is, the illness that originally tortured him now saved him from a freeze-dried fate.

“So what do you think, Anke?”

Being mostly unable to contribute at the end, Lord Reginald took a deep breath and chose to consult Fu Qian’s opinion, following the usual procedure.

“It’s a bit severe.”

This prototypically pedagogical inquiry was entirely anticipated, and Fu Qian, who had been supporting his chin and observing samples, almost instantly provided an answer.

“Why are you so sure?”

The assertiveness in this positive diagnosis was so sharp that even Amila couldn’t help herself.

“A professional exorcist must dare to make judgments.”

Fu Qian shook his head, pointing at the patient’s slightly protruding abdomen.

“Although in the nightmare the body’s functions aren’t logical, aren’t these intestinal movements too fast and too fierce?”

“Lord Reginald once said to observe deeply based on superficial signs, I think the depth of the abdominal cavity should be deep enough.”

“… Are you saying there’s something inside the belly? A bloodsucking parasite burrowed in?”

As the referenced person, Reginald had no choice but to express an opinion.

“Hard to say, after all, there’s no specific test report.”

Fu Qian continued to shake his head.

“However, the navel looks intact, it might be parasites generated by the body itself. Anyway, this is my preliminary diagnosis, I’ll leave the rest to you two.”

Not monopolizing the conversation, Fu Qian chose to hand the opportunity to speak back to the other consulting experts.

“You don’t have any issues?”

Surprisingly, Lord Reginald’s first statement sounded like a personal attack.

Because when he said it, his eyes were sizing up not the patient but Fu Qian.

“Not at all, I’m very well!”

However, Expert Fu showed considerable composure, not only did he not get angry, but he even raised his hand to show off his body.

…

Genuinely following Fu Qian’s movements, after observing him for a long time, Reginald finally glanced at Amila, who had reacted similarly, and they exchanged looks.

“It seems our job here might end sooner than expected.”

The latter took a deep breath and concluded the consultation.

“I agree with Anke’s judgment, something has already truly infected him, we must purify it; otherwise, once this guy awakes into the real world, it might trouble the Cult Hunter again.”

“Of course, even if our actions succeed, he is likely to awaken and the patrol might be interrupted prematurely.”

Troubling the Cult Hunter, does it imply physical purification in the real world?

Amila’s statement naturally reminded one of Harriet from not long ago.

“Anke, can you help me open his abdomen?”

At this time, Amila made a new request, which of course didn’t sound mandatory.

Perhaps considering that even in a dream, it’s still a bit drastic.

“Sure.”

However, the volunteer displayed invincible initiative, and as he spoke, the first cut was already made.

The small sharp instrument, naturally left by the medical staff, but Fu Qian used it so adeptly, it really made one wonder if he had been eager to try it out.

Even the craftsmanship was quite impressive.

Swinging the blade back and forth with flair, skin, fat, fascia, muscle… layer by layer of tissue was neatly opened up.

Adding on the pain endured previously, the person was clearly in a blurred consciousness, hardly reacting after the first cut.

The next moment, inside the displayed cavity, one could see leech-like flatworms of various colors, apparently differentiated from different body tissues, tightly entwined together.

Their unifying characteristic was emitting astonishing heat, and it was still rising.

“Indeed, it’s not just parasites burrowing into the body…”

Amidst her shock, Amila still didn’t forget to grit her teeth and explain.

“Besides blood boiling disease, the peripheral information in the nightmare has already affected him, his entire form of existence has been corrupted.”

“Once he awakens, there’s a chance that this corruption will carry over into reality.”
