Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 799: Chapter 797: Brain Erosion (Complete)_1 Chapter 799: Chapter 797: Brain Erosion (Complete)_1 Theoretically, it would have been more correct for Hushima Zhigui to take the test, but given his previous display of “omniscience,” Fu Qian ultimately chose Rosetta.

After all, this world isn’t that interesting; sending them off sooner isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Currently, he still had two bottles of tranquilizer left, which needed to be given to three people.

That’s right, even if the world collapsed toward Kelly’s cognition, Fu Qian did not exclude her.

Who says the mentally ill can’t be doctors?

And what remained was to pick two people from the group and have them drink the tranquilizer in sequence.

The first one Fu Qian chose was Kelly.

The previous test’s significance was not simply about blindly getting another one right.

Fu Qian began to ponder a question: What was the “reason” behind the containment requirements that demanded the sequence be followed?

Or in other words, what adverse effects would there be if the sequence wasn’t followed?

…

“Why… why?”

Kelly was clearly unwilling to accept this turn of events.

“I’ve never believed in the notion of the Child of Destiny.”

Faced with her incomprehension, Fu Qian shook his head with a smile.

“A five percent chance happening just like that, I don’t believe in it too much. If it were sixty percent, that would be more reasonable.”

“What… what…”

Kelly clearly didn’t understand, but Fu Qian was not planning to explain anymore.

The next moment, the red liquid converged into a line, pouring into her pried-open jaw.

“In the midst of a restless unknown, we’ve moved one step closer to the correct answer.”

As he laid the unconscious Kelly on the ground, Fu Qian held the empty bottle, seemingly both pensive and melancholic.

The two probabilities just mentioned are very straightforward.

Giving Nancy and Rosetta the tranquilizer earlier was undoubtedly done without any clue to the pattern.

In a purely random situation, picking two people out of five in the correct order only has a five percent chance of success.

As previously stated, Fu Qian never believed in the Child of Destiny notion; probabilities are always something to be respected.

Rather than believing in a one in twenty chance event occurring, he was more inclined to believe in another possibility—that the correct sequence wasn’t so strict and it was only necessary to avoid the one person who wasn’t supposed to drink the tranquilizer.

To put it simply, among these five people, there’s one who must not drink the tranquilizer as it would trigger grave consequences; that’s the reason the task required following a “sequence.”

So, there’s only one principle for the order among the five: that person should be last, the others should finish drinking, and he should not.

Following this logic, if he randomly picked two people without choosing “him,” his chance would be sixty percent.

Fu Qian obviously favored this number more.

Of course, now it was forty percent, having just gone through another selection of three, leaving only one bottle.

The reason for choosing Kelly directly was straightforward—Fu Qian suspected that the special character was Sam.

…

Since the beginning, this world was clearly fantastical, most likely not truly existing.

As for dream and hallucination-like experiences, Fu Qian now saw himself as half an expert.

For example, taking the often-used Clear Dream Ring, if the characters inside were to be categorized, then Fu Qian himself would be akin to an Observer’s existence.

Understanding the big picture, guiding change, just like Nancy and Kelly in this scenario.

At the same time, a dream would certainly have a sustaining subject, which is the person tied to the dream’s end rule.

Among the remaining people, Fu Qian believed Hushima Guizhi was that role.

The basis for this judgment was his unbelievably meticulous cognition of all things; he was undoubtedly the most “this is my dream” sort of person.

That’s also why Fu Qian subconsciously put him at the end.

Before the others had finished drinking, maximizing dream stability, was a necessary caution that Fu Qian believed in.

Apart from these individuals, the remaining Sam appeared to be very special.

Aware of nothing, yet quick to respond.

Just like previously said, he was very much like a “radar.”

This connects to the question that came to mind earlier: what risks come with a wrong order?

“`

From his extensive experience, Fu Qian did not tend to believe that an ordinary Mortal’s dream could generate any crisis that concerned the warehouse.

In other words, the risk was most likely coming from outside.

And the concept of radar was just too easily associated with an external source.

Fu Qian’s guess was that Sam himself might be similar to an alarm trigger.

And in this dream, there was a possibility that this could trigger his alarm, causing a severe reaction from the outside world.

Therefore, he had to be extremely careful, using Tranquilizers to disperse the crowd, and ultimately prevent the alarm from being triggered; that was the true purpose of the warehouse sending him in.

Considering all this, Fu Qian made his bold guess and then achieved a good result in his scenario unraveling.

Now, it came to the last step, a choice between two options.

Like Russian roulette, there was only one bullet in the chamber, and the trigger had already been pulled three times.

Success was just one step away, but the danger had also increased manifold.

Ignoring Sam’s brother, Fu Qian found the key from Kelly’s pocket and went straight downstairs.

Allowing the radar to shatter with the natural unraveling of the dream seemed to Fu Qian the most logical course of action.

…

Still busy?

When he arrived at Hushima Zhigui’s residence and knocked on the door, Fu Qian got no response this time.

At the same time, Fu Qian smelled a peculiar scent.

Could it be that he was planning to self-immolate with candle wax?

Between his musings, Fu Qian used a piece of wire and some tools he found along the way to pick the lock and solve the anti-theft chain issue.

The next moment, the scene that lay before his eyes was breathtaking.

Hushima Zhigui was facing away from the door, slowly submerging his face into a dark red liquid.

And the scent Fu Qian had detected was emanating from it.

No wonder he needed as much as ten pounds, it seemed he had melted all the candles and made a pot of wax.

Fortunately, there were those low-temperature candles; otherwise, his condition would be worrying.

Even so, when Hushima Zhigui raised his face again, the edges of the wax liquid had turned a scalding red.

And his entire head was now enveloped in the dark red wax.

A hard man.

“Can you hear me talking?”

Fu Qian approached to help the struggling Hushima Zhigui pull a piece away from his nose and mouth as he casually inquired.

“I can…”

Hushima Zhigui replied with difficulty, having just freed himself from suffocation.

“So, you want to block your eyes and ears? Is that thing really that terrifying?”

“Very terrifying…”

Hushima Zhigui breathed heavily.

“But I’m much better now; I can hardly hear anything.”

Really? But aren’t you still listening to me speak?

As he quietly made his witty comment, Fu Qian took the last bottle of Tranquilizer.

“Drink it; you’ll feel even better.”

…

Hushima Zhigui seemed much slower to react, but the lure of “feeling better” was clearly mighty.

A few seconds later, he groped for the bottle of Tranquilizer and downed it in one go.

In an instant, his body slumped softly and toppled into the scalding wax liquid.

But, ultimately, he avoided being recooked.

For before his body hit the floor, everything in front of him shattered like a bubble.

At the same time, a satisfying prompt followed.
