Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 755: Chapter 753: The Curse of Shattering (Twelve)_1 Chapter 755: Chapter 753: The Curse of Shattering (Twelve)_1 Ruined walls and broken battlements, green moss over dark dust.

Within the dilapidated remains, a deep but not overly thick scent of mold penetrated to the heart.

However, this paled in comparison to the sight of a beautiful young girl, her gaze soft and contemplative, her words filled with admiration.

Of course, that was the perspective of mortals.

Fu Qian glanced ahead and spotted Jian Jingzheng and a Ms. Chang, an Academy Instructor, looking back at him with an unmistakably nervous demeanor.

It was only natural.

From a normal standpoint, Ji Liushuang’s posture was not hard to understand.

For a young person devoted to Sword Dao, with a demigod in close proximity, nervousness and admiration were inevitable.

And in such a situation, whatever he said, Ji Liushuang would likely take his words with high credibility.

Considering that both from the Swordsmanship Department had obvious prejudices against him, their nervousness was probably born from the fear that he might lead the child astray.

Speaking of which, after Li Weixuan had explicitly stated that the Kamakura Family’s Sword Dao was unorthodox, they had still chosen to come along with the team—could their main mission be to watch over the child?

“It’s nothing but some general summaries.”

The next moment, facing Ji Liushuang’s natural yet deliberate attempt to strike up a conversation, Fu Qian, as a Sword Demon, responded in a tone much gentler, much like Cass’s.

“Although it seems reasonable, without the support of meticulous realization, even if you hear and take note of it, it won’t be of much help in itself.”

Um…

Ji Liushuang seemed surprised by Fu Qian’s response, hesitating for a moment before nodding earnestly.

“I understand what you mean, knowing and comprehending are completely different things.”

“But still, I want to express my gratitude, because for me, this is still very helpful.”

Her tone was full of conviction.

“Perhaps I can’t fully grasp it now, but this broad summary does point me in the right direction to a certain extent, which is very important.”

Indeed, as a tightly embraced genius from the Swordsmanship Department, her insight was remarkable.

“You… you’re very good.”

Although Fu Qian was reserved about Ji Liushuang’s motives for approaching him, he did not hide his admiration for her words.

Although what he had said earlier was nonsense, it essentially conformed to the universal rules of a philosophical type.

And Ji Liushuang’s ability to express such a perspective showed that she hadn’t turned all her brains into muscle.

In the corner of his eye, Jian Jingzheng and his counterpart wore visibly astonished expressions.

After all, in their view, this man was arrogantly disdainful of others and they had been worried he might be a negative influence on Ji Liushuang.

Now, the fact that he could concede that his words were of little meaning was quite unexpected.

At the same time, Ji Liushuang’s response showed that she was not blindly worshipping him but steadfast in her own critical thinking, which too, was a good sign.

However, this led to a rather pleasant conversation between the two, with Ji Liushuang clearly eager to seek further guidance—it might have been better if she had been sent away directly!

Having been reassured for barely a second, Jian Jingzheng and his colleague tensed up again.

“In your opinion, what was this place originally?”

Ji Liushuang seemed not to have considered much, naturally walking beside Fu Qian, speaking softly to engage in conversation.

“Although the Kamakura Family claims to be Tomb Guardians, I somehow don’t think this quite resembles a tomb.”

“It might have once been some kind of temple, but with the current situation, calling it a tomb isn’t really an issue.”

Fu Qian responded casually.

This wasn’t mere speculation. Since the entrance, as they had walked through, though carved out from within a mountain, faintly discernible were the porch, hall, sanctuary walls, and deeper inside, a labyrinth of corridors and quiet chambers.

Just now, Fu Qian and his group had emerged from one such corridor.

It didn’t look like the layout of a tomb at all.

But as for a millennial relic belonging to the Mythic Era, it should be a form of ancient worship, and after that endlessly long night, redefining these remnants of ancient belief as a tomb posed no problem at all.

Um.

Ji Liushuang seemed to understand and nodded slightly to express agreement.

Their discussion did not attract much attention, for at this moment, similar conversations were happening everywhere.

The Academy instructors were clearly quite interested in everything before them, looking for all the world like an elderly tour group.

As a result, Kamakura Si and others responsible for guiding had no choice but to stop and wait there.

It was a strange feeling to see the holy land they had guarded for hundreds of years looking like it was ready to sell tickets.

Regardless of the circumstances, they did not dare to speak up and remind them when they needed help.

“Alright, take us to the room where the body was discovered first.”

The awkwardness lasted for a few minutes until it was finally broken by Ni Huayuan’s voice.

It was clear that even though he was full of momentum at the moment, he did not dare to kill his colleagues’ curiosity right from the start.

“Okay.”

Kamakura Si, as if granted amnesty, took a deep breath and walked ahead.

Obviously, before entering, Kamakura Guizhi had already given him a detailed briefing on the exact location.

The path he chose next was almost without any hesitation.

Of course, except for Kamakura Guizhi, there were actually three other people in the team who also knew the route, but considering that they were either demigods or honored guests of the Academy, it was deemed inappropriate to trouble them to act as guides.

As the Academy members set about getting down to business so quickly, there was a clear sense of regret, but out of consideration for the feelings of the aggrieved party, they did not express it directly.

“This is the place.”

Following Kamakura Si’s lead, the team made their way and finally stopped in front of a door.

Based on the location, this was already deep within the ruins.

And all along the way, just as Kamakura Si had said, they had nearly found nothing special, everything looking like a neglected ruin.

…

“This is it.”

Facing Ni Huayuan’s scrutiny, Cass nodded emotionlessly.

“Let’s go in and take a look.”

With that, the former stepped forward.

When Fu Qian and the others left last time, the stone door was left ajar, and now it was easily pushed open.

Under Ni Huayuan’s lead, the Exploration Team filed in, and the empty chamber was once again presented before their eyes.

The bloodstains on the ground also proved that Kamakura Si had not led them astray.

Regrettably, the room was too empty.

At a glance, it seemed impossible that anything could be hidden inside.

For a moment, Ni Huayuan once again became the focal point of everyone’s gaze, waiting for his opinion.

“Do you know why the deceased chose this place?”

He did not seem overly rigid mentally, and after a moment of contemplation, he directly sought help from the audience in the room.

“My uncle did indeed enter the ruins quite often during his lifetime, but he generally didn’t allow us to follow.”

Unfortunately, the audience seemed to lack experience as well, and Kamakura Si, recalling the past, looked confused.

“I’m entering this room for the first time too, and it doesn’t seem to have anything too special.”

…

Ni Huayuan was clearly unsatisfied with this answer.

Crouching down, he picked up some of the bloodstains on the ground and observed the surroundings with narrowed eyes.

In the next moment, his gaze locked onto the room’s depths, at the broken statue.

“Why do I feel like there might be something special after all?”
