Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 796: Chapter 794 Mind Erosion (Part 10)_1 Chapter 796: Chapter 794 Mind Erosion (Part 10)_1 “You really did…”

Facing the open door ahead, Kelly’s eyes widened in disbelief.

She was evidently familiar with Nancy’s place and had rushed over quickly. Before she could even remind her, the unreliable assistant stepped forward and had the door open in two seconds.

“Please.”

Unfortunately, this talented individual had no interest in explaining and simply gestured for her to go in and check herself.

Kelly had to put her shock aside, glanced at the tightly sealed windows, and stepped inside.

Since Fu Qian hadn’t turned off the lights when he left, Nancy lying on the sofa was immediately visible.

Compared to when he left, her posture hadn’t changed at all, and she didn’t even look like she was sleeping but more like a corpse.

This tranquilizer is no simple matter.

As Kelly stood examining Nancy, Fu Qian was also reflecting to himself.

The tranquilizer, used as a cure-all, was indeed odd—it probably did more than just quiet people down.

“She actually agreed to drink it?”

At that moment, Kelly had finished checking Nancy’s condition, and it was evident that most of her doubts had dissipated.

“She was ‘willing’.”

Fu Qian made a gesture.

…

“Thank you!”

After a brief silence due to his gesture, Kelly finally let out a long sigh.

“Let’s go.”

“You’re welcome. Moreover, before that, Nancy said something interesting.”

Fu Qian suddenly mentioned, having no objections to Kelly wanting to come here to challenge her doubts because he likewise had some things to verify himself.

“What did she say?”

Kelly’s confusion seemed quite natural.

“She said that when I bring you here as planned, she would present an irrefutable reason, one that would make you realize your own ‘problem’.”

Fu Qian remembered well the thing he hadn’t found; he was very curious about Kelly’s view on this.

“Do you have any clue what it might be?”

“An irrefutable reason…”

Kelly murmured subconsciously.

“No.”

But she immediately shook her head firmly.

“I don’t think she has anything that could make me doubt myself.”

As she reached for the photo Fu Qian passed to her, her voice turned slightly deeper.

“Thank you, but this doesn’t stand for anything. Even if she brought out my medical report, it wouldn’t mean anything. Those things are dime a dozen.”

“I feel the same way.”

Without questioning Kelly’s response, Fu Qian nodded.

“In fact, I searched all over here and haven’t found anything.”

Meeting Kelly’s surprised and doubtful gaze, Fu Qian smiled.

“I’m not very good at remembering things today, and as a professional, being paranoid is definitely not desirable. I need something to convince myself, and I’ve decided to trust you in the end.”

“Now, we should go find Brother Sam.”

…

“Nancy and I were classmates and very close friends. I’m actually grateful that she invited me here.”

After leaving Nancy’s place, Kelly seemed to trust Fu Qian much more as she began to slowly share her situation.

“However, not long after that, what I saw in her clinic made me suspect that my condition had worsened—it was too bizarre, her patients…”

“Which patient?”

“Hushima Zhigui.”

“You have no idea how I felt when I discovered a recording of a conversation between Nancy and this patient, speaking in a perfectly natural tone, but the words were complete gibberish to me…”

As she recalled, Kelly let out a long breath.

Gibberish that was incomprehensible.

Fu Qian naturally thought of the cotton stuffed in Hushima Guizhi’s ears.

“But according to Nancy, she seemed to be just afraid of the light in the sky and didn’t react to special sounds.”

“Maybe it just hasn’t reached that level yet, anyway, after further probing, I found out something that made me increasingly fearful…”

“And this guy?”

As they spoke, the car screeched to a halt, and Fu Qian pointed his chin up to the building.

The two had successfully arrived at Sam’s brother’s place below.

“He has no particular connection with Hushima Zhigui, and there’s no interaction between them, but we can’t rule out the possibility that he might be influenced by Nancy acting as a go-between, so we need to be cautious.”

“Got it.”

Fu Qian responded, not in a rush to get out of the car, instead he fumbled around and found a pen, passing it over with a paper bag.

“Sign here.”

“What do you mean?”

Kelly was clearly baffled.

“You’ll know in a minute.”

Given Fu Qian’s behavior along the way, his requests seemed somewhat persuasive.

Though confused, Kelly nevertheless took the pen and briskly signed her name.

…

“Hello, Mr. Sam.”

As it turned out, Sam truly had heeded the doctor’s advice to stay home and not go out.

After Fu Qian knocked on the door, Sam peeked out from behind it in exactly the same stance.

“Hello.”

It seemed he still remembered Fu Qian, and although a bit sluggish, he did return the greeting.

“I’ve brought a guest over, may we come in and talk?”

Fu Qian asked, smiling amiably and stepping aside to reveal Kelly’s face.

“Sorry, the doctor told me to stay at home and not to let anyone in.”

“But he didn’t tell you to refuse medication, so why aren’t you taking the medicine I brought before?”

Impatient, Kelly immediately stepped forward, pointing to the tranquilizer in Fu Qian’s hand and said coldly.

“Sorry…”

Sam paused for a moment, first instinctively apologizing, then shaking his head firmly.

“I can’t take medicine without the doctor’s signature on the package.”

Was that the reason?

Kelly turned back to Fu Qian, surprised, and understood the significance of what he had done earlier.

“Here, so I’ve already signed it.”

At that moment, Fu Qian, with a much gentler tone, smilingly handed over the paper bag signed by Kelly.

“…Sorry, I can’t take medicine without the doctor’s signature.”

However, after a careful look, Sam still refused to take it.

“You…”

Kelly seemed on the verge of resorting to violence.

“Is that so, let me have a look.”

Fu Qian still wore a smile, indicating that Sam could close the door.

“You can imitate Nancy’s signature, can’t you?”

The next moment, he handed the pen back to Kelly, who was getting a bit incensed.

…

Kelly immediately grasped what Fu Qian meant.

“Of course, we used to help each other sign all the time in school.”

Taking the pen and another paper bag, Kelly quickly signed another name.

“Good.”

Fu Qian took it, satisfied, knocked on Sam’s door again, and handed over the newly signed paper bag.

“Sorry for the mix-up earlier.”

“This one’s yours.”

“…Sorry, I can’t take medicine without the doctor’s signature.”

Unfortunately, the next moment, Sam gave the same response.
