Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 791: Chapter 789: Brain Erosion (Part 5)_1 Chapter 791: Chapter 789: Brain Erosion (Part 5)_1 “So why can’t it be me?”

Patient Number Four’s reaction was undoubtedly the strangest one yet.

Considering the physical darkness, truly impossible to see clearly within, but judging by the voice, this person did not seem old.

Did Miss Nancy recognize him?

As a doctor’s assistant, it was not strange to know the patients.

But the surprise she showed upon seeing him seemed to indicate she was originally waiting for someone else, and it wasn’t him.

Besides, her behavior just now obviously seemed a bit off.

“Where is Kelly? Why didn’t she come?”

After a brief adjustment, Miss Nancy recovered quite quickly, and now her tone was completely normal.

“She’s very busy, so she sent me to bring you your medication.”

Fu Qian answered very honestly.

“May I come in?”

…

Nancy did not speak; the next moment, the room suddenly brightened as she reached out to turn on a small lamp.

“Close the door.”

She looked at the wire in Fu Qian’s hand and said coldly.

“I didn’t know you had this kind of skill.”

“Jack of all trades.”

Fu Qian stepped forward two paces and closed the door behind him.

Under the lamp, Miss Nancy, dressed in home attire, appeared to be in her thirties or forties, not tall, and looking somewhat haggard.

“Pass me the medicine and let me have a look.”

However, facing Fu Qian who had entered, she did not seem too wary and directly gestured to the paper bag in his hand.

“They’re all the same.”

Fu Qian casually handed over a pack.

“Tranquilizer?”

Nancy frowned as she opened it, and then her frown deepened instantly.

“Are you crazy? All four are tranquilizers? Did Kelly send you with these?”

“Yes, four doses.”

She was obviously in the know, and Fu Qian immediately confessed truthfully.

“Who else did you deliver to?”

“Hushima Zhigui, Sam, Rosetta.”

Fu Qian responded quickly.

“None of them accepted it, right? Or have you not yet visited their places?”

Nancy was clearly grinding her teeth, staring intently at the remaining paper bags in Fu Qian’s hand.

“I’ve seen them all. They all refused.”

“That’s good.”

The next moment, she sighed in relief, but her eyes soon became severe again.

“Don’t you know the consequences of distributing such things to patients? Have you been infected too?”

“I told you clearly: cooperate with her work, and then you must bring her with you when you make house calls. Have you forgotten everything?”

What was the situation? So, was there some understanding between him and the person before him?

Moreover, by the sound of it, why did it seem like Kelly was the one being schemed against?

“I forgot.”

The next moment, Fu Qian’s tone was very straightforward.

“All I remember now is that I work at the clinic, and today, on my first day, Dr. Kelly gave me a list with your name on it.”

He even handed over that list.

“You…”

She snatched the list, quickly looked over it, and her body nearly shook with tremors.

Then she turned without a word, took two steps, picked up an object, and threw it over.

“So you think you’re Kelly’s assistant now?”

“Am I not?”

Fu Qian expressed his doubts while catching something extended towards him, only to realize it was a white work card.

He pulled out his own from his pocket, and it was exactly the same.

“It’s not, because I just hired you a week ago.”

Dr. Nancy laughed bitterly out of extreme anger.

“And the main purpose is to have you assist in treating Kelly, so now I need to treat two people?”

So that was it.

Amidst the employer’s roar, Fu Qian roughly figured out what she meant.

“So Kelly is not actually a doctor, but a patient instead?”

“She was, originally.”

Seeing that Fu Qian wasn’t joking and seemed willing to communicate, Dr. Nancy took a deep breath and calmed herself down before speaking.

“She is a classmate I am very close to, with talent far surpassing my own, and her interest in patients is much greater than anything else.”

“Yet it was this very earnestness that, in turn, caused her harm.”

“Not long ago she came to me, saying that she encountered something in her work that she couldn’t face. Exhausted both physically and mentally, she came out to relax, and I decided to take care of her here.”

“But it wasn’t many days before problems arose.”

“After she volunteered to help me out, she developed uncontrollable delusions, believing she was the doctor and everyone else were her patients… including me, and she started to treat them at random.”

Dr. Nancy’s face was filled with sorrow as she spoke.

“I made many efforts, but sadly they were hardly effective on her. In the end, I had to think of a way to play along with this ‘doctor-patient’ game she was creating, hoping she would discover the contradictions by herself.”

“You are the assistant I found for this, but it seems you’ve forgotten your duty.”

That made sense, Fu Qian quickly recalled Kelly’s previous behavior.

It had to be said, Dr. Nancy’s account appeared more credible, especially considering even the handling of tranquilizers was highly suspicious.

But there was still a critical question.

“So the other three people on the list are all your patients too?”

Fu Qian asked the next moment.

“What’s the issue with this Rosetta?”

Fu Qian pointed at a name on the list.

Rosetta claimed she had just arrived for a while. Kelly knew her somewhat adequately, but what about her?

“What do you mean by that?”

Dr. Nancy asked sharply.

“Rosetta suffers from severe hallucinations, often unable to distinguish time and space. Do you still not believe me?”

So she actually knew? Which meant that Rosetta might have been here for a long time but was unaware of it?

The situation was becoming increasingly eerie!

“Leaving no stone unturned is an essential quality for completing the job,”

Fu Qian said with a smile, not denying his suspicions.

“However, I have visited Rosetta, and she claimed she hadn’t seen either you or Kelly.”

“So her condition worsened again? But whom do you believe, two psychiatrists or a patient?”

Dr. Nancy looked at Fu Qian with a touch of desperation.

“Or are you saying you are also a mental patient?”

It had to be admitted, she had a point.

Otherwise, there was no explanation for why both she and Kelly knew about Rosetta’s condition.

“So what was your original plan for treating Kelly?”

Fu Qian thought and asked again.

“I selected a few patients with milder symptoms, deliberately altered their information, and briefed them in advance.”

“After all, Kelly has a sharp eye, and it would be difficult to deceive her with just anyone.”

It seemed you couldn’t find anyone else around here either.

“After you brought Kelly over, they would all refuse treatment and make their own demands. During the process of Kelly attempting to handle these, you would guide her to discover inconsistencies.”

“And the last stop would be here with me. I would show her irrefutable evidence, fundamentally reversing her perception.”

“I think I understand now,”

Fu Qian nodded.

“Then it seems like there is one thing I did accomplish, like finally coming to you.”
