Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 779: Chapter 777 Sudden Persuasiveness_1 Chapter 779: Chapter 777 Sudden Persuasiveness_1 In the event well-known as the Infamy Rule, Ms. Kagetsu Kana once achieved impressive results at Deep Level Four and earned the title of Dark Fairy.

Translated into the Transcendent category, that would at least be considered Middle Tier.

Fu Qian never readily dismissed his divergent thinking, especially since today’s warehouse clock-in experience suggested that the Infamy Rule event was not so simple.

So the thought that made him reluctant to refuse, was it not the innate charm of Kagetsu Kana but rather an incidental Deep Level Four?

Then, it seemed the problem was even bigger.

“I won’t go.”

The next moment, Fu Qian overcame a hint of reluctance in his heart and shook his head firmly.

Having an influence is one thing, but being influenced is another.

Oh.

Kagetsu Kana’s complexion visibly darkened, as her aura from rising to Transcendent failed to affect Fu Qian, clearly leaving her quite disappointed.

However, she did not persist and turned to nod to Suzune Sawaki.

“I’m available anytime.”

Realizing the possibility of rising to Transcendent and achieving her wish, she was clearly eager to confirm her own situation.

“You two go back first, don’t touch anything here. We can’t rule out the impact of the Transcendent category in this death incident, I will notify someone to handle it.”

Suzune Sawaki nodded, then glanced at Kisaragi Chie, hesitating briefly before giving instructions.

Clearly, her mind was somewhat overwhelmed by the series of events unfolding before her.

“Okay.”

First there was Brother Takagi’s incomprehensible frenzy, and then her sister suddenly became a Transcendent. Kisaragi Chie was clearly shaken, her face turning pale as she nodded immediately, with no objections to the arrangements.

And until Kagetsu Kana left with Suzune Sawaki, she did not even glance at her.

“It’s still early.”

Seeing Kisaragi Chie with a vacant look, staring blankly at the wall, Fu Qian thought for a moment and did not offer any kind of decadent suggestion like having a drink, but instead urged earnestly.

“Haven’t you opened for business today?”

…

“What do you want to ask?”

Inside the familiar Fortune Teller’s Cottage, Kisaragi Chie made a great effort for a long time, still clearly having trouble getting into the right state of mind, before finally managing to speak.

“Today we can try a different method.”

Fu Qian, however, shook his head.

“I know your thoughts are in turmoil and your heart is full of questions, so this time, why don’t you consider what you want to ask me?”

…

“Don’t rush, take your time.”

“Do you, Mr. Darcy, also think the changes in Kana are due to the Miracle Elixir?”

Seeing that Fu Qian was not joking, Kisaragi Chie spent almost five minutes adjusting her mindset before she came up with her first question.

“Not necessarily, do you remember what I mentioned before about the issue of talent?”

Fu Qian’s tone was completely steady.

“It might fall into the category that gold will always eventually shine.”

“I remember, but could it really be that…”

Kisaragi Chie muttered to herself, clearly recalling this mysterious individual’s comments about her sister.

“Does that mean her peculiar behaviors from childhood to adulthood are due to her talent?”

“I can’t rule out that possibility.”

“Then I really don’t know if this gift is a blessing or a curse…”

Kisaragi Chie sighed softly, perhaps thinking of her deceased father.

“Did you encounter Mr. Darcy and Kana at the Mist Society Temple yesterday?”

After her moment of contemplation, Kisaragi Chie remembered something else.

“Yes.”

“Did Kana experience any accidents there?”

“She had a small disagreement with Brother Takagi, but they made up later.”

Fu Qian could be described as someone who had an answer for every question.

“Strange.”

Kisaragi Chie’s attention seemed to focus more intently, reflecting on his words while Fu Qian did not interrupt her.

“Kana seemed very happy yesterday, she came back and visited me with Takagi, telling me about their experience at the Mist Society Temple and about encountering you, although she had no such plans before…”

Her words unintentionally betrayed her sister, revealing that Kana had indeed planned to follow Su Gao and Fu Qian to the Mist Society Temple.

“Did she come to find you again before midnight yesterday?”

Muttering to herself, Kisaragi Chie suddenly looked up.

Oh?

Fu Qian gave her a glance.

“No, why do you ask?”

“It might just be my imagination…”

His question caused Kisaragi Chie to ponder deeply.

“When I was recalling the past just now, I suddenly remembered some things. She was excited when she came back yesterday, but there was no fundamental difference from before.”

“However, when I saw her in the evening, she seemed a bit different… I always felt like something had changed in between.”

Was there really an unexpected influencing factor?

Fu Qian nodded in satisfaction, having obtained the information he was interested in.

He had mentioned before that a major reason for visiting Kisaragi Chie first was her keen observational skills. As a perceptive character, Kisaragi Chie was extremely sensitive to the subtle changes in her sister, almost equivalent to a live observational record.

He had let Kisaragi Chie ask questions freely for the same reason.

The strong impact certainly left her thoughts in disarray. Allowing her to take the initiative in questioning helped in stabilizing her mind and organizing her thoughts, to review every piece of observational data as much as possible.

In the end, she did not disappoint, providing an important piece of information.

If Kisaragi Chie felt that her sister’s demeanor had changed suddenly, it somewhat corroborated his second guess—a special reason had led to Kana’s sudden transformation.

And the time frame was from after her return yesterday until before midnight.

“What was different about her?”

Fu Qian pondered and asked a second question.

“Well… considering her behavior recently, I’ve always been quite strict with her, and she was usually reluctant to accept it.”

“But last night, when I went to see her at Takagi’s, I scolded her for being too mischievous, yet she seemed not too dissatisfied and even a bit hesitant, appearing more obedient than usual. It was a very subtle feeling… However, because Takagi was clearly not in a normal state, he eventually tied me up and took her away.”

Kana was actually more obedient than usual?

This statement surprised Fu Qian, with a growing sense of foreboding.

According to Kisaragi Chie’s account, she had scolded her sister, who then hesitated in an uncharacteristic manner. The simplest explanation was that Kana had encountered something that changed her personality and mindset. It seemed that Kisaragi Chie thought the same.

But there could be another interpretation.

Considering the mysterious persuasive power Kana had shown earlier, a Seventh Phase individual could intervene in a Demigod’s cognition. So, could an ordinary person also intervene in a Transcendent’s cognition?

Kana’s increased obedience was not because she had changed, but because her sister had changed?
