Martial Dao: Peace by Force

Chapter 78: Chapter 74: Forging Heroism with Fists, Stealing the Celestial Secret Again

”You can’t handle the consequences if I get out.” Wan Ze’s voice drifted from the half-open window, perfectly calm, completely unfazed.

But his words undoubtedly enraged the already arrogant and domineering Jie Bufan. A vicious glint flared in his eyes, and without a second thought, he fired at the car.

”BANG!”

The close-range roar of the shotgun was deafening.

The pellet shot forward, far too fast for the human eye to track.

The shot was dead-on.

It flew almost directly at Wan Ze’s face.

Although he couldn’t see the pellet’s trajectory, the moment Tie Feiyang saw Jie Bufan fire directly at Wan Ze, all the blood rushed to his head. His heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a hand, and the suffocating feeling left him speechless. Only a single, desperate thought remained in his mind: ’It’s over! If Brother Wan dies here...’

On pure instinct, he threw caution to the wind and lunged for the car.

But then...

”CLICK!”

The pellet that should have hit Wan Ze was now held casually in a single hand.

The expected scene of shattering glass and splattering gore never came.

Wan Ze was still leaning back in the passenger seat. At some point, he had raised his right hand and was now nonchalantly toying with the pellet.

And in that instant.

The expression on the previously arrogant Jie Bufan’s face froze. He had never imagined things would turn out so differently.

”You...”

”You... you can actually catch a bullet with your bare hands?”

’Is this fucking human?’

He was so shocked he nearly bit his tongue off.

Tie Feiyang, halfway through his lunge, froze. As he came to his senses and breathed a sigh of relief, his legs nearly gave out from under him.

’Brother Wan is okay, thank god he’s okay!’

But that relief was immediately followed by a nameless rage that filled his heart.

He turned his head, ready to curse out that complete moron, Jie Bufan.

Just as he was about to speak, a sharp whistle suddenly shot past his ear. It sounded like a projectile tearing through the air, but its speed was far greater, far more violent than the pellet Jie Bufan had fired!

’Not good!’

Tie Feiyang’s heart sank.

He hurriedly looked back.

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Wan Ze flicking his wrist, sending the pellet hurtling toward Jie Bufan.

’If that hits, forget his skull, Jie Bufan’s head will probably explode like a watermelon!’

Tie Feiyang was scared out of his wits.

Of course, he wished that bastard Jie Bufan would drop dead on the spot, but the man’s identity was too sensitive!

His father was one of the higher-ups in the Management Committee!

That wasn’t some minor bureau; it was a behemoth that reported directly to the City Council and wielded immense, tangible power!

Even their Tie Family... had to, to some extent, walk on eggshells around the Management Committee!

In other words, this was someone the Tie Family absolutely could not afford to offend!

Of course, he believed that with an even more formidable power like Dragon Eagle backing him, Wan Ze wouldn’t be afraid of the Jie Family.

But... he was terrified. After all, he was the reason Wan Ze had gotten dragged into this mess.

If Dragon Eagle decided to look into this, his father, Tie Qingyang, would be the first to have his hide.

At that point, even the Iron Cross Group could be dragged down with him!

”Brother Wan, don’t—”

He was on the verge of tears, wishing he could just rush over and give Jie Bufan a thrashing himself.

He wanted to stop it, but he didn’t have the power.

But unexpectedly, in the nick of time...

”SHING!”

The ringing cry of a sword suddenly echoed!

From the shadows of the landscaped median not far behind Jie Bufan, a gray figure shot out at an unbelievable speed. A cold glint of light in his hand, though starting later, arrived first, positioning itself in front of Jie Bufan with not a hair’s breadth to spare!

It was a longsword. In the twilight, its blade carved an arc of light as it viciously struck the steel pellet.

”CLANG!!!”

The ear-piercing shriek of metal on metal exploded through the air.

A spray of sparks even burst forth in mid-air.

The steel pellet was struck clean by the vicious sword strike and sent flying, embedding itself diagonally into the ground nearby and leaving a small crater.

The longsword, in turn, was knocked aside by the immense impact. Its blade let out a clear hum before it plunged deep into the concrete less than half a meter in front of Jie Bufan with a THUD. The hilt vibrated wildly, emitting a heart-stopping BUZZ.

A middle-aged man then strode forward, his voice cold and severe. ”Friend, wasn’t that a bit heavy-handed? He was just messing with you, and you move to kill him?”

’He... he blocked it?’

For some reason, despite his relief, Tie Feiyang felt an inexplicable emptiness in his heart.

But when he got a clear look at the middle-aged man shielding Jie Bufan, his gaze hardened. As if recalling something, he gasped and took a step back. ”You’re... the Cyan City Sword King, Wang Buzhan?”

The middle-aged man barely lifted his eyelids, giving Tie Feiyang a cold glance before snorting. ”Good. Then you know your place. For the sake of your Tie Family, I’ll let this slide today. But if you dare try something like this again... I’ll cut you down without mercy, even if your old man himself shows up!”

He rebuked him coldly.

But he hadn’t even finished the last word, ”mercy.”

A soft *click*.

The car door opened.

One foot landed firmly on the ground. The movement seemed light, yet it kicked up a violent circle of dust. Wan Ze’s figure then emerged from the car, and the resounding boom of his presence cut off the rest of Wang Buzhan’s sentence.

It was as if someone had hit the mute button on the entire, clamoring world.

His overwhelming presence simply crushed Wang Buzhan’s domineering aura.

Almost instinctively, everyone turned to look.

Wang Buzhan’s brow furrowed. Only now did he get a clear look at the ”master” who had caught a bullet with his bare hands. He was so young.

Impossibly young.

And yet, the young man’s calm demeanor inevitably made him think of a volcano lying dormant, hidden just beneath a placid surface.
