Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1153: Chapter 1152: The Powerful Monster

Watching Ling Chen break through obstacles and escape right under its nose, the underground monster let out an extremely furious roar, causing the entire underground space to shake violently.

Black tendrils whipped fiercely against the surrounding stone walls, smashing chunks of rock into powder.

At this moment, Marquis Guiming, Yuwen Lin, Wei Renjie, and others also rushed out of the cave and entered the underground space.

”What on earth is this creature?”

The moment Marquis Guiming and the others appeared, they also noticed the presence of the underground monster, and a look of shock briefly appeared in their eyes.

How could there be such a monster here?

The underground monster seemed to have also noticed Marquis Guiming and the others; excitement suddenly flashed in its lantern-sized eyes, and three massive black tendrils abruptly swept toward them.

”Vile beast, you’re courting death!”

Marquis Guiming was in a foul mood because he couldn’t find Ling Chen, and now being attacked by the underground monster made him explode in fury, slashing at the tendril with his sword.

Splrch!

The moment the blade struck the tendril, its scale armor was slashed open, but it only left a wound; black liquid oozed from the gap, emitting a foul stench.

Boom!

The tendril, carrying immense force, whipped Marquis Guiming’s body, sending him flying due to the tremendous power.

”What on earth is this monster?”

Marquis Guiming steadied himself, a look of horror in his eyes; fortunately, he blocked the tendril with his arms, and he wore a saint-level armor that absorbed most of the force, otherwise, that strike would have severely injured him.

Even so, his arms were still numb, the bones aching intensely.

With his strength, he feared no Second Realm Saint, yet this unknown monster’s strength was formidable.

While they hesitated, a third tendril suddenly flew out from a crevice, entangling and dragging a Wild Fire City disciple into the gap.

”Ah!”

They hadn’t yet reacted when the disciple’s anguished screams echoed from the crevice, followed by horrifying chewing sounds, chilling them to the bone.

Hearing the terrifying sounds, Yuwen Lin and Wei Renjie exchanged glances, seeing fear in each other’s eyes; had they been dragged inside, they would be the ones devoured.

”The exit is above, leave quickly!”

Cold sweat dripped from Marquis Guiming’s forehead; the monster’s strength was unfathomable, a formidable challenge even for him, not to mention guarding others.

Sometimes fleeing is the best strategy!

”Run!”

Yuwen Lin and Wei Renjie were already terrified, and upon hearing Marquis Guiming’s command, they immediately sped up to their limits, darting toward the exit!

Just as they moved, two tendrils emerged where they had been standing; a moment later and they’d have been ensnared!

The two Wild Fire City core disciples trailing them weren’t as lucky, ensnared and dragged into darkness, one by one.

”There’s the exit!”

Marquis Guiming was the fastest; he saw an exit leading to the surface and his sword revealed a hint of joy.

He struck the soil overhead, carving a path to escape, and his body dashed through the opening, reaching the ground.

Yuwen Lin and Wei Renjie also perked up upon hearing this, delighted as they followed Marquis Guiming out.

”Haha, finally rid of that beast!”

Both Yuwen Lin and Wei Renjie sighed in relief, their faces returning to normal, but just as they relaxed, ”Boom” — the ground shattered, revealing two large holes, from which black tendrils emerged, swiftly ensnaring their waists.

Horrified, they hadn’t even reacted before the tendrils began dragging them underground!

”Senior Brother Zhang, save me!”

Yuwen Lin and Wei Renjie cried out desperately in unison.

Marquis Guiming channeled True Qi into his long knife, flashing swiftly beside the tendril; he slashed with full force, the searing blade’s energy compressed to the limit, appearing black, violently cutting toward the tendrils binding Yuwen Lin and Wei Renjie.

Crack!

The tendril ensnaring Wei Renjie was severed in one strike, the remaining blade energy continued, striking the tendril holding Yuwen Lin, but failed to sever it, only creating a crack before dissipating.

Yuwen Lin’s body was still dragged underground violently.

”No!”

Yuwen Lin screamed in terror, but his voice soon faded, swallowed by darkness.

And then, nothing but silence.

Wei Renjie stared at the massive pit in shock; if Marquis Guiming hadn’t saved him, he would have been the one dragged down.

”Stop staring, let’s go!”

Without hesitation, Marquis Guiming dragged Wei Renjie away; this place was too dangerous to linger.

”Damn it, Senior Brother Zhang, so many brothers died, all because of Ling Chen. He cannot get away with this.”

Wei Renjie’s eyes flashed with hatred; they failed to kill Ling Chen and lost Yuwen Lin and several core disciples, a tragic loss.

”Don’t worry, that brat won’t leave the Demon Dragon Palace alive.”

Marquis Guiming’s murderous intent surged; Yuwen Lin was a heavenly pride-level genius disciple, a key figure among Wild Fire City youth, destined to become a Saint, expected to achieve greatness.

Yet he perished here, a colossal blow to Wild Fire City.

Yuwen Lin’s demise must be blamed on Ling Chen.

No one, not even the Wild Fire City elders who ventured here with them, would let Ling Chen go.
