Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 444: Chapter 226: Buddha or Demon?

As the horrifying ghosts appeared in the town, the crowd immediately let out terrified screams!

”Hungry ghosts, hungry ghosts have entered the town!”

The old man who refused to evacuate shivered, his face full of fear.

Chu Xiu did not tolerate them; he directly used the Earth Binding Technique, binding all the residents together, along with their luggage.

Occasionally, some of the elderly were scared into heart attacks, and sending life energy easily kept them breathing. A fierce ghost packed several old men together like cargo, then carried them on its shoulder and ran towards the distance.

Actually, Chu Xiu only took some food, throwing away the extra things. After all, resources here are scarce, but in the Corpse Demon World, there’s nothing he can’t get.

Meanwhile, watching the crowd almost frightened to tears, Liang Zhan was stunned.

This is too straightforward and brutal!

But he quickly realized it wasn’t due to Chu Xiu’s carelessness; rather, it was that the task of calming the crowd was given to him.

With a clear understanding, Liang Zhan gathered his inner energy, jumped a few times, and landed on a tall tower, shouting down, ”Everyone, do not panic! These beings are Dharma Protectors under the Buddha here to assist us in evacuating!”

Liang Zhan’s shout carried his true power, with a clear sound reaching everyone’s ears, containing a special effect of calming them.

The terrified crowd stopped in their tracks, and the soldiers guarding the city loosened their fingers on their triggers slightly.

After being reminded by Liang Zhan’s shout, they gradually calmed down from fear, and once their rational minds took over, they quickly realized that these monsters indeed did not harm them. Instead, they were helping organize their luggage and transport the elderly and children with mobility issues.

Though the methods were somewhat crude, they were indeed helping them.

This made the expressions on the crowd’s faces become strange.

Are there...such ugly Dharma Protectors?

Aren’t the legendary Dharma Protectors supposed to be majestic and dignified like the ones in temples?

”Mom, this Dharma Protector is so scary,”

A young child snuggled into his mother’s arms, whispered.

The mother instinctively nodded, she also thought so, but just then, she saw several ”monsters” dragging out monks from the Buddhist Sect within the monastery, monks whose legs had been broken.

She recognized these people; they were from the Buddhist Sect who previously opposed evacuation.

The mother shivered, smacked her child on the head.

”Shut up! Don’t disrespect the Dharma Protectors!”

”Without this intimidating appearance, how can they scare away hungry ghosts?”

The child looked at his mother with grievance but obediently closed his mouth.

A similar scene occurred in various corners of the city.

After the initial panic, people quickly accepted reality.

The number of monsters, damn it, was more than humans. Even if one haunted one person, thousands could be left over, and above there sat a fellow claiming to be the Buddha, who the hell dare harbor any rebellious thoughts?

Those with steadfast beliefs were simple, just break their limbs and drag them away.

Anyway, Chu Xiu’s only concern was bringing these people alive back to the Corpse Demon World. As for what happens afterward, he doesn’t care.

This made the evacuation speed of the residents more than ten times faster? Before a quarter-hour passed, they almost all left Guard City.

And under the high-speed movement of the ghosts, within another quarter-hour, they had reached the main city.

The expansive hordes of ghosts encircled the edge of the city wall like an army, only waiting for the defense forces to open the city gates.

But Chu Xiu, sitting among the clouds, frowned slightly.

Because at this moment, a layer of gray spiritual light, like an inverted cover, enveloped the entire main city, on the city walls, the soldiers’ weapons were fully loaded, Vajra Heavy Cannon, Large Fire Cannon, Crossbow Carriage, etc., were all ready and aimed at the residents below.

”Quick moves indeed.”

Although Chu Xiu had anticipated this, he couldn’t help but marvel at the solidity of the Buddhist Sect’s rule in this world.

”Citizens, do not be deceived by the evil Buddha!”

A Buddhist elder stood atop the city gates, emitting radiant golden light, loudly proclaiming.

”That creature in the sky is not the Buddha, but an evil Buddha disguised by hungry ghosts!”

”His goal is to use you, forcing us to open the city gates, break through the main city’s defenses!”

”Traitor Liang Zhan has, in the prolonged war with hungry ghosts, been bewitched and assimilated by them!”

”I hereby convey the decree of the Saint Monk to all citizens, please take weapons and help me break the evil Buddha’s conspiracy! Even if you die in this battle, you can receive the Buddha’s protection and enter Paradise!”

”But if you remain stubborn, you will surely be entangled by wicked thoughts and fall into the Eighteen Layers of Hell!”

The Buddhist elder’s words rang out, causing the tens of thousands of people below to look at each other, their hearts beginning to waver again.

Indeed, Chu Xiu’s outfit was far from their impression of the Buddha, while these so-called Dharma Protectors were closer to hungry ghosts than protectors!

Some with steadfast beliefs immediately realized, cursing loudly, ”I knew it! You evil demons, trying to deceive me!”

After saying, he didn’t hesitate to pull out a dagger from his arms and swing it at the ghost beside him!

Although this rough iron weapon couldn’t cause any harm to the ghosts, it incited some disturbance, and even many soldiers began to waver!

Seeing this, anxiety appeared on Liang Zhan’s face, he stood among the troops shouting, trying to stabilize morale, but the Buddhist Sect’s long-standing power was too heavy, the belief that the Buddha’s words are absolute truth was deeply ingrained. The more Liang Zhan anxiously maintained order, the more chaotic his men became!
