Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 410: Chapter 212: 2,000 Upper Position

With the size and destructive power of large Hungry Ghosts, they could easily smash a massive breach into even concrete walls. Therefore, every time a large Hungry Ghost appears, it becomes a priority target for elimination. The gigantic crossbow cannons made from Hungry Ghost Tendons are specifically designed for them.

As for the final upper echelon Hungry Ghosts, they should possess the pinnacle strength of the Fierce Tier, with some exceptional ones even nearing the General Tier! Moreover, due to their humanoid form, they have virtually no weaknesses and even possess multiple talents and traits that are hard to counter.

For each upper echelon Hungry Ghost, the entire military camp must be on high alert and plan carefully. If one breaks into the lines, it could very well trigger a chain reaction of defeat.

Luckily, each wave of Hungry Ghosts usually only brings two or three upper echelon Corpse Demons. Thanks to Liang Zhan, a martial arts prodigy rare in decades, along with a group of military experts, they can barely cope.

”A million Hungry Ghosts, over a thousand large ones, more than ten upper echelon! This indeed is almost the limit that the soldiers here can handle, no wonder Liang Zhan is so tense, returning to the rear before the great battle to meet Buddhist Elders and seek more armaments.”

”However...”

”At this level, for Apocalypse Difficulty, it’s still too low.” Chu Xiu’s eyes flickered.

At the moment he was deep in thought, suddenly, in the monitoring room, a red light flashed and an ear-piercing alarm rang in everyone’s ears!

”The Hungry Ghost tide is here!”

Liang Zhan shouted lowly, stepping forward to quickly input commands in front of the monitor, seemingly trying to find the direction of the Hungry Ghost invasion, but in just a second, he suddenly froze.

The monitors were filled with densely packed, rapidly moving red dots!

It wasn’t just one or several surveillance radars; all the radars showed red dots. It was as if a tide was spreading from the endless sea, engulfing the surveillance in an instant, the view full of a piercing red!

”This, this is!”

Liang Zhan’s eyes widened, and almost immediately, the emergency phone in the monitoring room rang!

”Uncle Chen, what’s the situation on the front lines?” Liang Zhan grabbed the phone, asking anxiously.

The answer from the phone froze everyone’s face!

”Hungry Ghosts! They’re everywhere! They’re charging toward the camp simultaneously, as if being led!”

”Every passage is blocked, the numbers are overwhelming! There are large Corpse Demons, upper echelon Corpse Demons, and so many of them!”

Liang Zhan’s face turned serious, shouting to those behind him: ”All troops, on guard! Deploy every trainee up on the city walls! Prepare all Vajra Heavy Cannons and load the ones under maintenance too!”

”Yes!”

Everyone responded in unison, and although the senior generals looked worried, they were not panicked, quickly heading out to gather their subordinates, while Liang Zhan grabbed a walkie-talkie and hurriedly ran out of the command post toward the nearby tallest command tower: ”Uncle Chen, activate the Anchor Device, determine the number of upper echelon Hungry Ghosts!”

Even in an emergency, he quickly made a judgment.

Ordinary Hungry Ghosts, no matter how many, couldn’t breach multiple concrete walls at once. Even large Hungry Ghosts would have their steps slowed by other Hungry Ghosts, giving everyone enough time to respond.

It’s only the upper echelon Corpse Demons! Each one could directly destroy the defenses, and they must be intercepted in advance!

The Anchor Device, a Buddha Treasure granted by the Buddhist Sect, can instantly reveal the number and approximate location of powerful presences nearby upon activation.

”How is it, Uncle Chen, how many upper echelon Corpse Demons are there?” Liang Zhan asked anxiously.

But the response was a series of uneasy gasps.

”Uncle Chen?” Liang Zhan realized something was wrong. The Uncle Chen he referred to was the captain of the Vanguard Camp, second only to him as a martial arts expert in the army, experienced in battle, capable of remaining calm even in one-on-one duels with upper echelon Hungry Ghosts.

Yet, at this moment, he clearly sensed the panic from the other end of the walkie-talkie.

Under his urging, a bitter voice finally came through: ”General, there are... there are...”

The voice trembled, unable to speak for a moment.

Liang Zhan showed a look of unease, hurriedly asking: ”Exactly how many? Has it reached double digits?”

”General, there are a total of two thousand.”

”...How many?”

Listening to the voice from the walkie-talkie, Liang Zhan momentarily doubted his ears.

”General, not double digits, it’s two thousand! Two thousand upper echelon Corpse Demons!”

Uncle Chen’s voice shook, even breaking, and Liang Zhan was left stunned in place.

Two thousand?

Two thousand upper echelon Corpse Demons???

In that instant, countless thoughts flashed through his mind. Did he mishear twenty as two thousand? Could it be Uncle Chen mistook the reading? Is it possible the Buddha Treasure malfunctioned?

But the next instant, these thoughts vanished, because he had already climbed the command tower.

From this hundred-meter giant tower, he looked out and saw a tide of black Hungry Ghosts surging forth.

Liang Zhan had never seen a Hungry Ghost tide of such magnitude, the endless Giant’s Road completely blocked by the charging Hungry Ghosts, and at the end, more Hungry Ghosts were pouring in from the passage of the Fallen Paradise!

Of course, what truly drove Liang Zhan to despair were the countless small black dots floating in mid-air.

These small black dots hung in the sky, densely packed like a black net. Upon closer examination, they appeared to be humanoid beings, over three meters tall, both men and women.
