Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1333: Section 1334 Space Displacement

“`

More than a month had passed since they had returned from the Abyss.

Although Popota had never said it, his heart was actually filled with anxiety.

Popota also knew that going to another Witcher Organization, especially the Black Castle that seldom interacted with the outside world, would probably not be easy. He wasn’t saying that he wanted to go immediately, but if they truly were to go, including himself, they actually needed to do some mental preparation.

Because he didn’t know how to tell Hua Que about his past after seeing her.

The reason why Popota asked this question was just to hope that Angel could give him a rough timeline, so he could prepare himself.

...
“It shouldn’t take too long,” Angel reflected for a moment before providing a rather vague timeframe.

Like Popota, Angel also yearned to reach the Black Castle sooner. After all, he was completely helpless regarding Toby’s situation and could only hope to benefit from Greya’s assistance.

And, since Greya had been summoned away by apprentices from the Black Castle when she was on Illusion Demon Island, it was very likely that she was currently there.

Now that Jon’s situation had temporarily stabilized, Angel had planned to go to the Black Castle during this period.

However, if he went to the Black Castle alone, with his current identity as an Alchemist, he might not be refused. But who knew if Isabella, that old witch, would go crazy again like she had last time at Silent Hill.

Therefore, he could only wait for Sanders to return from Punk Theme Park. And before leaving Pat Manor, Sanders had also mentioned the plans to head to the Black Castle.

Not too long? Hearing this answer, although Angel still hadn’t given a specific time, it at least showed that he hadn’t forgotten.

Popota nodded without continuing to inquire further, putting the topic aside for the moment.

…

Gondola had been flying over the sea for half a day, and now he was close to the center of the Whisker Sea in the windless belt.

This place, due to the lack of winds all year round and the absence of passing ships, even had fewer sea beasts than other areas, which was exactly the location Angel wanted.

In the vast, boundless ocean, he found a deserted, unpopulated island and decided to attempt constructing his first Witchcraft Slot there.

But before constructing the Witchcraft Slot, Angel still needed to construct the last few pattern lines of the Gate Model.

His thoughts sank into the Mind Space.

The Gate Model, emitting an odd glow, stood erect amidst the chaos.

By now, the Gate Model’s more than two thousand seven hundred pattern lines were essentially formed, and only by looking through the Axis of Myriad Manifestations could one find that a few lines were still missing.

The energy distribution among the Gate Model’s pattern lines wasn’t all the same. Of the more than one thousand three hundred lines that Angel had built himself, one-twentieth contained spatial attributes.

The lines with spatial attributes, Angel had originally thought he would find difficult to construct, but in reality, they were just slightly slower than the regular lines, though the magic power consumed was many times more.

So, every time after constructing lines with spatial attributes, he generally had to engage in meditation again, waiting for the Magical Core to recover before he could continue building new lines.

It was precisely because of these lines with spatial attributes that Angel’s progress had been so slow, until he had almost completed them today.

The remaining few lines, which did not involve spatial qualities, Angel estimated that with his magical core currently full, constructing all the lines would consume very little of his magic power, less than one-thirtieth. The remaining magic power should be enough to support the consumption of the Witchcraft Slot.

Thinking this, Angel took a deep breath and began constructing the remaining few pattern lines.

Perhaps because he had already grown very familiar with the construction over the past few months, Angel found himself able to focus on other questions while building—

For example, what would be the effect of this Gate Model?

This question, in fact, Angel had basically had a general direction when he began constructing it.

It should have the function of spatial displacement.

Whether the final effect was short-range teleportation or long-distance translocation, any spatial displacement skill was very useful for a wizard.

Short-range could be used in combat and evasion, long-distance for escaping and rushing on one’s way.

One must know that even space mages, who were extremely scarce, had to reach the formal stage before they could learn the corresponding spatial displacement spell technique.

Therefore, Angel’s first Witchcraft Slot gaining a spatial displacement trick would be a huge upgrade for him!

But Angel still harbored some doubts in his heart.

Was the effect of the Gate Model merely simple spatial displacement?

He had these doubts because only half of the Gate Model was built by himself, while the other half was made of a “special energy.”

This special energy, Angel still found difficult to understand in its composition.

Because it came from that mysterious world closely related to the “Eye of the Sky,” the world that had absorbed the energy from a plane fusion and then pulled Angel into it.

In that mysterious world, Angel had removed his emotional module and rationally done many things.

Among them, he followed the energy core of that mysterious world to learn “building lessons,” and what he built was the Gate Model.

Since it was a “lesson,” naturally, the “teacher” had to provide a demonstration in the beginning.

And the half of the Gate Model that the “teacher” had built at the time was constructed with special energy.

“`

Angel could have easily allowed the special energy to fade and just reconstructed the model using his own magic power within the Mind Space. However, the special energy was too unique. It seemed ordinary on the surface, but like a reef exposed on the sea, the small part visible bore no comparison to the gigantic structure lying beneath the waves, unimaginably vast.

Angel even speculated that this kind of special energy might be unique to the Eye of the Sky, a transcendent existence beyond cognition.

Therefore, after analyzing the pros and cons, Angel decided to continue building according to the Gate Model that had already been half-constructed by the special energy.

By the time it was completed and permanently fixed in the Witchcraft Slot, he would be able to retain this model of the gate constructed with special energy.

His decision was undoubtedly bold.

Because he had no idea what benefits or detriments the special energy could bring, or whether it would cause any harm to him?

Yet he still went ahead with it, primarily because, at that moment in the strange world, Angel lacked an emotional module and was absolutely rational. After analysis, he believed the special energy would not harm him.

At the same time, Angel intended to take Jon back to Earth, so he couldn’t afford to miss out on anything related to the “Eye of the Sky,” including this special energy.

Also because half of the Gate Model he constructed was made of special energy, Angel couldn’t be sure whether the final effect would be purely spatial displacement?

Could those special energies cause some other effects? This too was an unknown.

Moreover, Angel used his own magic power, which contained Illusion Technique properties, to construct the Gate Model—could this also affect the final result?

The answers to all these questions could only be known once the Gate Model was set today.

…

Time slowly passed.

Popota suddenly felt something unusual and raised his head in confusion.

He first looked into the distance, where the sun was now tilting, casting a rosy glow on the sea surface in the distance. Looking closely, there seemed to be nothing amiss.

He then turned his head to look at Angel, who was sitting cross-legged on the cliff top not far away. Angel was still with his eyes closed, showing no sign of movement.

Hesitating for a moment, Popota couldn’t help but mutter to himself, “Could I have sensed it wrong? And… didn’t Angel say he was going to test a Trick? Why hasn’t he made a move?”

Not daring to disturb Angel, Popota shook his head and continued to lift the Pliant Worm’s nest, observing the queen worm’s changes.

…

At this moment, near the coastal area of the Old Earth Continent, a figure emitting a faint blue light, stood by the edge of a tranquil, emerald-green lake.

This faint blue light figure, upon closer inspection, appeared almost transparent, as if composed of liquid.

However, its facial features were extremely distinct.

If Angel were here, he would probably immediately recognize that this figure bore an uncanny resemblance to “Son of the Ocean” Jiebo.

The only difference was that this watery figure did not have the Pattern on the brow.

And this figure was indeed related to Jiebo because it was the aquatic Avatar Jiebo had sent.

Jiebo had previously placed several such Avatars in the nearby seas, with this one particularly concealed within the Whisker Sea.

“Through the underground aqueduct of this lake, I should be able to directly reach the location where Gold is,” Jiebo murmured to himself.

Since he was here to find Angel, he had to start from “Silvery Star,” who might know of Angel’s whereabouts.

As Jiebo was having these thoughts, his brows suddenly furrowed tightly, and he swiftly turned to look at the Whisker Sea in the distance.

The horizon, both sky and sea, was tinged with the embarrassed orange-red of the sunset.

“Such a strange feeling,” Jiebo frowned, wondering why he was feeling so uneasy when there seemed to be nothing wrong at first glance?

“It’s a pity that this is just an Avatar. I can’t analyze the specific sensation,” Jiebo sighed. “It would be better if it were my true self here.”

As time progressed, the unfamiliar sensation in Jiebo’s heart grew more intense.

He glanced at the lake beneath his feet and then back at the distant ocean.

“Should I go check it out?”

Jiebo weighed his options for a while, then turned away from the lake, walking towards the sea.

Since he knew Angel was in Old Earth Continent, finding him could wait. But that unsettling unusual sensation was a rare occurrence.

Jiebo decided to check it out.

Not just Jiebo, but also at the outskirts of Conniea, on a farm, Silvery Star suddenly furrowed her brows, looking perplexedly around. Failing to notice anything unusual, she chose to disregard it.

And in the locked quiet chamber of the underground laboratory, Gold also opened his eyes.

Although Gold noticed something unusual, he didn’t think too much, or rather, he didn’t dare to at such a critical moment. He couldn’t afford to relax.

Gold closed his eyes again, sinking into his thoughts.
