Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1317: Section 1318 Personality Interaction

Sanders’s pupils contracted, and without hesitation, he returned from the Wilderness of Dreams to reality.

At this moment, Rolando’s figure also began to blur, his gaze still vacant, completely unaware of what had happened.

As the stimuli in reality became stronger for Rolando, he finally broke through the constraints of the Gate of Dreams.

Rolando disappeared as well.

In the boundless wilderness, Angel emerged from the Mist, looking at the place where the two had vanished, his expression very stern.

He remembered that Sanders had said that Rolando was imprisoned in the Geometric Lock, and that Sanders had personally set up another cage, binding Rolando’s Magic Power… Under these circumstances, Rolando should have been completely safe, so how could something have gone wrong?

...
And to cause a lethal mishap?

As Angel felt puzzled, Sanders had already opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was a dark shadow standing inside the Magic Power cage, back turned to Sanders, with no discernable action. However, the sound of dripping could be heard, and a large area of the ground was stained red.

The figure of this shadow… Eulica!

Eulica had clearly been banished by him to the Illusionary Realm, and by Sanders’s own estimation, even if Eulica’s resistance to Illusion Techniques gradually increased, it shouldn’t have been possible for her to awaken so quickly, should it?

And even if she did awaken, Suise should have been able to maintain control, right?

Sanders glanced to the side and saw Suise standing there with a complex look in his eye, evidently pondering something.

Sanders didn’t have the time to speculate about the mishap that had occurred; in a flash, he appeared inside the cage, and before Eulica could react, a violent surge of the Power of Nightmare Illusion charged straight toward her forehead.

“Don’t!” Suise exclaimed in shock!

Usually, the Illusion Nodes that Sanders used to trap Eulica were considered gentle. But this time, even Suise, sensing the lively and violent nature of the Power of Nightmare Illusion, felt his heart skip a beat!

However, it was already too late for Suise to stop what was happening. Eulica turned pale and collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Sanders didn’t check Eulica’s condition but instead turned to look at Rolando, who was sitting in the prison chair, his chest and abdomen pierced by a massive hole, from which blood was gushing out profusely.

Yet, faced with such a life-threatening injury, Rolando’s expression was filled with a strange eeriness, his lips slightly curled up, his eyes displaying a sense of triumph.

Immediately, Sanders extended his hand, his fingertips gleaming with the energy of life, beginning the process of Restoration on Rolando’s wound.

However, even though the wound was healing at a visible rate, it couldn’t completely stop the speed at which Rolando’s life was ebbing away.

“It’s no use, you can’t save him… Hahaha…” A string of laughter erupted from Rolando’s mouth, accompanied by a torrent of blood and flesh.

Suise, who had originally been checking the condition of Eulica on the ground, lifted his head in confusion upon hearing Rolando’s words: Why would Rolando say he couldn’t save “him”? Who was this “him”?

As Suise remained confused, Sanders said coldly, “Aren’t you coming out?”

Suise: “Who? Who’s coming out?”

Sanders didn’t pay attention to Suise; his deep gaze fixed on Rolando, “Your darkened personality has no desire to survive because it can replace you. But you? Once you die, you will fall into an eternal hell of endless darkness with no possibility of returning to this world. The darkened personality will be reborn in your body and replace everything about you.”

“Are you willing to see such a situation unfold?”

By now, Suise had a vague understanding that Sanders seemed to be talking to another personality within Rolando… But was that useful?

Rolando’s face turned cold and dark: “You evidently know something. But it’s no use, he won’t listen to you…”

The words were only half-spoken when Rolando’s sullen expression suddenly began to change, his eyes alternating between malevolence and calm.

“What are you doing, go back!” Rolando suddenly shouted, “He’s deceiving you, even if you come out, it will be of no use, you’ll just be turned into a Puppet! Are you planning to betray King Gumman?!”

Rolando’s last exclamatory cry brought his fluctuating expression back to coldness.

It seemed the phrase “betray King Gumman” had become the curse that bounded the dominant personality.

Still shocked, Suise contemplated the scene in front of him, which signified the interaction between Rolando’s two personalities. How did Sanders manage to do this?

Sanders quietly observed Rolando: “Your life has already begun its journey towards the end of death, what are you still afraid of? The promise I made you before remains unchanged.”

Rolando sneered menacingly, “What promises did you make to him? I’m telling you, it’s impossible, it will never succeed! You idiot, are you actually going to believe this black Wizard in front of you?”

Rolando’s inconsistent tone of voice was clearly indicative of a conflict with his dominant personality.

Sanders continued to address the dominant personality hidden deep within Rolando: “Do you trust the darkened personality that wants to replace everything about you, or do you trust what I have said? At least the promises I’ve made, I won’t go back on.”

For the first time, a panicked expression appeared on Rolando’s spiteful face.

The perfect shield, flawless in its creation, also had its moment when cracks began to appear.

“He can’t save you, why are you so persistent, he can’t save you!” Rolando yelled loudly.

Sanders calmly said, “Your injuries are too severe, I alone am powerless to reverse this. Only if you yourself wish to survive and undergo self-regulation, is there that slim hope.”

After a pause, Sanders laid down his final words, “Will you decide to disappear without a trace, or will you fight and at least manage to survive, as well as search for the freedom that may lie ahead?”

Sanders’s words were like the striking spark from flint, cutting through time and space, instantly flowing into the deep recesses of Rolando’s spirit sea, where the main personality, shivering in the shadows, lifted its head to look at the three-way path that appeared before it.

One path led to an endless abyss of death.

Another path was occupied by the darkened personality, who knew itself too well, and was using all sorts of languages to tempt and dissuade him.

The last path was shrouded in mist, where Sanders’s figure could barely be made out. It was a road unknown, yet the only one that might run counter to the road to the abyss of death.

In these trying times, the main personality closed its eyes, not heeding the darkened personality’s tempting whispers at its ear, and instead stepped onto the misty path.

The darkened personality began to curse him, using all sorts of vile words.

The main personality stilled its steps, turned its head towards the other path’s darkened personality, and said, “I just don’t want to die so soon.”

With those words, the main personality stepped into the mist.

Meanwhile, in reality, Rolando’s expression lost its previously venomous and bitter bite, and in his eyes, a longing for survival rekindled.

“I promised… save me.” Along with the barrage of curses from the darkened personality in the spirit sea, Rolando’s humble and faint voice finally emerged.

Sanders sighed in relief inwardly, nodded to Rolando, and turned to prepare to destroy the magic power cage.

To save Rolando, the only way now was for Sanders to use the Art of Life and healing potions from the outside while Rolando had to want to live and use related Guiding Techniques to lead the potions to the right spots, coordinating as much as possible with Sanders’s treatment in order to possibly survive.

Thus, only by breaking the magic power cage could Rolando use the Guiding Techniques for self-rescue.

However, as Sanders prepared to break the magic power cage, Suise interjected, “He might be the second personality in disguise. How can you trust him?”

“Whether it’s his second personality or the first, you can tell by the power he shows,” Sanders quietly said. “Rather than him, I’m more interested in an explanation from you. Why did you step into the Geometric Lock and not stop Eulica from killing him?”

Suise was stunned, muttering a few words but unable to figure out where to begin.

Sanders didn’t pay Suise any heed, irrespective of what his answer would have been, as the priority was to revive Rolando.

Once the magic power cage was broken, Rolando could once again sense his Magical Core. The magic power he had been without for so long finally refilled his withered body. Simultaneously, Rolando also became more aware of the powerlessness of life slipping away, as well as the death countdown looming over his head.

While Rolando was still bewildered, a bottle of healing potion was poured into his mouth.

“If you don’t want to die, then guide the potion close to your wounds,” Sanders’s voice reached Rolando’s ears. He didn’t hesitate for a moment and executed Sanders’s order.

Because he had to control the Guiding Technique, Rolando’s focus also began to consolidate, and the barrage of curses from the darkened personality in his spirit sea, as well as his own emotional sensitivity, gradually faded away. His entire focus was now on guiding the potion and observing the inside of his body.

Sanders worked swiftly to heal Rolando. Even though Rolando himself was actively seeking a way to live, the injuries were too severe; all of his organs had suffered damage. The healing progress could only be described as barely stabilizing, and it was still descending.

Rolando also realized this, feeling somewhat despondent, but his obsession with living kept him from giving up. However, because of that momentary despair in his heart, the darkened personality found an opening. Temptations and curses interwoven with different messages stormed into Rolando’s mind.

His Guiding Technique began to deform.

Just as everything seemed to be heading for the worst, and even Rolando himself felt it might be hopeless, another surge of life force entered his body.

Rolando looked up in confusion, only to see a head of vivid red hair.

Suise had also made a move.

Although Suise didn’t know why Sanders insisted on Rolando’s survival, there must be a reason for it.

Moreover, Suise realized that the current Rolando wasn’t the flawless second personality but the ordinary first one. Saving him might indeed provide a chance for a breakthrough.

With Suise’s intervention, the progress of the healing finally started to climb from decline.

Ten minutes later, they both stopped their efforts.

Rolando’s injuries had almost completely healed, nearly eighty percent better. The rest, even if they did not continue to treat him, his Transcendent physique would be more than enough to slowly recuperate.

At this point, Sanders could finally ease his mind.

He turned his head to Suise and, though he said nothing, his eyes conveyed a clear message: It’s time for you to explain.
