Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1318: Section 1319: Agreed

Suise actually didn’t know exactly what had happened.

“Not long ago, I suddenly heard Eulica’s call, her thoughts and tone were very clear and normal. She told me many things, and I could confirm that she was in a good condition at that time.” Suise said this with a somewhat embarrassed expression, “She said she hadn’t seen me for a long time and wanted to meet me, and I was a bit careless then.”

“And then…”

Suise lowered his head, and Sanders could guess the rest without him having to say it.

Eulica was controlled by the Illusion Node, and if she wanted to see Suise, then he would inevitably have to break the Illusion Node surrounding her. Once Eulica broke free, with Suise’s strength, it would not be easy to stop her.

“I thought that since the Illusion Node would dissipate on its own in just a few minutes, and her condition seemed stable, I went ahead and removed it. As soon as the Illusion Node disappeared, she immediately returned to her crazed state, tore through the Exile Space, and escaped.”

...
Immediately afterward, Suise discovered that Eulica had charged into the Geometric Lock, aiming directly for Rolando in the magic power cage.

By her appearance, she seemed intent on killing Rolando.

At that time, for some reason, Suise’s mood seemed to be affected, and the suppressed feeling from being provoked and ridiculed by Rolando for days burst out at that moment. Initially, he had been ready to stop Eulica, but due to the shift in his thoughts, a thought inexplicably arose in his heart: With Rolando’s behavior, it wouldn’t matter if Eulica killed him.

As a result, in a moment of thought, he didn’t intervene.

“I don’t know why, but suddenly I thought that way,” Suise muttered in a low voice, as if talking in his sleep.

“It was his doing.” At this moment, a breathless voice came from behind them, and surprisingly, it was Rolando, who had just been through a life-threatening situation. Clutching his wound with a pale face, he said, “Even though I’m locked up in the magic power cage, as the master of Crimson Authority and with it being so close, I could vaguely sense the condition of Crimson Authority and even exert slight control. But he has always been hiding this trump card, not making a move. Just now, when I separated from him, he might have felt that something unexpected would happen, and he moved hastily.”

After a pause, Rolando looked at Suise, “As for your emotions being influenced, it was also his manipulation of the Crimson Authority.”

Upon hearing Rolando’s words, Suise was completely bewildered, not understanding why Rolando referred to “me” and then “him”?

“The ‘he’ you speak of, is it… the second personality?” Suise asked.

Rolando looked down, “It’s my darkened personality.”

“Rolando has a darkened and a main personality within him. Currently, it’s the main personality, and the main personality is the true master of this body,” Sanders explained. “If Rolando died, it would actually be the main personality that dies, and his darkened personality would be reborn from this shell.”

Suise’s head thundered, leaving him stunned for a good while before responding, “The main personality dies and the darkened personality takes over the body? So that’s why he kept provoking us to kill him?”

Sanders nodded.

Suise still found it hard to believe, but Sanders’s confident expression didn’t seem to be deceiving him.

Could this be true? A deep sense of guilt suddenly emerged in Suise’s heart. If Sanders hadn’t intervened in time, perhaps the darkened personality’s scheme would have succeeded already.

Illusion Demon, how… how did you know? And what was the promise that you and he talked about just now?”

“You will know soon enough.” Sanders didn’t explain further but turned his gaze to Rolando, “Now, it’s your turn to fulfill your promise.”

Rolando lifted his head, his eyes looking tired as he faced Sanders.

Sanders: “When are you going to fulfill what you promised before?”

“I trust in the character of Lord Illusion Demon. I can first reverse the puppetisation of the others, but as for Eulica… I need the same promise from Lord Red,” Rolando hesitated to say.

Rolando thought his request would be refused by Sanders, as it did not align with the previously agreed promise. However, Sanders did not say anything but simply nodded, letting Rolando negotiate with Suise himself.

Sanders cared about Angel, and what Angel was most concerned about was the group of servants affected by the power of Crimson Authority.

As for Eulica, it was up to Suise to decide.

…

Angel opened his eyes from within the darkness.

Not long ago, Sanders had returned to the Wilderness of Dreams and informed him that the storm in the outside world had subsided.

Rolando had agreed to his promise to reverse the puppetisation of Eulica and the others affected by the Crimson Authority.

Currently, they were on their way back.

That Rolando would so readily agree to Sanders’s terms had somewhat surprised Angel.

Upon knowing that the Crimson Authority could not change owners and that Rolando’s death would have various unpredictable consequences, it meant that essentially Rolando was unlikely to die. Moreover, Rolando could seamlessly switch to his darkened personality, which would also prevent him from being made into a puppet by Suise.

So his own safety did not require promises from Sanders and Suise, as it was already assured.

The only thing that could threaten Rolando was the Wilderness of Dreams.

Rolando himself actually didn’t understand the Wilderness of Dreams. Under these circumstances, there were still many conditions he could rely on, and there was no need to agree immediately.

Originally, Angel thought he had to restrain Rolando several more times, letting him realize the might of the Wilderness of Dreams and then find a way to obtain an item capable of inscribing thought steel stamps to completely domesticate Rolando’s thinking before he would agree.

Unexpectedly, this accident actually hastened Rolando’s nod of approval.

Angel did not know what kind of change had occurred in Rolando’s mind, guessing it might be because the darkened personality desperately wanted him dead, or perhaps Rolando was enticed by Sanders’s notion of true “freedom”… None of that matters anymore, at least the result was good.

Knock knock knock—

From the window pane came an extremely faint knocking sound. Angel pulled back the curtains to see a Moonbell Sprite holding a cup larger than itself, wandering outside.

Accompanied by the cold wind, the Moonbell Sprite flew in.

In its arms, the cup was filled with Dairy Fruit Tree sap. The Moonbell Sprite leisurely placed the cup on the table and while glancing to the side, it said, “This was sent by the Viscount.”

Angel could clearly see that the Moonbell Sprite’s gaze was repeatedly drifting towards the small bed on top of the dresser, where Toby was still unconscious.

Angel’s fingertips gently rapped on the table, and the Moonbell Sprite abruptly came back to reality, speaking in a shy tone, “I, I will leave now.”

“Wait.” Angel pointed at Toby. “You don’t need to go back to the town, just stay here and take care of Toby for the next few days. Moreover, the Dairy Fruit Trees might have been neglected for a while, and need to be tended by you as well.”

The Moonbell Sprite hesitated for a moment, then nodded joyfully.

“Then take care of Toby first. I need to step out for a bit,” said Angel, turning away and leaving the room.

Having the Moonbell Sprite stay at the manor was also because Rolando had already signed the contract, agreeing to release others from puppetisation.

Once this matter was completely resolved, it was time for the servants left in the town to return. At that point, Angel could also free up some time to deal with Toby and Jon’s issues.

Angel walked through the long corridor and on the second-floor terrace, he saw Lyon.

“Do you need something from me?” Angel approached and asked, leaning on the railing beside him.

Lyon said in all seriousness, “Shouldn’t I be the one asking that question?”

“You’re worried I might be meditating, afraid that seeking me out would disturb me. Hence, you sent the Moonbell Sprite to find me, ostensibly to bring me water,” Angel calmly explained. “Even if my meditation really was interrupted, the blame would not fall on you but on the Moonbell Sprite, right?”

Lyon’s eyes darted away as he laughed awkwardly, “How could I possibly be that irresolute man? I’m just concerned about you.”

“Then I’m leaving,” Angel turned around without hesitation.

Lyon hurriedly said, “Wait!”

Seeing the mocking look in Angel’s eyes, Lyon pursed his lips, a face full of helplessness, “I was just thinking, the Moonbell Sprite’s hands are very light, so even if you were cultivating, it probably wouldn’t disturb you.”

“I came to you because I want to go there… cough cough, to see the Wilderness of Dreams,” said Lyon.

Angel: “Why? Didn’t you say just before that as long as Mentor Jon is there, you absolutely wouldn’t go?”

Lyon, scratching his cheek sheepishly, said, “Well, today is Tullas’s last decisive battle. I have to see who wins and who loses between him and that legendary Great Knight.”

Angel was startled, recalling something Frode had recently mentioned to him.

Tullas and that legendary Great Knight, dubbed a charlatan by him, had fought thrice.

Angel had assumed Tullas’s strength would surely secure the victory, yet to his surprise, the previous battles had resulted in one win and one loss, with the final decisive battle happening today.

Frode had said that this duel had become the most anticipated event among the residents of Originheart City these days. People even started betting on it—though, the formalities regarding currency were still being discussed by City Lord Monroe and his staff. The so-called betting was just for fun.

Angel didn’t pay too much attention to this final battle, but what piqued his curiosity was his brother Lyon’s sudden interest.

“I remember, you also watched the second match a few days ago,” Angel looked at his brother Lyon with interest, “When did you become so attentive to Tullas?”

“I’ve learned a lot of battle skills from him, and Sir Sabel’s fighting techniques are also near the transcendent threshold. I’ve heard he’s even slain a real Transcendent. I think there’s a lot to be learned from them,” Lyon earnestly replied.

Sir Sabel, the charlatan referred to by Tullas, was also one of the main protagonists of this duel.

This was the first time Angel had heard that Sir Sabel had actually killed a Transcendent.

A rare trace of curiosity also arose in his heart.

Seeing the earnestness in Lyon’s eyes, Angel nodded, “Alright then.”
