Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1311: Section 1312 The Second Personality

Some time later, the Magic Falcon spread its wings and circled high in the sky, then vanished at the edge of the horizon.

White Bear and Lyon turned their gaze to Angel.

“Has the Magic Falcon from the Illusion Demon brought any message?” White Bear asked urgently.

Lyon also asked anxiously, “How are they doing now?”

Angel sorted through the message that had been relayed to his mind and, after ruminating for a moment, finally replied, “They have captured Rolando.”

“The reason for the delay was that when Suise tried to refine Rolando into a puppet, there was a complication.”

...
Since Rolando was the true master of the Crimson Authority, nobody knew what kind of backlash effect the “Blood Origin Retrace” engraved on it would produce if he were killed. Therefore, after capturing Rolando, the best method to make him obedient without affecting the Crimson Authority was to refine him into a humanoid puppet.

Both White Bear and Lyon had long known the fate that awaited Rolando if he fell into Suise’s hands.

But, they did not expect there to be a complication during his refinement.

White Bear: “What complication?”

Angel: “Rolando broke free from his shackles.”

…

After returning to his room, Angel did nothing but silently waited by the window.

There was another piece of news that Sanders had conveyed through the Magic Falcon, which Angel had kept to himself beyond what was mentioned about Rolando earlier.

So there he was, watching the sunset gradually chased away by night, his gaze flickering as if he was anticipating something.

In front of him lay a notebook. The cover of the notebook was flipped open to a page filled with text. if one looked closely, they would see the title at the top of the page, which read in four large characters: “Gate of Dreams.”

Time passed, and suddenly, a profound and inexplicable perception arose from the depths of his heart. If this perception were to be expressed in words, it would be: “Attention, a foreign entity has entered the Wilderness of Dreams!”

This prompt was confirmed several times over. Following the corresponding dream energy of the prompt and weaving through layers of mist, Angel roamed and traversed the temporal space of dreams, and saw the person associated with this spiritual insight.

It was a meticulously dressed, handsome man, whose every detail seemed impeccable. He was currently standing on one side of the Bridge of Dreams, wandering back and forth slowly.

Only when he clearly saw the face behind the mist did Angel breathe a long sigh of relief and sent back a message to the “Gate of Dreams”: “Agree.”

In an instant, the handsome man was cast into the Wilderness of Dreams.

Witnessing this, a sparkle flashed in Angel’s eyes as he quickly started writing something in his notebook.

After a while, in a noble estate of the Originheart City within the Wilderness of Dreams, Angel looked at the man opposite him and said respectfully, “Mentor.”

This person was none other than Sanders, the first man to arrive at the Wilderness of Dreams through the Gate of Dreams without the help of a log-in device.

The other piece of news brought by the Magic Falcon was that Sanders had learned how to Enter Dream, and he would conduct an experiment tonight. That was what Angel had been silently waiting for.

“It seems that the Dream Entering Technique, when performed with the Power of Nightmare Illusion, can indeed reach the Wilderness of Dreams,” Sanders picked up a cup of steaming red tea and sipped it lightly, “However, it still needs to pass the inspection of the Gate of Dreams.”

It had taken Sanders over four months to finally learn the Dream Entering Technique, and today was the first time he was using the Power of Nightmare Illusion to operate it.

The fact proved that entering the dream with Nightmare Illusion could indeed lead to the Wilderness of Dreams.

Actually, Angel had already anticipated this result. Since he had obtained the power of the “Gate of Dreams,” he had been able to change the perspective of the Wilderness of Dreams from macroscopic to microscopic, allowing it to appear in his mind as a miniature garden. At the same time, Angel could also see the sights outside the Wilderness of Dreams.

The Wilderness of Dreams is essentially a miniature world attached beneath the Dream Realm; beyond it lies total darkness, where nothing can be seen. However, this darkness does not signify safety. There had been monsters from the Dream Realm that coveted this miniature garden, but they had been killed by someone suspected to be Shava.

From this, one could actually tell that the monsters of the Dream Realm can sense the Wilderness of Dreams, and the powerful ones could even destroy it.

How could they sense the Wilderness of Dreams? This question had always troubled Angel.

After some thought, Angel personally believed there were two conditions: First, if you have a high level of understanding of the Dream Realm, there is a chance to discover the Wilderness of Dreams outside of it. Second, it requires a key to the Wilderness of Dreams.

The so-called key is essentially a medium that can bypass all obstacles and directly reach the coordinates where the Wilderness of Dreams is located.

Angel considered that the key might be: Power of Nightmare Illusion Enter Dream.

Now, Sanders had arrived at the Wilderness of Dreams without the aid of a log-in device, which proved Angel’s guess was right—

As long as anyone used the Power of Nightmare Illusion Enter Dream, they could reach the Wilderness of Dreams.

The only solace at the moment was that very few people possessed a Nightmare Soul Body, and even fewer had activated the Power of Nightmare Illusion and learned the Dream Entering Technique. For now, it seemed only he and Sanders were privy to this.

If in the future, others truly learned Power of Nightmare Illusion Enter Dream, Angel didn’t need to worry too much, since the “Gate of Dreams” acted as a barrier, and anyone wishing to enter the Wilderness of Dreams would still require his permission.

“I have already modified the authority of the Gate of Dreams. From now on, no mentor will be barred when entering the Gate of Dreams,” Angel said.

This also meant that, as long as Angel and Sanders were both within the Southern Domain of the Wizards’ Realm, no matter the distance, even if one was on the Flourish Continent and the other on the Old Earth Continent, they could communicate face to face through the Wilderness of Dreams.

Afterward, Angel and Sanders discussed the entry conditions for the Wilderness of Dreams and reached a basic consensus, after which Angel inquired about Sanders’ current situation.

Previously, Sanders had sent a Magic Falcon to the manor with a message that was actually quite vague.

Why had Rolando run away? Where had he gone? And what were the subsequent events? Sanders hadn’t gone into detail.

Speaking of Rolando, Sanders’ expression became quite strange, and after a while, he shook his head and said, “Speaking of which, the matter is quite odd.”

Rolando, whose real name was still uncertain, was actually hiding in an extremely remote place. However, because of that bloodstained leather parchment in the suitcase, he had been discovered nonetheless.

At the time, Suise was well-prepared; not only did they seal space-time when capturing Rolando, but they also expended considerable effort to shield all potential leaks of information, so much so that even a Prophet Wizard would struggle to break such fetters.

Although Rolando struggled and resisted, he was just an apprentice after all, and in the end, they captured him quite easily.

Having caught Rolando, Suise immediately prepared to turn him into a Puppet, thereby not only avoiding any complications or destruction of Crimson Authority but also delaying King Gumman’s discovery as much as possible.

However, during the process of creating the Puppet, an unexpected event occurred.

“Just as I had the Magic Falcon convey to you before, Rolando broke free from his fetters and almost escaped,” Sanders explained.

“Almost escaped? So you mean, he didn’t get away?” Angel asked, perplexed.

Sanders nodded, “Ironically, Suise owes you a debt of gratitude. It was precisely because the Geometric Lock hindered him that he was unable to break through immediately, allowing them to recapture him a second time.”

In Angel’s mind, since Rolando had been caught again, the matter should have been settled. However, that was not the case.

“We now understand why King Gumman chose Rolando to be the master of the Crimson Authority,” Sanders paused, his expression utterly complex, “Because Rolando possesses a second personality.”

“A dual personality?” Angel frowned. Dual personalities were rare, but not unheard of.

When he was a child, his father, Pat, had once told him and his brother about a scandal that shook the entire nobility of Waterford—a seemingly weak and introverted noble’s son had committed a shocking series of flayings and murders. The victims were people from his family, top to bottom. The cause turned out to be this introverted noble’s son, who possessed a cruel second personality.

The case was eventually exposed by a coachman, but considering it was a matter of the nobility’s reputation, and most of the dead were servants, it wasn’t made public. The coachman was eventually silenced. As for the dual-personality noble’s son, rumor had it that he was put in solitary confinement, his subsequent fate unknown.

“Multiple personalities are not unique, but there’s something peculiar about Rolando’s second personality,” Sanders’s eyes flashed, “His second personality embodies all possible malice.”

Having multiple personalities simply reflects different traits within a person, so having an utterly evil personality seemed rather normal.

But oddly enough, Rolando was different. His personality not only brimmed with absolute malice, but his strength also changed whenever this personality was activated.

He reached the level of an Official Wizard!

That was truly bizarre, because even if personality traits differ, they all share the same body, so how could a change in personality lead to a difference in the Magical Core?

“Rolando’s second personality emerged when Suise was about to turn him into a Puppet. Fuyi surfaced and caught Suise off guard,” Sanders continued.

Since Rolando fought without regard for his life, using terrifying and malicious methods against Suise, Suise was momentarily unable to cope. Fortunately, Sanders was there, and together with the help of the Geometric Lock, they managed to subdue Rolando once again.

But after Rolando was recaptured the second time, Suise found it impossible to refine him into a Puppet.

“Rolando’s second personality is almost immune to all mental interference, and malice has taken over his complete consciousness. Without control over his mental consciousness, it’s impossible to proceed with Puppet refinement.”

In other words, the current situation was either to kill him or to remain at a standstill.
