Chapter 1305: Chapter 487: Gao Mengting: I’m Eating Spicy Strips! (Part 2)

The familiar smell flooded into her nose, and she took a deep breath, as if all her fatigue had been lifted at once.

”Mom, why did you make soup again? Didn’t I just have barbecue with Feifei?”

”Barbecue doesn’t count as a proper meal! You haven’t been home for seven or eight months since you left and now you’ve lost weight.” Zhao Suyun chattered away, serving her a bowl of steaming hot rib soup.

Gao Mengting held the warm bowl of soup, her eyes a bit misty.

After leaving home after New Year’s, she soon faced betrayal from a classmate and her store going bankrupt, during which she couldn’t even eat.

Later, she started a business with Tang Song, and only now has she begun to relax a bit.

Compared to the time around New Year’s, she has indeed lost nearly ten pounds now.

In the cozy living room, the sounds of chatting and laughter rose and fell.

After finishing the soup, Gao Mengting sniffed the strong barbecue smell on her body and turned back to her small bedroom.

Opening the wardrobe, she saw neatly arranged clothes inside.

Having been in the clothing business, she and her parents all have lots of clothes.

After rummaging for a while, her eyes flickered, and she deliberately picked a cream-colored high-neck sweater similar to Tang Song’s.

After changing her clothes, she walked out of the bedroom again, when suddenly there was a knock at the door.

”Coming!” said Gao Jinshan, standing up to open the door.

The door opened, and a man in his late forties with a slightly plump figure walked in.

He wore a slightly loose floral shirt, held a cigarette in his hand, and had a friendly smile on his face.

Gao Mengting stood up, smiling as she greeted, ”Uncle Guoqing.”

Zhang Guoqing grinned broadly, showing his somewhat yellowed teeth: ”Just now I heard Lao Gao’s laugh from inside the house, and I guessed the girl must be back, and indeed she is.”

Gao Jinshan laughed heartily, ”Isn’t it because I’m happy! My Mengting hasn’t been home for eight months, and she finally decided to come visit us, how can I not be joyful?”

Zhang Guoqing nodded, his gaze falling on Gao Mengting, ”Oh my, this girl is becoming prettier and prettier, even more beautiful than the stars on TV.”

Gao Mengting lowered her head, biting her lip with a smile, ”Uncle Guoqing, you always know how to sweet talk.”

”Hey, you shouldn’t be modest!” Zhang Guoqing waved his hand, his tone carrying a hint of teasing, ”Your dad said you’re making a killing with your company in Yan City, you’re a big boss now, tsk tsk, incredible.”

Gao Mengting glared at her dad, ”Dad, you’re bragging nonsense again! It’s not exaggerated like that.”

Her father was good in other aspects, but he loved to drink a little wine and meanwhile brag a bit.

”My daughter is successful, can’t I be happy?” Gao Jinshan smiled, his face gleaming, and then pretended to be troubled, ”Sigh, everything is good, except she’s focused on her career with no boyfriend.”

Everyone at this age is more or less settled, and their comparisons boil down to children’s development and health.

His daughter was always his pride, excelling academically, earning money from college, buying a car, and starting a shop after graduation.

Later, when the business failed, originally the old couple wanted her to return to Wu Mountain, considering even to pull some strings for her into a state-owned enterprise.

Who knew she would make them proud again, partnering up to start a clothing company.

Though at the beginning, maybe not earning much, it didn’t stop him from occasionally bragging.

Her mother Zhao Suyun chimed in, ”Isn’t that right, she’s this age and hasn’t even dated. Unlike your Qianqian, who’s about to get married, Uncle Zhang, you’re about to have a big grandson.”

”I’m really looking forward to it!” Zhang Guoqing laughed twice, pulled out a pack of soft Chinese cigarettes from his pocket, took out one and offered it, ”My son-in-law sent a pack during the day, saying it’s a company benefit, Lao Gao, want one?”

”Oh, Chinese! Good stuff! Zhibin is a considerate kid, knows how to handle things well.” Gao Jinshan accepted the cigarette and inspected it, his eyes lighting up.

Zhang Guoqing waved his hand, his tone light yet revealing some pride, ”Besides Chinese, he also left me two bottles of Dream Blue Dream Three to savor. We should call Sun and them over for some pickles, marinated snacks, peanuts, and have a little drink together.”

”That sounds great” Gao Jinshan took out a lighter, lit a cigarette, showing a look of envy on his face.

Zhang Guoqing’s future son-in-law works in a big local enterprise and holds a minor leadership position, often sending him good things.

He doesn’t have many hobbies, but smoking and drinking.

Upon hearing about Wuliangye and soft Chinese cigarettes, he couldn’t help but feel envious.

Just then, Gao Mengting’s phone suddenly rang.

The three laughing and chatting stopped instantly.

Gao Mengting glanced at the screen, paused for a moment, and without concern for any disguise, eagerly answered the call.

”Hello? Tang Song, what’s up?”

Just parted for about 10 minutes, Tang Song couldn’t possibly have reached the hotel yet; what she feared most was some accident on the road.

Soon, a familiar voice came from the receiver: ”Nothing, just missing you.”

Gao Mengting sighed with relief, quickly walked to the side, and gently said, ”Drive carefully, don’t get distracted because of the call.”

”Don’t worry, I won’t.” Tang Song chuckled, suddenly saying, ”Partner, do you think I should visit your home when I come to Wu Mountain? Meet your parents.”

Gao Mengting’s heart instantly raced, nervously saying, ”You... do you want to come?”

Tang Song directly asked back, ”Do you want me to come?”

Gao Mengting paused for a moment, glanced in the direction of her parents, her face flushing hot, and said ”Mm” quietly.
