Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3085 Brave Soldier

As the lower-ranking assassins saw the aftermath, they confirmed that no one survived the impact.

Feeling danger, they hurriedly retreated, watching a half-destroyed flying boat lit up in flames.

*Booom!~*

The flying boat exploded, causing black smoke to fill up the air from the burning of the wood.

”So the Emperor of Deathʼs relative is dead?”

A high-ranking assassin from the Malevolent Blade Hall asked as he appeared listless while playing with his dagger, throwing it around between his hands.

”Senior Sereneblade, there were no survivors inside, and the flesh, even armors, was broken beyond recognition, shattering into pieces, so we could not identify their corpses, but most likely, yes. Whoever that scholarly man was, they were probably dead.” Answered a low-ranking assassin from the Malevolent Blade Hall.

The other lower-ranking assassins who went to investigate also spoke of the same thing.

Some nodded as though it was expected. After all, even if it was the Emperor of Deathʼs most powerful relative, they were chasing a Level One Immortal who would die with a flick of a finger. There was no need to be so suspicious about the death of someone like that.

However, certain people, assassins, didnʼt seem to be convinced.

Was this mission so easy?

Was there any chance that this was a preemptive move on the Emperor of Deathʼs part to smoke his enemies out?

After all, this did happen almost the same day after his departure. What are the chances that this was a random person who was escorted inside the palace and made to appear as one of Emperor of Deathʼs relatives?

If that was the case, then they mightʼve very well taken the bait and exposed themselves, causing many expressions to sink.

”What are you doing?

However, Sereneblade saw the high-ranking assassin from the Oracular Reaver Abode perform some kind of mystical art. He narrowed his eyes, thinking that he was picking a fight, but then saw a mirror image of the flying boat appear. It appeared translucent and elusive, as though it could disappear anytime, but it remained, even flying backward.

ʼHeʼs tracing it…?ʼ

Everyone thought as they followed the flying boatʼs reverse trajectory.

At one particular moment, there were countless ripples over the back of the flying boat, but they recognized the location and the scene as them attacking it. Only after they attacked the flying boat did it become unable to withstand their impact and consequently crashed into a mountain, but as it continued to fly in reverse, they became more interested, wondering what the high-ranking assassin from the Oracular Reaver Abode was up to.

”Reverend Shadowjinx…”

Many recognized this assassin whose lanky body was clad in black with the imperceptible symbol of the Oracular Reaver Abode. They knew of his capabilities in divination and assassin arts, so they didnʼt complain and continued to follow him.

The flying boatʼs projection became more mellow and disoriented as it flew back, knowing that the technique was nearing its limit.

However, they didnʼt dare to insult but became even more shocked.

After all, his ability to look into the past by invoking space, time, and karma to trace the flying boatʼs reverse trajectory was already phenomenal, especially when it led hundreds and thousands of kilometers from the starting point. There was no way the assassins present could replicate it.

However, as they followed the flying boat, at one sudden point, they saw two ripples resonating near an exit of the flying boat.

”There…!ʼ

An assassin pinpointed in unconcealed excitement, and Reverend Shadowjinx also came to a stop.

His projection of the flying boat was now wobbly like the incense from the candle, but as he released his hand, the projection became undone, causing the assassins to scatter in droves, leaving behind only a few high-ranking assassins who surveyed from above.

Soon enough, they found a crash site from whereupon they found blood.

Like moths jumping into flames, they quickly shot across the forest region without saying anything, jumping one branch after another as they surveyed the area with their soul sense. Within a few minutes, they quickly came across a black-armored man flying low.

”Just one…?”

A low sound echoed from one of them, causing the black-armored man to be alarmed before he shot into the skies.

The place he had pounced from was now a graveyard of arrows, causing him to miss death by a margin. However, as soon as he had rushed into the skies, he came to a stop, his body frozen from fear as he looked at the assassins surrounding him.

There were eight to ten of them. He couldnʼt be sure as some of them were appearing just like apparitions.

”Ahaha…”

Neither way, he couldnʼt help but laugh- laugh as he felt that life was cruel.

He was none other than the Vice General of the Third Division. The moment they met Logan, the Emperor of Deathʼs father, their fate was sealed. If they lost him, then they would have their heads flown. If they tried to protect him, then they would have their heads flown.𝐍𝑶𝗏𝓔𝑙𝓊𝓈𝚋.𝚌𝔬𝑚

It was all the same. He was sure that his entire division was decimated.

However, an eerie sense of pride overcame him, causing him to grin like a fool.

”Youʼve all chased the wrong target.”

”Thatʼs not for you to say.”

A melodious and seductive voice resounded as a female assassin waved her hand. Something like a whip slashed across the air and appeared like it cleaved apart the Vice General, but only his helmet was slashed, causing it to be dismantled into pieces.

”Obviously, he could not be our target. Heʼs an Immortal King.”

The female assassin sighed ever so lightly.

Because the Vice General had been concealing his undulations rather well, they were not able to instantly pinpoint his location and undulations. However, now that they cornered him and provoked him with a fake fatal strike while also wanting to see his face, he subconsciously let out a bit of his undulations to defend himself.

Her tone was as though she hoped him to be the target, shaking her head.

”No matter. Iʼll soulscour him to know the true location of our target.”

As the Vice General tried to commit suicide, revealing offensive talismans of Immortal King Grade that already seemed to be activated, the female assassin lazily uttered and appeared near the Vice General. With a flick of her finger, the talismans abruptly disappeared from his body, appearing thousands of kilometers away before they exploded with a resounding boom.

However, only a light sound could be heard, the Vice General looking at the woman in horror as he could tell what she just did as he held a bunch of rocks over his body. She switched positions with the talismans using very focused and pinpoint coordinates of space to achieve this. Moreover, this couldnʼt be done unless she expected this to happen!

”Soulscouring is Soulsteal Pearl Templeʼs specialty. I trust that Fairy Skyreave would tell us the details.”

The other high-ranking assassins cupped their hands to Fairy Skyreave, causing her to give a nod before her hand reached out to him.

The Vice General couldnʼt move. He appeared to be frozen still, but there were tens of invisible chains wound around his body as the female assassin Skyreave moved her fingers like she was playing music in the air. Her free hand moved towards him, her finger almost inches away from his forehead.

*Bzzzzz!~*

But at the last second, Fairy Skyreave stopped. She looked up and saw a spatial tear appear, a very powerful one that caused her pupils to dilate.

And from it descended a huge Obsidian Crystal Turtle, its giant figure causing the night sky to darken even more.

”Ancestor!”
